- Send a VAT Return: the deadline for submitting the return online is usually one calendar month and 7 days after the end of an accounting period, and is also the deadline for paying; the return and the payment must reach HMRC on or before the deadline, even if it is on a weekend or bank holiday. As read on 2026-10-13 (HM Revenue and Customs (GOV.UK))
- Pay employers' PAYE: the bill is due by the 22nd of the next tax month if you pay monthly; a cheque sent through the post must reach HMRC by the 19th of the month. As read on 2026-10-13 (HM Revenue and Customs (GOV.UK))
- Companies Act 2006, section 442: the period for filing accounts is, for a private company, nine months after the end of the relevant accounting reference period (subsection (2)(a)), with other periods for a first accounting reference period of more than twelve months (3) and for a shortened one (4). Latest available revised text, up to date with all changes known to be in force on or before 13 October 2026 (The National Archives (legislation.gov.uk))
- Companies Act 2006, section 443: a filing period expressed as a number of months ends with the date in the appropriate month corresponding to the last day of the previous period, or with the last day of that month where the previous period ends on the last day of a month.
