How Sachsen differs from the nationwide German holidays
The Gesetz über Sonn- und Feiertage im Freistaat Sachsen (SächsSFG, § 1) adds two statewide Feiertage to the nationwide ones: the Reformationsfest on 31 October and the Buß- und Bettag (Day of Repentance and Prayer), which falls on Wednesday 18 November 2026, Wednesday 17 November 2027 and Wednesday 22 November 2028 and shortens the count each year. Reformationstag falls on a weekend in 2026 and 2027 and on a Tuesday in 2028. § 1 makes Fronleichnam a gesetzlicher Feiertag only in the regions the Staatsministerium des Innern designates by Rechtsverordnung, so it is not in this statewide calendar.
Worked example
Adding 1 business day to Tuesday, November 17, 2026 using Sachsen's Feiertage lands on Thursday, November 19, 2026. With the 9 nationwide German Feiertage, the same calculation lands on Wednesday, November 18, 2026: the gap comes from Sachsen's own calendar.
