Vietnam Business Day Calculator

Working days here are Monday to Friday, minus the holidays below. The Saturday and Sunday weekend is the fixed five-day week that Decision 188/1999/QĐ-TTg set for state agencies. The Labour Code itself only requires at least 24 consecutive hours of weekly rest, on Sunday or another day the employer fixes (Article 111), and caps normal hours at 48 a week while encouraging a 40-hour week (Article 105), so a private employer's working week can differ from this count.

Article 111(3) keeps the count predictable. When a weekly rest day coincides with an Article 112 holiday, the worker takes the next working day off instead, so the Article 112 holidays cost 11 working days in every year whatever the calendar does, and this calculator lists the compensatory days beside the holidays.

The paid holidays the calculator subtracts:

• New Year's Day (1 January)
• Tet, Lunar New Year (five paid days, placed each year by the Prime Minister)
• Hung Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month)
• Reunification Day, Ngày Chiến thắng in the Code (30 April)
• Labour Day (1 May)
• National Day (2 September and one adjacent day before or after it)
• Vietnam Culture Day (24 November, from 2026)
