Vietnam Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: May 19, 2026

Calculate working days in Vietnam with the 11 statutory public holidays preselected under Article 112 of the Labour Code 2019, including the 7-9 day Tet (Lunar New Year) closure gazetted annually by the Government. Use for GDT (General Department of Taxation) monthly VAT cycles (20th of following month), SBV VICAS RTGS settlement, HOSE/HNX listed-entity disclosures, and MPI FDI approval windows. The 13th-month salary norm under the Labour Code typically pays before Tet.

Pair these tools with Vietnamese supply-chain workflows

Vietnamese factory output and port clearance around the 5 to 9-day Tet block and the National Day closure need explicit business-day planning. The Project Deadline Calculator stages multi-phase timelines and accounts for the gazetted Tet make-up Saturdays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which holidays are included for Vietnam?
The calculator preselects public holidays for Vietnam sourced from Article 112 of the Labour Code 2019 (Bộ luật Lao động 2019). The list and 2024-2029 dates are summarised on this page. Use the Advanced options to layer any regional or industry-specific dates that apply to a particular contract.
What is the Vietnam workweek?
Vietnam's working week runs with a Saturday and Sunday weekend. The calculator excludes both weekend days and the listed public holidays from the working-day count.
How long is the Tet closure each year?
Tet (Lunar New Year) is Vietnam's longest national closure, gazetted by the Government annually under Article 112 of the Labour Code 2019. The official statutory closure is 5 days but the Government typically pulls in adjacent weekends to create a 7-9 day national holiday, sometimes longer. Make-up working Saturdays after Tet are gazetted to balance the calendar year. Banks, the HOSE and HNX stock exchanges, and government offices all close. This calculator uses the most-commonly observed 7-9 day window based on the prior year's gazette where the next year's notice has not been published.
When is Hung Kings Commemoration Day?
Hung Kings Commemoration Day (Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương) falls on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month and honours the legendary founders of Vietnam. The Gregorian date varies each year, typically in early to mid-April. It became a national public holiday in 2007 and closes banks, the HOSE/HNX, and government offices. When the lunar date falls on a weekend, the Government may declare an in-lieu Monday by decree but this is not automatic.
