Data Updates and Corrections

The log covers changes since October 10, 2026. It holds 13 entries, the newest first.

Last updated:

This page records each change to what the calculators on this site count: a holiday that moved or a holiday list that changed, a country's working week or a week that can be selected, a calculator's counting rule or its dates, and the authority a calendar is taken from. Every entry says what changed, from what to what, on which date and for which country. It links the pages affected and names the source.

It is not a list of everything that changes here. Rewording, design work and anything else that moves no count and no date are left out. Where the site was wrong, the entry says so in plain words.

How the figures are produced

No figure in an entry is typed by hand. Where an entry shows a count before and after, both are computed when the site is built, from the holiday data the calculators themselves read and from the old and the new setting the entry records. A date that moved is shown as two full dates, so either one can be checked against the country's own calendar.

Correction: the time zone overlap tool counted half-hour time zones in whole hours

· Correction · Time zone overlap calculator

Until October 13, 2026, the time zone overlap tool worked in whole hours of the first city. When the second city's clock was not a whole number of hours away, the tool counted an hour as shared even where only part of it was, and it printed times that do not exist on a clock. That was wrong. Mumbai, on UTC+5:30, is the one city in the tool's list this applies to.

The example is London and Mumbai, both working from 09:00 to 17:00, with the clocks as they stood on October 12, 2026, when Mumbai was 4.5 hours ahead of London. For each weekday the tool gave 4 hours of overlap, London 09:00-13:00 against Mumbai 13.5:00-17.5:00. The shared time is 3.5 hours, London 09:00-12:30 against Mumbai 13:30-17:00, and that is what the tool gives now.

Two cities a whole number of hours apart were not affected: for those the tool gives what it gave before. No business-day count and no date on this site changed.

This entry rests on this site's own code and on the tool as read in a browser before and after the correction. The two cities' clock offsets on the example date come from the time zone data of the system that builds this site. No document of an outside authority is cited.

United Arab Emirates: Hijri New Year 2026 counted on its announced day

· Holiday date · United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates' Hijri New Year holiday in 2026 is now counted on Monday, June 15, 2026, no longer on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that Monday as a paid public holiday for private-sector employees on June 3, 2026, with work resuming on the Tuesday. Until this change the site carried the calendar date of 1 Muharram, marked unconfirmed, four months after the holiday had passed.

The announcement read here is the one for the private sector, on the Ministry's official account on X. No notice from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources for this holiday was found on its site. Both dates fall between Monday and Friday, so the month and the year count the same; a count or a due date worked out here that began or ended on one of the two days could be off by one business day.

  • United Arab Emirates, June 2026: 21 business days, the same as before the change.
  • United Arab Emirates, 2026: 250 business days, the same as before the change.

Egypt: the holidays of 2024 and 2025 counted on the days taken off

· Holiday dates · Egypt

Egypt's holidays for 2024 and 2025 are now counted on the days the government took off. Until this change the site carried most of them on their anniversary or on a computed date, and it had never read those two years against the decisions. That was wrong: the Prime Minister moved seven of the holidays to another day and made two Eid al-Fitr holidays longer than the site showed.

Each year was read in the Presidency's own National Holidays list for that year, in a dated Internet Archive capture, because the Presidency's page shows only the current year. Each change was read again in the Cabinet's statement or in the Official Gazette, in the State Information Service's archive. The 9 lines below name each decision with the dates counted before and now.

Both years are past. Each has two business days fewer than the site showed, and a count or a due date worked out here across one of these dates could be off by a business day or two. Saturday, November 1, 2025, which the Cabinet made a paid holiday in the government sector for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, is not added: it is a weekly rest day and is not on the Presidency's list.

  • Egypt: Eid al-Fitr 2024. The Cabinet's statement of 3 April 2024 reports the Prime Minister's decision making Tuesday 9 April to Sunday 14 April 2024 an official paid holiday, and the Presidency's 2024 list prints the same span. The site carried 10 to 12 April only. Added: Tuesday, April 9, 2024; Saturday, April 13, 2024; Sunday, April 14, 2024.
  • Egypt: Labour Day 2024. The Cabinet's statement of 23 April 2024: Sunday 5 May 2024 an official holiday for Labour Day in place of Wednesday 1 May. Counted before: Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Counted now: Sunday, May 5, 2024.
  • Egypt: Islamic New Year 1446. Prime Minister's Decision No. 2213 of 2024, Official Gazette issue 26 bis (a) of 3 July 2024: Thursday 11 July 2024 an official paid holiday in place of the first day of Muharram. Counted before: Sunday, July 7, 2024. Counted now: Thursday, July 11, 2024.
  • Egypt: The 23 July Revolution, 2024. The Cabinet's statement of 15 July 2024: Thursday 25 July 2024 an official holiday in place of Tuesday 23 July 2024. Counted before: Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Counted now: Thursday, July 25, 2024.
  • Egypt: Eid al-Fitr 2025. The Cabinet's statement of 23 March 2025: Saturday 29 March to Tuesday 1 April 2025 an official paid holiday, extended to Wednesday 2 April if Monday 31 March proved to be the first day of Shawwal. The Presidency's 2025 list prints Saturday 29 March to Wednesday 2 April. Added: Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
  • Egypt: Sinai Liberation Day 2025. Prime Minister's Decision No. 1379 of 2025, Official Gazette issue 15 bis (a) of 16 April 2025: Thursday 24 April 2025 an official paid holiday in place of Friday 25 April. Counted before: Friday, April 25, 2025. Counted now: Thursday, April 24, 2025.
  • Egypt: The 30 June Revolution, 2025. Prime Minister's Decision No. 2130 of 2025, Official Gazette issue 25 of 19 June 2025: Thursday 3 July 2025 an official paid holiday in place of Monday 30 June. Counted before: Monday, June 30, 2025. Counted now: Thursday, July 3, 2025.
  • Egypt: The 23 July Revolution, 2025. The Cabinet's statement of 16 July 2025: Thursday 24 July 2025 an official paid holiday in place of Wednesday 23 July. Counted before: Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Counted now: Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Vietnam: Tet 2027 counted on the announced days, February 4 to 10

· Holiday dates · Vietnam

Vietnam's Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2027 is now counted on the days the Ministry of Home Affairs announced for public servants, seven consecutive days that begin two days earlier than the block this site carried. Until this change the site carried its own placement, marked approximate, because the year's arrangement had not been issued.

The business-day count of the month and of the year is the same with either block: each takes five Monday-to-Friday days. Which days they are differs. A count or a due date worked out here before this change treated the first two announced days as business days and the last two days of the old block as holidays, so a result that began or ended inside either block could be off by up to two business days.

The notice also sets the two National Day days for 2027. They are the two days this site already carried, so that row keeps its date and loses its approximate mark.

  • Vietnam: Notice 11483/TB-BNV of the Ministry of Home Affairs, dated 9 October 2026, as the Ministry's own post reports it: public servants are off for seven consecutive days from Thursday 4 February 2027 to Wednesday 10 February 2027, the five Tet days and two compensatory days for the two weekly rest days that coincide with them. It carries out the agreement of the Deputy Prime Minister conveyed in the Government Office's letter 10065/VPCP-KGVX of 2 October 2026. The notice's own file was not found; other employers choose one, two or three of the five days before the new year. Saturday 6 to Wednesday 10 February were in both blocks. Counted before: Thursday, February 11, 2027; Friday, February 12, 2027. Counted now: Thursday, February 4, 2027; Friday, February 5, 2027.
  • Vietnam, February 2027: 15 business days, the same as before the change.
  • Vietnam, 2027: 249 business days, the same as before the change.

Israel: Shavuot 2028 counted one day earlier

· Holiday date · Israel

Israel's Shavuot holiday in 2028 is now counted on Wednesday, May 31, 2028, no longer on Thursday, June 1, 2028. The earlier date was one day late. That was wrong.

No published list fixes this date yet. The Bank of Israel's ZAHAV calendars, which supply the Israeli holidays on this site, end with 2027, so the rows for 2028 and 2029 are this site's own conversion from the Hebrew calendar. In each of the Bank's lists for 2024 to 2027 the Shavuot date is 6 Sivan in that calendar, and in 2028 the 6th of Sivan is the new date; the row had stood on the 7th. The other rows of 2028 and 2029 were recomputed the same way and did not change.

Both dates are counted days on Israel's Sunday-to-Friday week. The lines below give the two months and the year, computed with the old date and with the new one.

  • Israel, May 2028: 26 business days before the change and 25 after it.
  • Israel, June 2028: 25 business days before the change and 26 after it.
  • Israel, 2028: 305 business days, the same as before the change.

South Africa: public holidays declared by proclamation added

· Holiday list · South Africa

South Africa's holiday list gained 2 dates: Wednesday, May 29, 2024; Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Each is a day the President declared a public holiday throughout the Republic by proclamation in the Government Gazette, under section 2A of the Public Holidays Act 36 of 1994. Until this change the list held only the 12 days of Schedule 1 to the Act and the Mondays that follow a Sunday holiday, so the calculators counted these dates as business days. That was wrong.

Each date falls between Monday and Friday, so each takes one business day out of its month and its year. The lines below give the counts, computed with the dates and without them. A count made here before this change over a span that includes one of these dates was one business day too high, and a due date counted across one of them could fall one business day early.

  • South Africa: Proclamation Notice 157 of 2024, Government Gazette No. 50165 of 23 February 2024: in terms of section 2A of the Act, the President declares the twenty-ninth day of May 2024 a public holiday throughout the Republic. The notice states no reason. Added: Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
  • South Africa: Proclamation Notice 346 of 2026, Government Gazette No. 55352 of 8 September 2026: in terms of section 2A of the Act, the President declares the fourth day of November 2026 a public holiday throughout the Republic, in connection with the holding of local government elections. Added: Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
  • South Africa, May 2024: 22 business days before the change and 21 after it.
  • South Africa, November 2026: 21 business days before the change and 20 after it.

Australia: Sunday public holidays added for Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia

· Holiday list · Australia

The holiday tables of 3 Australian states and territories gained 5 dates. Each is a public holiday under that state's or territory's own law, and the tables did not have it. Every one of them is a Sunday.

A Sunday is not a business day whether or not it is a holiday, so no business-day count changes. The lines below give each year's count for the state or territory, computed with the new dates and without them.

  • Tasmania: Easter Sunday. The Statutory Holidays Amendment Act 2026 (No. 18 of 2026) inserted paragraph (da), "Easter Sunday", into section 4 of the Statutory Holidays Act 2000 and commenced on 9 October 2026. Easter Sunday 2026 fell before that date, so the 2026 table is unchanged. Added: Sunday, March 28, 2027; Sunday, April 16, 2028.
  • Australian Capital Territory: Anzac Day. When 25 April is a Sunday the Holidays Act 1958 makes the following Monday the public holiday (section 3(1)(a)(viii)), and the table had that Monday alone. Notifiable instrument NI2026-387, made under section 3(1)(b) and notified on 14 August 2026, declares Sunday 25 April 2027 an additional public holiday, so both days are public holidays. Added: Sunday, April 25, 2027.
  • Western Australia: Easter Sunday. The Second Schedule to the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 lists Easter Sunday among the State's public holidays, and the Western Australian Government's table prints it for both years. The table here had left it out. Added: Sunday, April 5, 2026; Sunday, March 28, 2027.
  • Tasmania, 2027: 253 business days, the same as before the change.
  • Tasmania, 2028: 251 business days, the same as before the change.
  • Australian Capital Territory, 2027: 249 business days, the same as before the change.
  • Western Australia, 2026: 251 business days, the same as before the change.
  • Western Australia, 2027: 251 business days, the same as before the change.

Maternity leave calculator: dates recounted against each country's law

· Calculator dates · Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Mexico

The maternity leave calculator was read again at each country's law, or at the authority that administers it, and its dates changed for 7 of the 11 countries it covers. Each line below says what is counted now and names the provision, with the date the calculator gave before and the date it gives now for a due date of November 2, 2026.

Nothing moved for the other countries it covers: United States, United Kingdom, India, France.

  • Australia: The calculator counts the 12 months of unpaid parental leave of the Fair Work Act 2009 (s 70), from the earliest start six weeks before the expected date of birth (s 71). Before, it counted 22 weeks from that start. Return date: September 21, 2027. Before: February 22, 2027.
  • Canada: The calculator counts 51 weeks from the birth under the Employment Insurance Act: the one-week waiting period (s 13), 15 weeks of maternity benefits and 35 weeks of standard parental benefits (s 12(3)). Before, it counted 50 weeks and left the waiting week out. Return date: October 25, 2027. Before: October 18, 2027.
  • Germany: The return date is the day after the eight weeks that follow the birth (§ 3(2) MuSchG; the day of the birth is not counted, § 187(1) BGB). Before, the calculator gave the last of those days as the return date. Return date: December 29, 2026. Before: December 28, 2026.
  • Japan: The calculator counts the maternity allowance period of the Health Insurance Act (Article 102): 42 days up to and including the expected date of birth, and 56 days after it. The period starts one day later than before, and the return date is the day after the 56 days. Start of the period: September 22, 2026. Before: September 21, 2026. Return date: December 29, 2026. Before: December 28, 2026.
  • Philippines: The last date shown is the last of the 105 days of maternity leave, as the Social Security System describes Republic Act No. 11210. Before, the calculator showed the day after it. Last date shown: February 14, 2027. Before: February 15, 2027.
  • Singapore: The last date shown is the last day of the 16 weeks of the Child Development Co-Savings Act 2001 (s 9), counted from the earliest start 28 days before the expected date. Before, the calculator showed the day after it. Last date shown: January 24, 2027. Before: January 25, 2027.
  • Mexico: The last date shown is the last of the 84 days of rest: six weeks before and six weeks after the birth (Ley Federal del Trabajo, artículo 170). Before, the calculator showed the day after it. Last date shown: December 13, 2026. Before: December 14, 2026.

Egypt: Armed Forces Day 2026 counted on its observed date

· Holiday date · Egypt

Egypt's Armed Forces Day holiday in 2026 is now counted on Thursday, October 8, 2026, no longer on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The State Information Service reported on September 29, 2026 that the Prime Minister had issued a decision making that Thursday an official paid holiday in place of the Tuesday, and the Ministry of Labour's announcement of October 1, 2026 gives the same Thursday to private-sector workers.

The decision's own text and its publication in the Official Gazette were not read here, so the date rests on those two official pages.

Israel: counted Sunday to Friday

· Working week · Israel

Israel is now counted Sunday to Friday, with Saturday the only weekly rest day. Until this change it was counted Sunday to Thursday.

The week is that of the Bank of Israel's ZAHAV payment system, whose yearly calendar already supplied the Israeli holidays on this site. Its calendar for 2026 says: "As a rule, the operating days of the RTGS system are Sunday through Friday." Fridays and holiday eves, which that calendar treats as short business days, count as full days here.

This is not the week of every Israeli institution. Government ministries on the five-day week work Sunday to Thursday under the Civil Service Regulations (Takshir), and that week can be selected in the calculators, as the entry on the selectable week describes. The earlier pages credited the Sunday-to-Thursday week to a Bank of Israel list that does not state it. That credit was wrong. No holiday was added or removed.

  • Israel, 2026: 252 business days before the change and 303 after it.
  • Israel, 2027: 252 business days before the change and 304 after it.

Israel: a Sunday-to-Thursday week can be selected

· Selectable week · Israel

For Israel the calculators now offer a second week: Sunday to Thursday, the week of government ministries on the five-day week. The default stays Sunday to Friday.

The source is paragraph 31.111 of the Civil Service Regulations (Takshir), read in the copy on the National Insurance Institute's site, whose page footer is dated May 29, 2022; it is not the Civil Service Commission's own publication. The choice adds Friday to the weekend and changes nothing else: the holidays are the same on both weeks. Each result names the week it was counted on, and the choice is not kept between visits.

  • Israel, 2026: 303 business days on the default week and 252 on the selectable week.
  • Israel, 2027: 304 business days on the default week and 252 on the selectable week.

Correction: the calculators left out public holidays outside the United States

· Correction · Every covered country except: United States

Until October 10, 2026, the calculators on this site applied public holidays for the United States only. For the other 24 countries, a result worked out in the browser counted weekends and no holidays, so a business-day count or a due date could be off by the holidays in the span, and nothing on screen said so.

What was affected: results the calculators computed in the browser. What was not: the figures printed on the pages themselves, such as the monthly and yearly counts, the holiday lists and the dates in the text, which are computed when the site is built. The first affected date is not established.

Since the correction, every country's holidays load in the browser. If a country's calendar fails to load, the calculator shows a message and gives no result.

This entry rests on this site's own code and on its browser check of every country on the day of the correction. No outside authority is involved.
