Working Days by Year
Last reviewed: July 24, 2026
A full year holds far fewer working days than its 365 suggest. A common year has 261 weekdays and a leap year 262; once US federal holidays come out, the working-day total settles in the low 250s. The exact figure shifts year to year because holidays drift across the week and leap days land every fourth February.
Each year page below breaks the total down by country, so you can compare the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, and the Philippines side by side. These are the numbers behind annual capacity models, billable-day targets, and headcount planning. For a single month rather than a whole year, the business-days-in-a-month hub carries the same detail at monthly resolution.
