Business Day Calculator

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 10, 2026 · Operated by SquarepegIdeas, Texas, United States

1. Introduction

BusinessDayCalculator.org is a free online business day calculator tool operated by SquarepegIdeas, based in Texas, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our site, how we use it, and what choices you have.

We have tried to write this in plain English rather than legal boilerplate. The short version: the calculator itself needs nothing from you. All calculations happen in your browser, and no dates you enter are ever sent to our servers.

Two other parts of this site do handle personal data, and both are set out in detail below. Google Analytics measures how the site is used, and sets cookies to do it. The contact form asks for your name and email address so that we can write back to you.

2. Information We Collect

Calculator inputs: We do not collect, store, or transmit any dates, calculations, or results you enter into the calculator. Everything runs client-side in your browser.

Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, how long people stay, and general geographic distribution of visitors. Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly by design: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual users, and does not collect personally identifiable information.

The data Vercel Analytics collects includes: pages visited, referrer URL, approximate geographic region (country/region level), browser type, device type (desktop/mobile/tablet), and page load performance metrics. No persistent identifiers are stored on your device.

Vercel Speed Insights: We also use Vercel Speed Insights to monitor real-world page performance (Core Web Vitals). This data is anonymous and aggregated.

Google Analytics 4:Alongside Vercel Analytics we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to measure the site's audience. Unlike Vercel Analytics, Google Analytics does set cookies; which ones, and how long they last, is in the Cookies section below. The script loads only after the page has rendered. It does not run on the embeddable calculator at /embed: those pages appear inside other people's websites and carry no Google Analytics code.

Google describes what gets sent: your browser automatically sends Google the URL of the page you are visiting and your IP address, and Google may use that IP address to work out your general location, among other things. Added to that are the ordinary measurements of an audience tool: pages viewed, the referring page, browser and device type, and how a session progresses. What Google does with this data is set out in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. We do not send Google your name, your email address, or anything you type into the calculator.

Advertising (Journey by Mediavine): Advertising on this site is managed by Journey by Mediavine, a service of Mediavine, Inc. The Mediavine tag runs on every page of this site apart from the embeddable calculator at /embed, which carries no advertising code.

Ads are serving now. Mediavine and the advertising partners it works with may use cookies and similar technologies to select ads and measure how they perform. Mediavine states that the data collected through that cookie is: IP address, operating system type, operating system version, device type, the language of the website, web browser type, and email address in hashed form. We do not supply any email address to Mediavine. The companies Mediavine shares this data with, and their own privacy policies, are listed at Mediavine Partners.

Contact form: The form at /contact asks for four things: your name, your email address, a subject from a fixed list, and your message. We use them for one purpose, which is to read what you wrote and reply to it. Your address is set as the reply-to address so that our answer reaches you.

The sending is handled by Resend, an email delivery service operated by Plus Five Five, Inc., which passes what you wrote to our inbox as an email. None of it is written to a database, because this site does not run one. Your IP address is held briefly in the memory of the server handling the request, and only to enforce the limit of five messages per hour from one address. It is not sent on with the message and it is not kept.

Local storage:We store your custom holiday exclusions and your light or dark mode preference (under the key "theme") in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

3. How We Use Information

The analytics data we collect through Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics is used to:

  • Understand which calculator features are most useful
  • Identify technical issues (e.g., pages that load slowly or have high exit rates)
  • Decide which country holiday calendars to add or update
  • Improve the overall site experience

We do not sell this data. Beyond Vercel and Google, the two companies that operate the measurement tools, we do not pass it to anyone.

What you send through the contact form is used only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list with it, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Cookies

Vercel Analytics: Vercel Analytics does not set any cookies. It uses a privacy-preserving, cookieless approach to measure traffic.

Google Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies. Google describes _ga as the cookie used to distinguish users, and _ga_ followed by the container id as the one used to persist session state. Google gives both an expiry of two years, while noting that browsers cut the lifespan of first-party cookies short for visitors who do not return: Chrome at a maximum of 400 days, Safari at 7.

Our own cookies: We set two first-party cookies that have nothing to do with advertising. bdc_region records whether your request came from a region where we ask for consent. bdc_consent records your answer to the consent banner. Both are described in the next section.

Advertising cookies: When Mediavine serves an ad, Mediavine and its advertising partners may set first-party and third-party cookies, and use tags, pixels and beacons, to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and measure how an ad performed. Rejecting these cookies does not remove advertising; it means the ads are no longer selected from your browsing history.

How to opt out: You can opt out of interest-based advertising from the member companies of the Network Advertising Initiative on their opt-out page. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. There is nothing to opt out of for Vercel Analytics, which uses no cookies and no persistent identifiers.

Turning Google Analytics off: Google publishes a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics collecting data on any website. Google describes it as covering the supported version of the Google Analytics JavaScript, meaning analytics.js and gtag.js; this site loads gtag.js. It is offered for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Microsoft Edge: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Cookie Consent (EU/UK Visitors)

If you are visiting from the European Union, the wider European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, we show you a consent banner. Until you answer it, every consent signal the site sets is denied: advertising storage, advertising identifiers, personalised advertising, and analytics storage. The last of those four is the one that governs Google Analytics, so Google Analytics stores nothing on your device until you accept.

Visitors from outside those regions are not shown the banner, and for them the same four signals are granted from the start. Google Analytics measures there without asking first. The countries we treat as requiring consent are a fixed list in the code: the 27 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and the United Kingdom.

Your answer is kept in a first-party cookie named bdc_consent on your own device for six months, after which the banner asks again. Accept and Reject set all four signals together; the banner does not currently offer a finer choice. To withdraw consent sooner, clear this site's cookies in your browser and reload the page: that removes the stored answer and the banner asks again. Separately from all of this, the Google browser add-on named in the previous section still applies. Vercel Analytics is untouched by any of it, because it sets no cookies and no persistent identifiers.

This banner is our own, and it is an interim measure. Mediavine provides its publishers with an IAB-registered consent management platform, and that will replace the banner once advertising begins serving here. We will update this section when it does.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights - privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics and performance monitoring. Governed by Vercel's Privacy Notice.
  • Vercel - website hosting and infrastructure. Vercel may log standard server access logs (IP address, request time, page path) for security and performance purposes.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) - audience measurement. Sets first-party cookies and receives your IP address and the pages you visit. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) - email delivery for the contact form. Processes the name, email address and message text you enter there. Resend acts as a data processor under its data processing agreement, with its privacy policy applying alongside it.
  • Journey by Mediavine (Mediavine, Inc.) - advertising management. May set cookies and collect device and browsing data to select and measure ads, and shares that data with the companies listed under Mediavine Partners. Governed by Mediavine's Legal and Privacy Center.

Beyond the services listed above, we do not share your information with other third parties, and we do not sell or rent it.

7. Children's Privacy

BusinessDayCalculator.org is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Data Retention

We run no database, so there is no store of personal data on our side to search through. Three things sit outside that sentence.

Contact form messages reach us as email and stay in our inbox until we delete them, like any other correspondence. Resend, which handles delivery, commits in its data processing agreement to return or delete customer data at our choice once the services are complete, and states that it deletes customer data within 90 days of an account being terminated.

How long Google keeps Analytics data is set by a data retention control on the Analytics property. Google offers 2 months and 14 months for it, and notes that the setting affects explorations and funnel reports rather than the standard aggregated reports.

Vercel Analytics retains aggregated, anonymized traffic data per their standard retention policy.

9. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)

The calculator itself gathers nothing about you. Google Analytics and the contact form do, so there may well be data for an access or deletion request to reach.

If you have written to us, your name, your email address and your message sit in our inbox. Ask us at the address in section 11 and we will delete them.

For Google Analytics, the controls that work in practice are the consent banner if you are visiting from the EEA or the UK, the Google browser add-on linked in section 4, and blocking or clearing cookies in your browser.

If you are a California resident, or an EU or UK resident, and you want to exercise a right those controls do not cover, please contact us and we will respond promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page occasionally. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
