How Western Australia differs from the national Australian holidays
Western Australia keeps the national framework but moves and adds days. It takes Labour Day on the first Monday of March and Western Australia Day on the first Monday of June, and its King's Birthday falls in late September (28 September 2026, 27 September 2027) instead of the national June date, so the June holiday is dropped. When New Year's Day, Anzac Day or Christmas Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is also a public holiday, and Boxing Day gains the following Monday or Tuesday on the same terms. So 25 April stays a public holiday in 2026 and 2027, with Monday 27 April 2026 and Monday 26 April 2027 added. A weekend Australia Day moves to the following Monday. Easter Sunday is a public holiday under the Second Schedule to the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 (Sunday 5 April 2026 and Sunday 28 March 2027 in the state's table), and as a Sunday it changes no working-day count. Western Australia has no Easter Saturday holiday. The state says its 2028 dates 'will be published when confirmed', so this calendar covers 2026 and 2027 only.

How Western Australia's rules play out across 2026 to 2027
Western Australia adds Labour Day on the first Monday of March, Easter Sunday and Western Australia Day on the first Monday of June, and holds the King's Birthday on a day appointed each year by proclamation, where this site's national set has the second Monday of June. The King's Birthday in Western Australia is set by proclamation each year: Monday, September 28, 2026 and Monday, September 27, 2027. 2028 is not covered, because the Government of Western Australia says its 2028 dates will be published when confirmed.
Anzac Day shows how much the weekend rules matter, year by year:
25 April is a Saturday in 2026. The Second Schedule makes the next Monday "also a public holiday" when Anzac Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, so Monday, April 27 is added and the Saturday stays a public holiday.
25 April is a Sunday in 2027. The Second Schedule makes the next Monday "also a public holiday" when Anzac Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, so Monday, April 26 is added and the Sunday stays a public holiday.
