The 2 weekend dates in 2026 fall on a Saturday or Sunday, days the count already excludes, so the working-day reduction comes only from the 7 weekday dates. Section 115(1)(a) of the Fair Work Act 2009 names the national public holidays in this table: New Year's Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, the King's Birthday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Act attaches no weekend rule to them. A further public holiday is a day declared under State or Territory law (s 115(1)(b)), a day substituted under such a law is the public holiday (s 115(2)), and an award, an enterprise agreement or an employer and employee may agree another substitute (s 115(3) and (4)). The table adds a weekday only where Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day falls on a weekend, marked additional, and keeps the weekend date on the list as well; it moves Australia Day to the Monday when 26 January is a Saturday or Sunday. Both follow Victoria's Public Holidays Act 1993 (s 6(b), (c), (ka) and (m)), which also puts the King's Birthday on the second Monday in June (s 6(i)), the date the table uses.

Every other public holiday belongs to a State or Territory, and each has its own page on this site. Victoria's Act shows how much one jurisdiction adds: Labour Day on the second Monday in March, the Saturday before Easter Sunday, Easter Sunday, the Friday before the AFL Grand Final and Melbourne Cup Day on the first Tuesday in November (s 6), and the Minister may appoint further days by notice in the Government Gazette (s 7). The King's Birthday is national in name only: the Fair Work Act takes it on the day it is celebrated in each State or Territory or region, so a jurisdiction that keeps it on another day moves it off this table's date. Each State and Territory page states the weekend rule of its own Act; use that page, or add its dates under Advanced options.
