Vietnam April deadlines

Hung Kings Commemoration Day falls on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month and has been a paid holiday since Law 84/2007/QH11 added it to the Labour Code. When it lands on a weekly rest day Article 111(3) gives the next working day off: 26 April 2026 was a Sunday, so Monday 27 April was the day off, and the Hanoi Stock Exchange closed. 30 April, Ngày Chiến thắng, is a paid holiday too. Quarterly declarations and the provisional corporate income tax payment for the first quarter are due by April 30, as is the finalisation of individuals who settle their own tax on wages (Decree 252/2026/NĐ-CP, Articles 10(3), 24(2) and 10(5)(c)); because 30 April and 1 May are both paid holidays, Article 3(7) carries those deadlines into May. Monthly declarations for March are due by April 20.

Vietnam reporting cycles and business-day rules

Vietnamese business days in this calculator follow the Labour Code and the public-sector week. Article 112 of Labour Code 45/2019/QH14 grants 11 paid holiday days: New Year's Day, five days for Tet, 30 April, 1 May, National Day on 2 September plus one adjacent day before or after it, and Hung Kings Commemoration Day on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, a paid holiday since Law 84/2007/QH11. Each year the Prime Minister fixes which days Tet and the National Day pair fall on (Article 112(3)), and the Ministry of Home Affairs announces them, as notice 9441/TB-BNV did for 2026. When a weekly rest day coincides with one of these holidays, Article 111(3) gives the worker a compensatory day on the next working day, automatically. From 2026, Resolution 28/2026/QH16 of the National Assembly adds a paid day off on 24 November, Vietnam Culture Day. The Labour Code itself lets an employer place the weekly rest on Sunday or another day (Article 111(2)); the Saturday and Sunday weekend used here is the fixed five-day week that Decision 188/1999/QĐ-TTg set for state agencies. Tax filing follows Decree 252/2026/NĐ-CP, in force with the Law on Tax Administration 108/2025/QH15 from 1 July 2026: the 20th of the following month for taxes declared monthly, the last day of the first month of the next quarter for those declared quarterly, and the next working day when a deadline falls on a day off. The tax authority is Cục Thuế under the Ministry of Finance, which took over from the General Department of Taxation in 2025.

How April 2027 compares year over year

April 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, March 2027 has 23 working days and May 2027 has 20. Looking forward, April 2028 has 19 working days under the same Vietnamese national holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Vietnam

A Ho Chi Minh City finance team uses the 20-day April 2027 count because Decree 252/2026/NĐ-CP moves any tax deadline that lands on a day off to the next working day, so a 20th or a month-end that falls on a holiday or a weekend is filed later than its nominal date. A Hanoi manufacturer plans around Tet, whose five paid days under Article 112 of the Labour Code the Prime Minister places each year; the placement, the weekends around it and any compensatory days together set how long the closure runs. A Da Nang listed company works back from the Ministry of Finance's disclosure limits: 20 days after each quarter for quarterly financial statements and 45 days after the half-year for reviewed half-year statements.

How April 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many working days April 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Vietnamese national holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

A 30-day month opening the second quarter

April runs 30 days and opens Q2. It shares its weekday alignment with July in every year, so the two months have the same internal shape before holidays are applied, and any difference between their working-day counts comes entirely from closures rather than from the calendar. April is also one of the four months that begin a quarter, which puts its first working day at the head of a reporting period.

In April 2027 that comes to 20 working days across 30 calendar days, against 23 in March 2027 and 20 in May 2027.

A late-week start

The month opens on the fourth working day of the week, which leaves only a short tail before the first weekend. The practical consequence is that the month's first genuinely full working week does not begin on the 1st at all. Anything scoped as "we have the first week to do this" has materially less time than the phrase suggests, and the shortfall is visible in the opening run below.

The opening stretch runs from Thursday, April 1 to April 2, two working days before the first break. April 2027 carries 20 working days in total, so that opening block is 10% of the month's working capacity.

One working day stands alone

One working day in April 2027 is walled in on both sides. Friday, April 16 sits between Hung Kings Commemoration Day (approximate) and the Saturday and Sunday weekend, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.

The working days of April 2027 arrive in stretches of 2, 5, 3, 1, 5, and 4 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from April 5 to April 9. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is back-loaded. It opens with two consecutive days and closes with four, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.

Two weekdays occur five times

Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Thursday and Friday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.

All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Thursday and Friday each occur 5 times. Had the surplus fallen on the weekend instead, the same month would carry 18 working days rather than 20.

Two closures in the month

Two Vietnamese national holidays fall on working days in April 2027: Hung Kings Commemoration Day (approximate) on Thursday, April 15 and Reunification Day on Friday, April 30. Two closures remove two days from the total, but their effect on the month's usable structure depends on how far apart they are.

They sit 15 calendar days apart, one in each half of the month, so April is interrupted twice at roughly even spacing rather than once heavily. That spreads the loss but leaves no long uninterrupted stretch in either half.

ten working days pass before the closure and only 10 follow it. With the break past the midpoint, most of the month's capacity has already been spent when it arrives, so anything the closure displaces competes for a shrinking remainder.

The closures around this month

April 2027 carries two Vietnamese national closures of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was Lunar New Year (Tet) (day 7) on February 10, 2027, 50 calendar days before April began and the next is Labour Day (additional) on May 3, 2027, 3 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Vietnamese national calendar puts 12 closures on working days, of which two fall in April. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

The month ends on a closure

The last calendar day of April 2027 is a public holiday: Reunification Day, falling on a Friday. A month-end obligation expressed as a calendar date therefore lands on a day when nothing settles under this calendar. The working month has already finished, and the two dates are not the same.

The last working day of April 2027 is Thursday, April 29. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Tuesday, April 27, three calendar days before the month closes.

The working month ends one day short of a full week, so the closing stretch is nearly complete but the week itself runs on into the next month. One calendar day of April follows it with nothing settling on it.

The quarter opens here

April is the first month of Q2. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.

Across the whole quarter there are 62 working days, of which 20 fall in April. The other two months carry May 2027 with 20 and June 2027 with 22. It sits between the other two, which makes it the month where a quarterly plan is least likely to be thrown off by the calendar alone.

Every working weekday occurs the same number of times

April 2027 works each weekday of its week the same number of times. That is the flat case, and it is the only one where a weekly recurring commitment costs the same whichever weekday it is pinned to. It happens when the month's length and its closures happen to cancel, not because the month is regular: the calendar census above and this one can agree for quite different reasons.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, April 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the short end of the year

April sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the Vietnamese national calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.

2027 carries 249 working days in total under the Vietnamese national calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 23 and the shortest is February 2027 with 15, a spread of 8. April ranks 9th of the twelve with 20.

Inside one of the year's denser months

April 2027 carries more than one Vietnamese national closure, which puts it among the year's denser months. Closures are never spread evenly across a year, so a month's own count says as much about the country's calendar as about the month.

Across 2027 the Vietnamese national closures fall 6 in Q1, 3 in Q2, 2 in Q3, and 1 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Saturday and Sunday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 3, 2027 and September 2, 2027, 122 calendar days with no Vietnamese national closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Vietnamese national calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Vietnamese national closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Vietnam Culture Day on November 24, 2027. The densest month of the year is February 2027 with five closures on working days.

The same count as last year

April 2027 and April 2026 carry the same number of working days, 20 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.

April opens 2026 on a Wednesday, 2027 on a Thursday, and 2028 on a Saturday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, April 2028 carries 19 working days.

Anchor dates that do not fall on working days

Four of the common monthly anchor dates in April 2027 land on a day this calendar does not work. A month with this many blocked anchors pushes several cycles onto the same few dates, because each of them resolves forward to the next available working day and those tend to be shared.

DateWeekdayStatus under the Vietnamese national calendarFirst working day on or after

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in April 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of April on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on May 1, 2027, which is not a working day under the Vietnamese national calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Vietnam calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in April 2027 under the Vietnamese national holiday calendar?
April 2027 has 20 working days under the Vietnamese national holiday calendar. The month spans 30 calendar days, of which 8 fall on a weekend and 2 are Vietnamese national holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 20 weekdays are countable as working days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Vietnam holidays affect April 2027?
April 2027 contains 2 Vietnamese national holidays: Hung Kings Commemoration Day (approximate) on Thursday, April 15; Reunification Day on Friday, April 30. The calculator skips each of them. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
How long is the Tet closure each year?
Article 112 of the Labour Code grants five paid days for Tet, and Article 112(3) leaves the Prime Minister to fix which five each year; the Ministry of Home Affairs then announces the arrangement. The closure people plan around is longer because the five days are joined to the weekends on either side, and because Article 111(3) adds a compensatory working day for any of them that lands on a weekly rest day. For 2026, notice 9441/TB-BNV gave public servants Monday 16 to Friday 20 February, which with the two weekends made a closure from 14 to 22 February, and left private employers to take one, two or three days before the new year and the rest after it. This calculator follows the published arrangement where one exists and tags later years' Tet dates (approximate) until it does; either way a year costs five working days for Tet.
When is Hung Kings Commemoration Day?
Hung Kings Commemoration Day (Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương) falls on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, so its Gregorian date moves from year to year. Law 84/2007/QH11 added it to the paid holidays of the then Labour Code in 2007, and Article 112 of the 2019 Code keeps it. When it falls on a weekly rest day, Article 111(3) gives the next working day off automatically, with no decree needed: 26 April 2026 was a Sunday, so Monday 27 April was the day off.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Vietnam. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Vietnamese national holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. April 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year.
When is the last working day of April 2027?
The last working day of April 2027 under the Vietnamese national calendar is Thursday, April 29. The month's last calendar day is Friday, April 30, which is not a working day, so month-end processing has to happen one calendar day earlier than the calendar suggests. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Tuesday, April 27.
How many working days in a row does April 2027 offer?
April 2027 has 20 working days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in six stretches of 2, 5, 3, 1, 5, and 4 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from April 5 to April 9. One working day in the month stands alone with a closure on either side.
