No Canadian federal holidays fall on a weekday in April 2027, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.
Canada April deadlines
Section 150(1)(d) of the Income Tax Act requires an individual's return on or before April 30 of the following year, or June 15 where the individual, or their cohabiting spouse or common-law partner, carried on a business in the year, unless that business's expenditures were primarily the cost or capital cost of tax shelter investments. A balance owing is due on April 30 in both cases: the Act defines an individual's balance-due day as April 30 of the following year. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says that when a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the return is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is postmarked, on or before the next business day. Good Friday is one of the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists, and the section gives it no date. In this site's data it falls in March in some years and in April in others, so April has a general holiday only in a year whose Good Friday is in April. In 2027 the data lists Good Friday on 26 March, so April 2027 has none.

Those dates in 2027
Every date named above falls on a working day in 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. That is worth checking rather than assuming: the same calendar date moves through the week from year to year, so a date that settles cleanly this year may not next year.

Canada reporting cycles and business-day rules
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a remitter type sets how often payroll deductions are remitted and affects the due dates. A regular remitter's due date is the 15th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 1 remitter remits up to twice a month: for the 1st to the 15th by the 25th day of the same month, and for the 16th to the end of the month by the 10th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 2 remitter remits up to four times a month, by the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. A quarterly remitter's due dates are April 15, July 15, October 15 and January 15. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the payment is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is processed at a Canadian financial institution, on or before the next business day. The Toronto Stock Exchange publishes its own list of market closures. Its lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday, which are not among the ten general holidays of section 166 of the Canada Labour Code, and do not list Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are.

How April 2027 compares year over year
April 2026 had 21 business days, so April 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, March 2027 has 22 business days and May 2027 has 20. Looking forward, April 2028 has 19 business days under the same Canadian federal holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Canada
The 22-day count for April 2027 is Monday to Friday less the weekday dates this site's data lists for the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) states an accelerated Threshold 2 remitter's payroll remittance due dates in working days: the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. For its due dates the CRA recognizes its own list of public holidays. The CRA's list of public holidays includes Easter Monday and a Civic Holiday, neither of which is among the Code's ten general holidays, so this calculator's federal list is not the CRA's list.

How April 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many business days April 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Canadian federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
A 30-day month opening the second quarter
April runs 30 days and opens Q2. It shares its weekday alignment with July in every year, so the two months have the same internal shape before holidays are applied, and any difference between their working-day counts comes entirely from closures rather than from the calendar. April is also one of the four months that begin a quarter, which puts its first working day at the head of a reporting period.
In April 2027 that comes to 22 business days across 30 calendar days, against 22 in March 2027 and 20 in May 2027.
A late-week start
The month opens on the fourth working day of the week, which leaves only a short tail before the first weekend. The practical consequence is that the month's first genuinely full working week does not begin on the 1st at all. Anything scoped as "we have the first week to do this" has materially less time than the phrase suggests, and the shortfall is visible in the opening run below.
The opening stretch runs from Thursday, April 1 to April 2, two business days before the first break. April 2027 carries 22 business days in total, so that opening block is 9% of the month's working capacity.
Five working stretches
April splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of April 2027 arrive in stretches of 2, 5, 5, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from April 5 to April 9. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is back-loaded. It opens with two consecutive days and closes with five, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.
Two weekdays occur five times
Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Thursday and Friday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.
All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Thursday and Friday each occur 5 times. Had the surplus fallen on the weekend instead, the same month would carry 20 business days rather than 22.
A month with no closures, and a long one
April 2027 contains no Canadian federal holiday on any date, working or otherwise. A month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, so its count is set entirely by the weekday it opens on and its length, and here both work in the month's favour: 22 business days across 30 calendar days.
Months at this end of the range are the ones worth reserving for work that needs consecutive days rather than cumulative days. The constraint that usually breaks a long run, a closure landing mid-week, is absent, so the month's structure is entirely weekend-driven and repeats on a seven-day cycle.
A closure sits just outside the month
April 2027 contains no Canadian federal closure of its own, but one sits within a week of its edge. A closure just outside a month still reaches into it: work displaced from the closed day lands on the working days beside it, and those are inside April whichever side the holiday falls on.
Looking outside the month, the last was Good Friday on March 26, 2027, 6 calendar days before April began and the next is Victoria Day on May 24, 2027, 24 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Canadian federal calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which none falls in April. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The working month and the calendar month end together
The month's last calendar day is also the last working day of a week. Month-end and week-end fall on the same date in April 2027, which is the one alignment where a weekly close and a monthly close cannot be separated. Everything queued for both runs on the same day, and there is no working day left in April to absorb a slip.
The last working day of April 2027 is Friday, April 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, April 28, two calendar days before the month closes.
The quarter opens here
April is the first month of Q2. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.
Across the whole quarter there are 64 business days, of which 22 fall in April. The other two months carry May 2027 with 20 and June 2027 with 22. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of April lands in a month with less room than this one had.
The week's first working day is the scarcest
The first working day of the week is the one April gives least often. Anything anchored to the start of the working week (a weekly kickoff, a Monday-morning cutoff, a start-of-week batch) fires fewer times this month than the calendar count suggests, because a closure has taken one of them out.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, April 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, and Friday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the long end of the year
April sits among the longer working months of 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. Where a month falls in that ranking is decided by two independent things, its calendar length and how many closures land on its working days, so a month can move several places between adjacent years without its length changing at all.
2027 carries 251 business days in total under the Canadian federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is October 2027 with 20, a spread of 2. April ranks 2nd of the twelve with 22.
Canada closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Canada is placed as follows.
Across 2027 the Canadian federal closures fall 2 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the Canadian federal data for 2027 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between January 1, 2027 and March 26, 2027, 84 calendar days with no Canadian federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Canadian federal calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Canadian federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is September 2027 with two closures on working days.
One working day more than last year
There is one more business day in April 2027 than in April 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.
April opens 2026 on a Wednesday, 2027 on a Thursday, and 2028 on a Saturday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, April 2028 carries 19 business days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in April 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Canadian federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Canadian federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 1 | Thursday | Working day | April 1 |
| April 5 | Monday | Working day | April 5 |
| April 10 | Saturday | Weekend | April 12, 2027 |
| April 15 | Thursday | Working day | April 15 |
| April 20 | Tuesday | Working day | April 20 |
| April 25 | Sunday | Weekend | April 26, 2027 |
| April 30 | Friday | Working day | April 30 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in April 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of April on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on May 1, 2027, which is not a working day under the Canadian federal calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated April 1 | May 1, 2027 (rolls to May 3, 2027) | May 31, 2027 |
| Dated April 15 | May 15, 2027 (rolls to May 17, 2027) | June 14, 2027 |
| Dated April 30 | May 30, 2027 (rolls to May 31, 2027) | June 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Canada calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
