Business Days in March 2027 for Canada
March 2027 has 22 business days under the Canadian federal holiday calendar. March 2027 contains one Canadian federal holiday on a weekday. The month covers 31 calendar days, of which 8 are Saturday and Sunday. That count drives invoice cycles, payroll runs, and any contract that defines deadlines as a number of business days in Canada.

Canada March deadlines
Section 156(1) of the Income Tax Act sets the instalments of an individual who pays tax by instalments on or before March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15, so March 15 is the first of the year. A corporation's instalments are monthly under section 157(1), on or before the last day of each month of its tax year. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a corporation may pay quarterly instead if it is a Canadian-controlled private corporation, has a perfect compliance history and, together with any associated corporations, has taxable income of $500,000 or less and taxable capital employed in Canada of $10 million or less for the current or previous tax year; for a tax year that is the calendar year the first quarterly payment is due March 31. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the CRA treats a payment as on time if it receives it on or before the next business day. Section 146(5) of the Act, which sets the deduction for premiums paid to a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP), counts for a tax year the premiums paid on or before the day that is 60 days after the end of the year: 1 March, or 29 February when February has 29 days. In 2027 that day is Monday 1 March.

Those dates in 2027
Every date named above falls on a working day in 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. That is worth checking rather than assuming: the same calendar date moves through the week from year to year, so a date that settles cleanly this year may not next year.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Canadian federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| March 15 | Monday | Working day | |

This table resolves weekdays and nothing else. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day is set by the instrument that creates it, and no shift rule is assumed here for any jurisdiction. The sources behind each calendar are listed in the source register.

Canada reporting cycles and business-day rules
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a remitter type sets how often payroll deductions are remitted and affects the due dates. A regular remitter's due date is the 15th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 1 remitter remits up to twice a month: for the 1st to the 15th by the 25th day of the same month, and for the 16th to the end of the month by the 10th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 2 remitter remits up to four times a month, by the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. A quarterly remitter's due dates are April 15, July 15, October 15 and January 15. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the payment is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is processed at a Canadian financial institution, on or before the next business day. The Toronto Stock Exchange publishes its own list of market closures. Its lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday, which are not among the ten general holidays of section 166 of the Canada Labour Code, and do not list Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are.

How March 2027 compares year over year
March 2026 also had 22 business days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, February 2027 has 20 business days and April 2027 has 22. Looking forward, March 2028 has 23 business days under the same Canadian federal holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Canada
The 22-day count for March 2027 is Monday to Friday less the weekday dates this site's data lists for the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) states an accelerated Threshold 2 remitter's payroll remittance due dates in working days: the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. For its due dates the CRA recognizes its own list of public holidays. The CRA's list of public holidays includes Easter Monday and a Civic Holiday, neither of which is among the Code's ten general holidays, so this calculator's federal list is not the CRA's list.

How March 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many business days March 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Canadian federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The month that closes the first quarter
March closes Q1 and is one of the seven 31-day months. Because it ends a quarter, its final working day is also the quarter's final working day, so a March count carries two boundaries rather than one. It is also the month in which the Gregorian year's day-of-week pattern first repeats: March and November always share the same weekday alignment in any given year.
In March 2027 that comes to 22 business days across 31 calendar days, against 20 in February 2027 and 22 in April 2027.
A clean start to the working week
March 2027 opens on the first working day of the week. That is the alignment where the month's own numbering and the working week agree: week one of the month is a whole working week that belongs entirely to March, with nothing borrowed from the month before. Of the 5 possible starts this is the only one where "the first week" and "the first 5 business days" describe the same span.
The opening stretch runs from Monday, March 1 to March 5, five business days before the first break. March 2027 carries 22 business days in total, so that opening block is 23% of the month's working capacity.
Five working stretches
March splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of March 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 4, and 3 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from March 1 to March 5. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with three, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.
Three weekdays occur five times
A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In March 2027 the three are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.
All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each occur 5 times. A weekend of two days can take at most two of them, and had it done so the same month would carry 20 business days rather than 22.
One closure, and where it lands
March 2027 carries a single Canadian federal closure on a working day: Good Friday on Friday, March 26. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.
It sits directly beside a weekend rather than inside a working week, so it extends an existing break instead of creating a new one. That is the cheapest position a holiday can occupy: the month loses a day but keeps its shape.
19 working days pass before the closure and only 3 follow it. With the break past the midpoint, most of the month's capacity has already been spent when it arrives, so anything the closure displaces competes for a shrinking remainder.
The closures around this month
March 2027 carries one Canadian federal closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was New Year's Day on January 1, 2027, 59 calendar days before March began and the next is Victoria Day on May 24, 2027, 54 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Canadian federal calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which one falls in March. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
A midweek close
The month ends in the middle of a working week. Two working days of the final calendar week fall in March and the remainder in the month after, which makes the closing week a partial period on both sides. A midweek close is the pattern most likely to push month-end tasks into the following month by default, simply because the week continues past the boundary.
The last working day of March 2027 is Wednesday, March 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Monday, March 29, two calendar days before the month closes.
The quarter closes here
March closes Q1, so the quarter's last working day and this month's last working day are the same date. Everything the quarter has deferred arrives inside these 22 business days, and there is no further month in the period to move it into.
Across the whole quarter there are 62 business days, of which 22 fall in March. The other two months carry January 2027 with 20 and February 2027 with 20. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of March lands in a month with less room than this one had.
The week's last working day is the scarcest
The last working day of the week is the one March gives least often. That matters more than the equivalent shortfall mid-week, because end-of-week cutoffs tend to be the ones that cannot move: work deferred past them waits out the whole weekend rather than a single night.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, March 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 5, Thursday 4, and Friday 3. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
One of the year's longest working months
No month of 2027 carries more business days than March under the Canadian federal calendar. A year's working days are not distributed evenly across its twelve months, and the gap between the longest and the shortest is wide enough that a target divided by twelve is wrong in both directions.
2027 carries 251 business days in total under the Canadian federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is October 2027 with 20, a spread of 2. March ranks 1st of the twelve with 22.
Inside the year's longest clear run
March 2027 sits inside the longest stretch of 2027 with no Canadian federal closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.
Across 2027 the Canadian federal closures fall 2 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the Canadian federal data for 2027 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between January 1, 2027 and March 26, 2027, 84 calendar days with no Canadian federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Canadian federal calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Canadian federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is September 2027 with two closures on working days.
The same count as last year
March 2027 and March 2026 carry the same number of business days, 22 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.
March opens 2026 on a Sunday, 2027 on a Monday, and 2028 on a Wednesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, March 2028 carries 23 business days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
One of the common monthly anchor dates in March 2027 lands outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Canadian federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Canadian federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| March 1 | Monday | Working day | March 1 |
| March 5 | Friday | Working day | March 5 |
| March 10 | Wednesday | Working day | March 10 |
| March 15 | Monday | Working day | March 15 |
| March 20 | Saturday | Weekend | March 22, 2027 |
| March 25 | Thursday | Working day | March 25 |
| March 31 | Wednesday | Working day | March 31 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in March 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of March on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on March 31, 2027, a working day under the Canadian federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated March 1 | March 31, 2027 | April 30, 2027 |
| Dated March 15 | April 14, 2027 | May 14, 2027 |
| Dated March 31 | April 30, 2027 | May 30, 2027 (rolls to May 31, 2027) |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Canada calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
