Business Days in March 2027 for Mexico

March 2027 has 22 días hábiles under the Mexican federal holiday calendar. March 2027 contains one Mexican federal holiday on a weekday. The month covers 31 calendar days, of which 8 are sábado and domingo. That count drives invoice cycles, payroll runs, and any contract that defines deadlines as a number of días hábiles in Mexico.

Mexico March deadlines

Natalicio de Benito Juárez follows the same pattern as February: Article 74, fracción III sets it on the third Monday of March in commemoration of March 21, which puts it between the 15th and the 21st. February's withholding and IMSS cuotas are due March 17, and INFONAVIT aportaciones for the January-February bimester fall due with them. March also carries the heaviest corporate deadline of the Mexican year, because Article 76, fracción V of the Ley del Impuesto sobre la Renta gives personas morales three months from the end of the tax year to file the Declaración Anual, and for calendar-year entities that expires on March 31.

Those dates in 2027

One of the dates named above does not fall on a working day in 2027 under the Mexican federal calendar. A fixed calendar date advances through the week year by year, so this resolution holds for 2027 only.

Mexico reporting cycles and business-day rules

Whoever pays salaries must withhold ISR and remit it monthly under Article 96 of the Ley del Impuesto sobre la Renta, and Article 6, fracción I, of the Código Fiscal de la Federación sets the 17th of the following calendar month for withheld contributions where no provision gives another date. IMSS cuotas obrero patronales are to be paid by the 17th of the following month under Article 39 of the Ley del Seguro Social. Two contributions share that day but not that frequency: INFONAVIT aportaciones, whose periodicity the sixth transitional article of the 1997 reform keeps bimonthly until the Ley del ISSSTE sets monthly payment, and the IMSS retiro, cesantía en edad avanzada y vejez cuotas, which the Ley del Seguro Social's own vigésimo séptimo transitorio keeps bimonthly until the payment periods of the ISSSTE and INFONAVIT laws are aligned. Both fall due by the 17th of January, March, May, July, September and November. Article 21 of the Ley del ISSSTE still sets its own retirement and housing payments by two-month periods, due by the 17th of the same six months. A tax period whose last day is a día inhábil runs to the next día hábil under Article 12 of the Código Fiscal de la Federación, whose list of días inhábiles is not Article 74's. For a filer who qualifies, the 17th is where the count starts rather than where it ends: article 5.1 of the decree published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on 26 December 2013 allows provisional or definitive federal returns that are due by the 17th of the following month to be filed one to five días hábiles later, set by the sixth numeric digit of the RFC. In the text published that day, the same article excludes taxpayers who opt to have their financial statements audited (dictaminados) and those of Article 32-H of the Código, the taxpayers it names by reference to Article 20, part B, of the Reglamento Interior del Servicio de Administración Tributaria, the Federation and the states, their decentralised bodies and majority state-owned companies (with the states' parastatal funds and trusts), political parties and associations, and integrated and integrating companies. Article 74 of the Ley Federal del Trabajo lists the días de descanso obligatorio in nine fracciones, three of which a reform published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on 17 January 2006 set on Mondays: the first Monday of February, the third Monday of March and the third Monday of November. Banks follow a separate list. In the Diario Oficial de la Federación of 10 December 2025 the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores published the days of 2026 on which the financial entities it supervises must close their doors and suspend operations. Besides Saturdays, Sundays and the Article 74 dates, that list has four dates Article 74 does not: 2 and 3 April (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), 2 November and 12 December. This calculator uses the Article 74 set.

How March 2027 compares year over year

March 2026 had 21 días hábiles, so March 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, February 2027 has 19 días hábiles and April 2027 has 22. Looking forward, March 2028 has 22 días hábiles under the same Mexican federal holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Mexico

The 22-day count for March 2027 is this calculator's count of días hábiles: Monday to Friday less the días de descanso obligatorio in Article 74 of the Ley Federal del Trabajo. That is this tool's rule, not a general legal definition: Article 74 lists days of mandatory rest and does not define a día hábil. Use the count to plan the work that has to fit before the 17th, the day several monthly obligations share: ISR withheld from salaries, which Article 96 of the Ley del Impuesto sobre la Renta has the payer remit monthly and Article 6, fracción I, of the Código Fiscal de la Federación dates to the 17th of the following calendar month where no provision gives another date, and IMSS cuotas obrero patronales under Article 39 of the Ley del Seguro Social. INFONAVIT aportaciones, whose periodicity the sixth transitional article of the 1997 reform keeps bimonthly until the Ley del ISSSTE sets monthly payment, fall due by the 17th of January, March, May, July, September and November. Banks follow a separate list, which this calculator does not apply: the one the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores published for 2026 has four dates Article 74 does not.

How March 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many días hábiles March 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Mexican federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The month that closes the first quarter

March closes Q1 and is one of the seven 31-day months. Because it ends a quarter, its final working day is also the quarter's final working day, so a March count carries two boundaries rather than one. It is also the month in which the Gregorian year's day-of-week pattern first repeats: March and November always share the same weekday alignment in any given year.

In March 2027 that comes to 22 días hábiles across 31 calendar days, against 19 in February 2027 and 22 in April 2027.

A clean start to the working week

March 2027 opens on the first working day of the week. That is the alignment where the month's own numbering and the working week agree: week one of the month is a whole working week that belongs entirely to March, with nothing borrowed from the month before. Of the 5 possible starts this is the only one where "the first week" and "the first 5 días hábiles" describe the same span.

The opening stretch runs from Monday, March 1 to March 5, five días hábiles before the first break. March 2027 carries 22 días hábiles in total, so that opening block is 23% of the month's working capacity.

Five working stretches

March splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.

The working days of March 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 4, 5, and 3 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from March 1 to March 5. A task needing more consecutive días hábiles than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with three, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In March 2027 the three are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each occur 5 times. A weekend of two days can take at most two of them, and had it done so the same month would carry 20 días hábiles rather than 22.

One closure, and where it lands

March 2027 carries a single Mexican federal closure on a working day: Natalicio de Benito Juárez on Monday, March 15. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.

It sits directly beside a weekend rather than inside a working week, so it extends an existing break instead of creating a new one. That is the cheapest position a holiday can occupy: the month loses a day but keeps its shape.

ten working days pass before the closure and 12 follow it, which puts the break just short of the month's midpoint. A closure near the middle divides the month into two usable halves rather than trimming one end of it.

The closures around this month

March 2027 carries one Mexican federal closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was Día de la Constitución on February 1, 2027, 28 calendar days before March began and the next is Día de la Independencia on September 16, 2027, 169 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Mexican federal calendar puts five closures on working days, of which one falls in March. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

A midweek close

The month ends in the middle of a working week. Two working days of the final calendar week fall in March and the remainder in the month after, which makes the closing week a partial period on both sides. A midweek close is the pattern most likely to push month-end tasks into the following month by default, simply because the week continues past the boundary.

The last working day of March 2027 is Wednesday, March 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Monday, March 29, two calendar days before the month closes.

The quarter closes here

March closes Q1, so the quarter's last working day and this month's last working day are the same date. Everything the quarter has deferred arrives inside these 22 días hábiles, and there is no further month in the period to move it into.

Across the whole quarter there are 61 días hábiles, of which 22 fall in March. The other two months carry January 2027 with 20 and February 2027 with 19. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of March lands in a month with less room than this one had.

The week's first working day is the scarcest

The first working day of the week is the one March gives least often. Anything anchored to the start of the working week (a weekly kickoff, a Monday-morning cutoff, a start-of-week batch) fires fewer times this month than the calendar count suggests, because a closure has taken one of them out.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, March 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 5, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the long end of the year

March sits among the longer working months of 2027 under the Mexican federal calendar. Where a month falls in that ranking is decided by two independent things, its calendar length and how many closures land on its working days, so a month can move several places between adjacent years without its length changing at all.

2027 carries 256 días hábiles in total under the Mexican federal calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2027 with 23 and the shortest is February 2027 with 19, a spread of 4. March ranks 2nd of the twelve with 22.

Mexico closures across the year

A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Mexico is placed as follows.

Across 2027 the Mexican federal closures fall 3 in Q1, 0 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 1 in Q4. A further two holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between March 15, 2027 and September 16, 2027, 185 calendar days with no Mexican federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Mexican federal calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Mexican federal closures with Año Nuevo on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Día de la Revolución on November 15, 2027. The densest month of the year is January 2027 with one closure on working days.

One working day more than last year

There is one more días hábile in March 2027 than in March 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.

March opens 2026 on a Sunday, 2027 on a Monday, and 2028 on a Wednesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, March 2028 carries 22 días hábiles.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in March 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Mexican federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in March 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of March on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on March 31, 2027, a working day under the Mexican federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Mexico calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in March 2027 under the Mexican federal holiday calendar?
March 2027 has 22 días hábiles under the Mexican federal holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 8 fall on a weekend and 1 is a Mexican federal holiday that lands on a weekday. The remaining 22 weekdays are countable as días hábiles for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Mexico holidays affect March 2027?
March 2027 contains one Mexican federal holiday: Natalicio de Benito Juárez on Monday, March 15. The calculator skips it. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
Why are some Mexican holidays observed on Mondays and others on fixed dates?
A decree published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on January 17, 2006 rewrote Article 74 of the Ley Federal del Trabajo so that three holidays follow a weekday rule instead of a date. Fracción II makes Día de la Constitución the first Monday of February "en conmemoración del 5 de febrero", so it can fall anywhere from the 1st to the 7th. Fracción III makes Natalicio de Benito Juárez the third Monday of March in commemoration of March 21, which places it between the 15th and the 21st. Fracción VI does the same for Día de la Revolución in November, again the 15th to the 21st. Año Nuevo (January 1), Día del Trabajo (May 1), Día de la Independencia (September 16) and Navidad (December 25) keep their dates whatever the weekday: Article 74 provides no move for them.
How is presidential transmission day handled here?
Fracción VII of Article 74 of the Ley Federal del Trabajo makes October 1 a día de descanso obligatorio every six years, when it corresponds to the transmission of federal executive power. A reform published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on September 30, 2024 moved it there from December 1. It applied in 2024 and next applies in 2030. The holiday data this calculator uses lists October 1 only in a year in which the fracción applies.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Mexico. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Mexican federal holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. March 2026 had 21 días hábiles, so March 2027 has 1 more working day year over year.
When is the last working day of March 2027?
The last working day of March 2027 under the Mexican federal calendar is Wednesday, March 31. The month's last calendar day is Wednesday, March 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Monday, March 29.
How many working days in a row does March 2027 offer?
March 2027 has 22 días hábiles in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in five stretches of 5, 5, 4, 5, and 3 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from March 1 to March 5. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
