No Canadian federal holidays fall on a weekday in February 2027, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.
Canada February deadlines
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) puts the filing due date for T4 and T4A information returns on the last day of February after the calendar year they report, the 28th or the 29th. When that day is a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the information return is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is postmarked, on or before the next business day. 28 February 2027 is a Sunday. Section 146(5) of the Income Tax Act, which sets the deduction for premiums paid to a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP), counts for a tax year the premiums paid on or before the day that is 60 days after the end of the year: 1 March, or 29 February when February has 29 days. In 2027 that day is Monday 1 March. None of the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists falls in February. Family Day is not one of them: the Toronto Stock Exchange's lists of market holidays for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on it, and the Canada calculator page links a page for each province and territory, each of which counts its own list.

Canada reporting cycles and business-day rules
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a remitter type sets how often payroll deductions are remitted and affects the due dates. A regular remitter's due date is the 15th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 1 remitter remits up to twice a month: for the 1st to the 15th by the 25th day of the same month, and for the 16th to the end of the month by the 10th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 2 remitter remits up to four times a month, by the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. A quarterly remitter's due dates are April 15, July 15, October 15 and January 15. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the payment is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is processed at a Canadian financial institution, on or before the next business day. The Toronto Stock Exchange publishes its own list of market closures. Its lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday, which are not among the ten general holidays of section 166 of the Canada Labour Code, and do not list Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are.

How February 2027 compares year over year
February 2026 also had 20 business days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, January 2027 has 20 business days and March 2027 has 22. Looking forward, February 2028 has 21 business days under the same Canadian federal holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Canada
The 20-day count for February 2027 is Monday to Friday less the weekday dates this site's data lists for the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) states an accelerated Threshold 2 remitter's payroll remittance due dates in working days: the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. For its due dates the CRA recognizes its own list of public holidays. The CRA's list of public holidays includes Easter Monday and a Civic Holiday, neither of which is among the Code's ten general holidays, so this calculator's federal list is not the CRA's list.

How February 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many business days February 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Canadian federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The only month whose length changes
February is the shortest month and the only one whose length is not fixed, running 28 days in a common year and 29 in a leap year. A 28-day February is exactly four seven-day cycles, which makes it the only month capable of containing precisely four of every weekday. February 2027 runs 28 days, so it has that perfectly regular shape.
In February 2027 that comes to 20 business days across 28 calendar days, against 20 in January 2027 and 22 in March 2027.
A clean start to the working week
February 2027 opens on the first working day of the week. That is the alignment where the month's own numbering and the working week agree: week one of the month is a whole working week that belongs entirely to February, with nothing borrowed from the month before. Of the 5 possible starts this is the only one where "the first week" and "the first 5 business days" describe the same span.
The opening stretch runs from Monday, February 1 to February 5, five business days before the first break. February 2027 carries 20 business days in total, so that opening block is 25% of the month's working capacity.
How the working days break up
The working days of February 2027 fall into four separate stretches. The count of stretches matters more than it looks: a month's total is the sum of its runs, but a deliverable that needs consecutive days is limited by the longest single run, and the two numbers move independently.
The working days of February 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from February 1 to February 5. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is balanced end to end. Its opening and closing stretches are the same length, five days each, so work pushed from the start of February to its end finds the same amount of room it left behind. That symmetry is the exception rather than the rule.
The only perfectly regular month
A 28-day February is exactly four seven-day cycles, so every weekday occurs four times and no weekday is over-represented. It is the only month of the year that can be perfectly regular, and it means February's working-day count in a common year depends on nothing but its holidays: the weekday alignment cannot change the answer.
Only Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
A month with no closures, and a lean one
No Canadian federal holiday falls anywhere in February 2027. When a month carries no closure, its working-day count is decided entirely by which weekday it opens on and how long it runs, so the whole of the difference between this month and its neighbours is calendar alignment. Here that alignment produces 20 business days, at the low end of what a 28-day month can yield.
A short count with no holiday in it is worth flagging on a plan, because the usual explanation does not apply: nothing was lost to a closure. The month simply begins and ends in positions that put more of its days on the Saturday and Sunday weekend.
The closures on either side of the month
Nothing closes inside February 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar, so the useful question is what sits on either side of it. Adjacent closures matter to a monthly plan because deadlines that fall near a month boundary are usually satisfied on the other side of it.
Looking outside the month, the last was New Year's Day on January 1, 2027, 31 calendar days before February began and the next is Good Friday on March 26, 2027, 26 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Canadian federal calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which none falls in February. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends over a weekend
February 2027 ends on a Sunday, which this calendar treats as weekend. Month-end processing cannot happen on the last calendar day, so it happens earlier and the last few dates of the month carry no settlement at all. The distance between the final working day and the final calendar day is where month-end reconciliations go missing.
The last working day of February 2027 is Friday, February 26. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, February 24, four calendar days before the month closes.
The working month ends on the last working day of a week, so the final stretch is a complete one and nothing is left hanging mid-week. Two calendar days of February follow it with nothing settling on them.
The middle month of the quarter
February is the middle month of Q1. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.
Across the whole quarter there are 62 business days, of which 20 fall in February. The other two months carry January 2027 with 20 and March 2027 with 22. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit February.
Every working weekday occurs the same number of times
February 2027 works each weekday of its week the same number of times. That is the flat case, and it is the only one where a weekly recurring commitment costs the same whichever weekday it is pinned to. It happens when the month's length and its closures happen to cancel, not because the month is regular: the calendar census above and this one can agree for quite different reasons.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, February 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the short end of the year
February sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.
2027 carries 251 business days in total under the Canadian federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is October 2027 with 20, a spread of 2. February ranks 9th of the twelve with 20.
Inside the year's longest clear run
February 2027 sits inside the longest stretch of 2027 with no Canadian federal closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.
Across 2027 the Canadian federal closures fall 2 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the Canadian federal data for 2027 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between January 1, 2027 and March 26, 2027, 84 calendar days with no Canadian federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Canadian federal calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Canadian federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is September 2027 with two closures on working days.
The same count as last year
February 2027 and February 2026 carry the same number of business days, 20 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.
February opens 2026 on a Sunday, 2027 on a Monday, and 2028 on a Tuesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, February 2028 carries 21 business days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in February 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Canadian federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Canadian federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 1 | Monday | Working day | February 1 |
| February 5 | Friday | Working day | February 5 |
| February 10 | Wednesday | Working day | February 10 |
| February 15 | Monday | Working day | February 15 |
| February 20 | Saturday | Weekend | February 22, 2027 |
| February 25 | Thursday | Working day | February 25 |
| February 28 | Sunday | Weekend | March 1, 2027 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in February 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of February on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on March 3, 2027, a working day under the Canadian federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated February 1 | March 3, 2027 | April 2, 2027 |
| Dated February 15 | March 17, 2027 | April 16, 2027 |
| Dated February 28 | March 30, 2027 | April 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Canada calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
