Vietnam September deadlines

National Day is 2 September plus one adjacent day before or after it, both paid under Article 112(1), and the Prime Minister fixes the adjacent day each year (Article 112(3)). For 2026 notice 9441/TB-BNV set 1 and 2 September for public servants and let other employers take 2 September with either 1 or 3 September, announced to workers at least 30 days ahead; this calculator follows the public-sector days. For 2027, notice 11483/TB-BNV of 9 October 2026 sets 2 and 3 September for public servants and again lets other employers take 2 September with either 1 or 3 September; the calculator carries 2 and 3 September. Monthly declarations for August are due by September 20.

Those dates in 2027

Every date named above falls on a working day in 2027 under the Vietnamese national calendar. That is worth checking rather than assuming: the same calendar date moves through the week from year to year, so a date that settles cleanly this year may not next year.

Vietnam reporting cycles and business-day rules

Vietnamese business days in this calculator follow the Labour Code and the public-sector week. Article 112 of Labour Code 45/2019/QH14 grants 11 paid holiday days: New Year's Day, five days for Tet, 30 April, 1 May, National Day on 2 September plus one adjacent day before or after it, and Hung Kings Commemoration Day on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, a paid holiday since Law 84/2007/QH11. Each year the Prime Minister fixes which days Tet and the National Day pair fall on (Article 112(3)), and the Ministry of Home Affairs announces them, as notice 9441/TB-BNV did for 2026. When a weekly rest day coincides with one of these holidays, Article 111(3) gives the worker a compensatory day on the next working day, automatically. From 2026, Resolution 28/2026/QH16 of the National Assembly adds a paid day off on 24 November, Vietnam Culture Day. The Labour Code itself lets an employer place the weekly rest on Sunday or another day (Article 111(2)); the Saturday and Sunday weekend used here is the fixed five-day week that Decision 188/1999/QĐ-TTg set for state agencies. Tax filing follows Decree 252/2026/NĐ-CP, in force with the Law on Tax Administration 108/2025/QH15 from 1 July 2026: the 20th of the following month for taxes declared monthly, the last day of the first month of the next quarter for those declared quarterly, and the next working day when a deadline falls on a day off. The tax authority is Cục Thuế under the Ministry of Finance, which took over from the General Department of Taxation in 2025.

How September 2027 compares year over year

September 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, August 2027 has 22 working days and October 2027 has 21. Looking forward, September 2028 has 19 working days under the same Vietnamese national holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Vietnam

A Ho Chi Minh City finance team uses the 20-day September 2027 count because Decree 252/2026/NĐ-CP moves any tax deadline that lands on a day off to the next working day, so a 20th or a month-end that falls on a holiday or a weekend is filed later than its nominal date. A Hanoi manufacturer plans around Tet, whose five paid days under Article 112 of the Labour Code the Prime Minister places each year; the placement, the weekends around it and any compensatory days together set how long the closure runs. A Da Nang listed company works back from the Ministry of Finance's disclosure limits: 20 days after each quarter for quarterly financial statements and 45 days after the half-year for reviewed half-year statements.

How September 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many working days September 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Vietnamese national holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The month that closes the third quarter

September runs 30 days and closes Q3, so its last working day is also the quarter's. It shares its weekday alignment with December in every year, which means the September and December calendars are the same shape and differ only in length and in what closes them. That pairing is worth knowing when a plan is copied between the two quarters.

In September 2027 that comes to 20 working days across 30 calendar days, against 22 in August 2027 and 21 in October 2027.

A midweek start

September 2027 begins in the middle of a working week. Two of that week's working days belong to the month before and the rest to this one, so the first row of any weekly report covering September is a partial row. Midweek starts are the ones that most often produce an apparent dip in week-one output: the week is short, not the team.

The month's first working day is Wednesday, September 1, and September 2027 carries 20 working days in total.

Five working stretches

September splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.

The working days of September 2027 arrive in stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, and 4 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from September 6 to September 10. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is back-loaded. It opens with one consecutive day and closes with four, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.

Two weekdays occur five times

Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Wednesday and Thursday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.

All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Wednesday and Thursday each occur 5 times. Had the surplus fallen on the weekend instead, the same month would carry 18 working days rather than 20.

Two closures in the month

Two Vietnamese national holidays fall on working days in September 2027: National Day (day 1) on Thursday, September 2 and National Day (day 2) on Friday, September 3. Two closures remove two days from the total, but their effect on the month's usable structure depends on how far apart they are.

The two sit one calendar day apart, close enough that the working days between them are hemmed in on both sides. A pair this tight behaves more like one long interruption than two separate ones.

Exactly one working day passes before the closure. A single day of runway is not enough to start anything that has to continue, so in practice the month begins after the break rather than before it.

The closures around this month

September 2027 carries two Vietnamese national closures of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was Labour Day (additional) on May 3, 2027, 121 calendar days before September began and the next is Vietnam Culture Day on November 24, 2027, 55 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Vietnamese national calendar puts 12 closures on working days, of which two fall in September. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

One working day short of the week

September 2027 closes on the fourth working day of its final week, one day short of a full week. The remaining working day of that week belongs to the next month, so the last calendar week of September is split across two reporting periods. Weekly and monthly figures for that week will not agree, and the difference is one working day.

The last working day of September 2027 is Thursday, September 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Tuesday, September 28, two calendar days before the month closes.

The quarter closes here

September closes Q3, so the quarter's last working day and this month's last working day are the same date. Everything the quarter has deferred arrives inside these 20 working days, and there is no further month in the period to move it into.

Across the whole quarter there are 64 working days, of which 20 fall in September. The other two months carry July 2027 with 22 and August 2027 with 22. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit September.

The week's last working day is the scarcest

The last working day of the week is the one September gives least often. That matters more than the equivalent shortfall mid-week, because end-of-week cutoffs tend to be the ones that cannot move: work deferred past them waits out the whole weekend rather than a single night.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, September 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5, Thursday 4, and Friday 3. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the short end of the year

September sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the Vietnamese national calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.

2027 carries 249 working days in total under the Vietnamese national calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 23 and the shortest is February 2027 with 15, a spread of 8. September ranks 11th of the twelve with 20.

Inside one of the year's denser months

September 2027 carries more than one Vietnamese national closure, which puts it among the year's denser months. Closures are never spread evenly across a year, so a month's own count says as much about the country's calendar as about the month.

Across 2027 the Vietnamese national closures fall 6 in Q1, 3 in Q2, 2 in Q3, and 1 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Saturday and Sunday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 3, 2027 and September 2, 2027, 122 calendar days with no Vietnamese national closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Vietnamese national calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Vietnamese national closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Vietnam Culture Day on November 24, 2027. The densest month of the year is February 2027 with five closures on working days.

The same count as last year

September 2027 and September 2026 carry the same number of working days, 20 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.

September opens 2026 on a Tuesday, 2027 on a Wednesday, and 2028 on a Friday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, September 2028 carries 19 working days.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in September 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Vietnamese national calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

DateWeekdayStatus under the Vietnamese national calendarFirst working day on or after
September 1WednesdayWorking daySeptember 1

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in September 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of September on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on October 1, 2027, a working day under the Vietnamese national calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days
Dated September 1October 1, 2027October 31, 2027 (rolls to November 1, 2027)
Dated September 15October 15, 2027November 14, 2027 (rolls to November 15, 2027)
Dated September 30October 30, 2027 (rolls to November 1, 2027)November 29, 2027

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Vietnam calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in September 2027 under the Vietnamese national holiday calendar?
September 2027 has 20 working days under the Vietnamese national holiday calendar. The month spans 30 calendar days, of which 8 fall on a weekend and 2 are Vietnamese national holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 20 weekdays are countable as working days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Vietnam holidays affect September 2027?
September 2027 contains 2 Vietnamese national holidays: National Day (day 1) on Thursday, September 2; National Day (day 2) on Friday, September 3. The calculator skips each of them. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
How long is the Tet closure each year?
Article 112 of the Labour Code grants five paid days for Tet, and Article 112(3) leaves the Prime Minister to fix which five each year; the Ministry of Home Affairs then announces the arrangement. The closure people plan around is longer because the five days are joined to the weekends on either side, and because Article 111(3) adds a compensatory working day for any of them that lands on a weekly rest day. For 2026, notice 9441/TB-BNV gave public servants Monday 16 to Friday 20 February, which with the two weekends made a closure from 14 to 22 February, and left private employers to take one, two or three days before the new year and the rest after it. This calculator follows the published arrangement where one exists and tags later years' Tet dates (approximate) until it does; either way a year costs five working days for Tet.
When is Hung Kings Commemoration Day?
Hung Kings Commemoration Day (Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương) falls on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, so its Gregorian date moves from year to year. Law 84/2007/QH11 added it to the paid holidays of the then Labour Code in 2007, and Article 112 of the 2019 Code keeps it. When it falls on a weekly rest day, Article 111(3) gives the next working day off automatically, with no decree needed: 26 April 2026 was a Sunday, so Monday 27 April was the day off.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Vietnam. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Vietnamese national holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. September 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year.
When is the last working day of September 2027?
The last working day of September 2027 under the Vietnamese national calendar is Thursday, September 30. The month's last calendar day is Thursday, September 30, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Tuesday, September 28.
How many working days in a row does September 2027 offer?
September 2027 has 20 working days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in five stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, and 4 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from September 6 to September 10. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
