Alberta Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: June 24, 2026

Calculate business days in Alberta with its own statutory holidays. Alberta shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Canada, but its statutory holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the federal count.

How Alberta differs from the federal Canadian holidays

Alberta follows the federal Canadian holidays and adds Family Day on the third Monday of February under the Employment Standards Code. Alberta keeps Remembrance Day as a general holiday but does not treat Easter Monday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (30 September), or Boxing Day as general holidays, so those three federal days are dropped from an Alberta count. Heritage Day on the first Monday of August is an optional day rather than a general holiday, so it is left out of the count. The working week is Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Sunday weekend.

Worked example

Adding 2 business days to Friday, February 13, 2026 using Alberta's statutory holidays lands on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. With the federal Canadian holidays, the same calculation lands on Tuesday, February 17, 2026: the gap comes from Alberta's own calendar.
