They are the holidays of employees of federally regulated employers, a group that includes banks and airlines. When New Year's Day, Canada Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day or Boxing Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday that is a non-working day, section 193(2) gives a holiday with pay on the working day immediately before or after it. Of those two days the table shows the following one, the next Monday-to-Friday day that is not already a listed holiday, marked (observed): that is this site's choice, and the Code allows the preceding working day as well.

Days such as Family Day are not on the federal list.
