Nova Scotia Business Day Calculator
Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: June 24, 2026
Calculate business days in Nova Scotia with its own statutory holidays. Nova Scotia shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Canada, but its statutory holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the federal count.
How Nova Scotia differs from the federal Canadian holidays
Nova Scotia has the shortest paid-holiday list in the country: the Labour Standards Code gives qualifying employees six paid holidays. It adds Nova Scotia Heritage Day on the third Monday of February and does not treat Easter Monday, Victoria Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (30 September), Thanksgiving, or Boxing Day as paid statutory holidays, so a Nova Scotia count drops those five federal days. Remembrance Day is a retail closing day under the separate Remembrance Day Act rather than a Code paid holiday, so it is noted here but left out of the paid-holiday count. The working week is Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Sunday weekend.
Worked example
Adding 2 business days to Friday, February 13, 2026 using Nova Scotia's statutory holidays lands on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. With the federal Canadian holidays, the same calculation lands on Tuesday, February 17, 2026: the gap comes from Nova Scotia's own calendar.
