The 2028 table for Nunavut lists 11 dates: 6 fall on a weekday and 5 on a weekend. This page's title says statutory holidays, the holidays a statute sets; Nunavut's Labour Standards Act calls them general holidays. That leaves 254 working days in 2028. Like the Canada calculator, this page counts Monday to Friday as working days; what changes is the holiday list.
How Nunavut differs from the federal Canadian holidays
Nunavut's Labour Standards Act, as amended in 2022 (S.Nu. 2022, c. 14, s. 5), names eleven days as general holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Nunavut Day, the first Monday in August, Labour Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (observed on 30 September), Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day and Christmas Day. It adds the day the Governor General fixes for the sovereign's birthday, for which this calendar lists no date of its own. Against the federal Canadian set that adds Nunavut Day and the first Monday in August (the Civic Holiday) and leaves out Boxing Day, so that federal day is dropped. When a general holiday falls on an employee's non-working day, section 25(2) lets the employer either pay for it or give a holiday with pay at a time convenient to employer and employee, no later than the next annual vacation. Paying closes no weekday and the day off has no fixed date, so this calendar counts none: a general holiday on a Saturday or Sunday stays on its own date and no weekday is added for it.
