How Prince Edward Island differs from the federal Canadian holidays
Prince Edward Island has eight paid holidays under the Employment Standards Act. It adds Islander Day on the third Monday of February and, unlike most provinces, observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (30 September) as a provincial paid holiday. PEI does not treat Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Thanksgiving, or Boxing Day as paid holidays, so those four federal days are dropped. Gold Cup Parade Day on the third Friday of August is a Charlottetown-area holiday rather than a province-wide one, so it is noted here but left out of the province-wide count. The working week is Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Sunday weekend.
