Holidays in France 2027

Two Fridays sit alone between a holiday and the weekend in 2027: Friday 7 May, after Ascension on Thursday 6 May, and Friday 12 November, after Armistice on Thursday 11 November. Lundi de Pâques on 29 March and Lundi de Pentecôte on 17 May each make a three-day weekend without one, and Fête Nationale on Wednesday 14 July falls mid-week.

Nothing in the law turns either Friday into a day off. Service-public.fr describes the pont as an unregulated practice that exists only where a collective agreement provides it or the employer decides it, and the hours not worked may be made up during the 12 months before or after, paid at the normal rate.

The two extra fêtes légales of Alsace-Moselle fall differently in 2027. Vendredi Saint, which applies in communes with a Protestant temple or a mixed church, is Friday 26 March, three days before Lundi de Pâques, so in those communes Easter becomes a four-day weekend from Friday 26 to Monday 29 March. The second day of Christmas is Sunday 26 December, the day after Noël on Saturday, so both Christmas days fall on the weekend and neither removes a working day. The calculator's national set includes neither; add Vendredi Saint under Advanced options for a count in those communes.

Each overseas department (Drom), and Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, also keeps the commemoration of the abolition of slavery as a public holiday on its own date. The 2027 weekdays are Tuesday 27 April in Mayotte, Saturday 22 May in Martinique, Thursday 27 May in Guadeloupe and Saint-Martin, Thursday 10 June in Guyane, Saturday 9 October in Saint-Barthélemy and Monday 20 December in La Réunion. Martinique's and Saint-Barthélemy's fall on a Saturday and take no working day; the others do, and none is in the national set this calculator counts.

Employers organise one extra unpaid working day a year, the journée de solidarité, by collective agreement or, failing one, themselves after consulting the comité social et économique. It may be a jour férié previously not worked, other than 1 May; Lundi de Pentecôte, Monday 17 May 2027, is the example service-public.fr gives. Where a firm chooses it, May 2027 has one more working day for that firm than this calculator shows, and in Alsace-Moselle the day may not be 25 or 26 December or Vendredi Saint.
