Bern Public Holidays 2028

Last reviewed: October 14, 2026 · Holiday data: October 8, 2026

The 2028 table for Bern lists 9 dates: 7 fall on a weekday and 2 on a weekend. That leaves 253 working days in 2028. Like the Switzerland calculator, this page counts Monday to Friday as working days; what changes is the holiday list.

How Bern differs from the Switzerland calculator

Bern's law on public holidays (Gesetz über die Ruhe an öffentlichen Feiertagen, BSG 555.1, Art. 2) counts Karfreitag, Auffahrt and Weihnachten among its high feast days and names as further public holidays the Neujahrstag, 2 January, Ostermontag, Pfingstmontag, the Bundesfeiertag and 26 December. Against this site's eight-day Swiss baseline that adds one day, Berchtoldstag on 2 January, and drops none. 2 January falls on a Friday in 2026, a Saturday in 2027 and a Sunday in 2028, so it closes a weekday only in 2026.
