Zürich Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: October 14, 2026 · Holiday data: October 8, 2026

Calculate business days in Zürich with its own cantonal public holidays. Like the Switzerland calculator, this page counts Monday to Friday as working days; what changes is the holiday list, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the Switzerland calculator's count.

How Zürich differs from the Switzerland calculator

Zürich's list of statutory holidays, which the canton treats as equal to Sundays, matches this site's eight-day Swiss baseline and adds Tag der Arbeit (Labour Day) on 1 May. No baseline day is dropped. The canton calls Sechseläuten, Fasnachtsmontag, Knabenschiessen and Berchtoldstag local, non-statutory holidays: a paid day or half-day off on them exists only where it has been agreed, for example in an employment contract or a collective labour agreement. They are not in this count.

Worked example

Adding 2 business days to Wednesday, April 29, 2026 using Zürich's holidays lands on Monday, May 4, 2026. With the Switzerland calculator's holidays, the same calculation lands on Friday, May 1, 2026: the gap comes from Zürich's own calendar.
