The 2026 China holiday table below lists 33 dates, each one a day this calculator treats as closed. 19 fall on a weekday and 14 land on a weekend, leaving 242 working days across the year on the national-only count. A date is not always a holiday of its own: 33 are numbered days of a holiday that lasts more than one day.

The 14 weekend dates in 2026 fall on a Saturday or Sunday, days the count already excludes, so the working-day reduction comes only from the 19 weekday dates. China's holidays come in two layers. The Public Holiday Measures, as revised by State Council Order No. 795 with effect from 1 January 2025, grant thirteen statutory days a year: one for New Year, four for Spring Festival, two for Labour Day, three for National Day, and one each for Qingming, Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn. Article 7 then allows those days to be arranged into longer breaks by moving rest days. For each of the years 2024 to 2026 the General Office of the State Council issued a notice, approved by the State Council, with that year's arrangement: the days taken off and the Saturdays and Sundays worked in exchange. The longer closures come from each year's notice and are not in the Measures: in this data the Spring Festival block is 8, 8 and 9 days long in 2024, 2025 and 2026 and the National Day block 7, 8 and 7.

Holidays not included
This set is the mainland list: for 2024 to 2026 the closure dates of the General Office of the State Council's holiday notices, and for a later year this site's own projections. It does not include Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan. The calculator never counts a Saturday or Sunday, so it does not count the weekend days a notice turns into working days (2026: 4 Saturdays and 2 Sundays, 4 January and 20 September). A span that contains one of them comes out one business day short of a calendar that follows the notice.
