How Appenzell Innerrhoden differs from the national Swiss holidays
Appenzell Innerrhoden is the Catholic half-canton and adds four days to the national Swiss set across the canton: Fronleichnam (Corpus Christi), Mariä Himmelfahrt on 15 August, Allerheiligen on 1 November and Mariä Empfängnis on 8 December. The Mauritiustag (22 September) is observed in the canton apart from the Bezirk Oberegg, so it is not fully canton-wide and is explained here rather than counted. Its neighbour Appenzell Ausserrhoden observes none of these days canton-wide, which is why only Innerrhoden has a separate calendar. Stephanstag and the Easter and Whit Mondays are kept, and the weekend is Saturday and Sunday.
