Fribourg Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: October 14, 2026 · Holiday data: October 8, 2026

Calculate business days in Fribourg with its own cantonal public holidays. Like the Switzerland calculator, this page counts Monday to Friday as working days; what changes is the holiday list, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the Switzerland calculator's count.

How Fribourg differs from the Switzerland calculator

Fribourg's law on employment and the labour market (LEMT, RSF 866.1.1, art. 49) makes four days holidays across the whole canton: Nouvel-An, Vendredi-Saint, Ascension and Noël. Every other holiday depends on the commune. Communes with a Roman Catholic majority add Fête-Dieu, Assomption, Toussaint and Immaculée-Conception; communes with a Reformed majority add the lendemain du Nouvel-An (2 January), lundi de Pâques, lundi de Pentecôte and lendemain de Noël (26 December), and the canton's jours fériés page names those communes. This page counts the canton-wide days and 1 August, so against this site's eight-day Swiss baseline it drops Easter Monday, Whit Monday and 26 December and adds nothing. For a business in a particular commune, add that commune's four days under Advanced options.

Worked example

Adding 1 business day to Thursday, April 2, 2026 using Fribourg's holidays lands on Monday, April 6, 2026. With the Switzerland calculator's holidays, the same calculation lands on Tuesday, April 7, 2026: the gap comes from Fribourg's own calendar.

How to count Fribourg business days

For an interactive calculation, use the Switzerland calculator and add Fribourg's own dates under Advanced options, one per line in YYYY-MM-DD form; the Fribourg public holidays 2026 page linked below lists the dates. The Advanced options can add dates but not remove them, so a count that crosses Ostermontag (Easter Monday) (Monday, April 6, 2026) and Pfingstmontag (Whit Monday) (Monday, May 25, 2026), days in the Switzerland calculator's set but not in Fribourg's calendar, will land one working day later than Fribourg's own for each of those dates it crosses.

Fribourg public holiday data is verified against the Fribourg Loi sur l'emploi et le marché du travail (RSF 866.1.1), art. 49, bdlf.fr.ch.

Fribourg FAQ

Does the Fribourg calculator use different holidays from the Switzerland calculator?

Which days does the Fribourg calculator count as working days?
Monday to Friday, with Saturday and Sunday as the weekend: the same days the Switzerland calculator counts. Only the cantonal holiday set changes.
