How Luzern differs from the Switzerland calculator
Luzern's law on rest days (SRL 855, § 1a) makes ten days public rest days across the whole canton: Neujahr, Karfreitag, Auffahrt, Fronleichnam, the Bundesfeiertag, Mariä Himmelfahrt (15 August), Allerheiligen (1 November), Mariä Empfängnis (8 December), Weihnachten and Stefanstag. Easter Monday and Whit Monday are not on that list, so this page counts them as working days. Against this site's eight-day Swiss baseline that adds Fronleichnam, Mariä Himmelfahrt, Allerheiligen and Mariä Empfängnis and drops Ostermontag and Pfingstmontag. The Josefstag (19 March) and the parish patron's day are rest days only in the communes that declare them, so they are not counted.
Worked example
Adding 1 business day to Wednesday, June 3, 2026 using Luzern's holidays lands on Friday, June 5, 2026. With the Switzerland calculator's holidays, the same calculation lands on Thursday, June 4, 2026: the gap comes from Luzern's own calendar.

How to count Luzern business days
For an interactive calculation, use the Switzerland calculator and add Luzern's own dates under Advanced options, one per line in YYYY-MM-DD form; the Luzern public holidays 2026 page linked below lists the dates. The Advanced options can add dates but not remove them, so a count that crosses Ostermontag (Easter Monday) (Monday, April 6, 2026) and Pfingstmontag (Whit Monday) (Monday, May 25, 2026), days in the Switzerland calculator's set but not in Luzern's calendar, will land one working day later than Luzern's own for each of those dates it crosses.
