Thurgau Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: June 24, 2026

Calculate business days in Thurgau with its own cantonal public holidays. Thurgau shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Switzerland, but its holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the national count.

How Thurgau differs from the national Swiss holidays

Thurgau adds two canton-wide days to the national Swiss set: Berchtoldstag on 2 January, which Thurgau recognises as a holiday rather than leaving it a mere custom, and Tag der Arbeit (Labour Day) on 1 May. Thurgau is one of only two cantons, with Vaud, that has no purely regional holidays and no widely-kept-but-unrecognised days, so its canton-wide calendar is clean. In 2026 both added days fall on weekdays (Berchtoldstag on a Friday, 1 May on a Friday); in 2027 both fall on a Saturday and do not move a deadline. Stephanstag and the Easter and Whit Mondays are kept, and the weekend is Saturday and Sunday.

Worked example

Adding 1 business days to Wednesday, December 31, 2025 using Thurgau's holidays lands on Monday, January 5, 2026. With the national Swiss holidays, the same calculation lands on Friday, January 2, 2026: the gap comes from Thurgau's own calendar.
