Ticino Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: June 24, 2026

Calculate business days in Ticino with its own cantonal public holidays. Ticino shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Switzerland, but its holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the national count.

How Ticino differs from the national Swiss holidays

Ticino is a historically Catholic, Italian-speaking canton with the longest cantonal calendar of this group. Beyond the national Swiss set it adds eight days: Epifania (6 January), San Giuseppe (19 March), Primo Maggio (1 May), Corpus Domini (Corpus Christi, the Thursday 60 days after Easter), Santi Pietro e Paolo (29 June), Assunzione (15 August), Ognissanti (1 November) and Immacolata Concezione (8 December). It also drops one national day: along with Valais, Ticino is one of only two cantons that do not observe Good Friday. Easter Monday and Whit Monday are kept. The net effect is a working-day count well below the national one in most years.

Worked example

Adding 1 business days to Monday, January 5, 2026 using Ticino's holidays lands on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. With the national Swiss holidays, the same calculation lands on Tuesday, January 6, 2026: the gap comes from Ticino's own calendar.
