Calculate business days in Uri with its own cantonal public holidays. Uri shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Switzerland, but its holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the national count.
How Uri differs from the national Swiss holidays
Uri is a fully Catholic canton and observes six days beyond the national Swiss set across the whole canton: Heilige Drei Könige (Epiphany) on 6 January, Josefstag (St Joseph's Day) on 19 March, Fronleichnam (Corpus Christi) on the Thursday 60 days after Easter, Mariä Himmelfahrt (Assumption) on 15 August, Allerheiligen (All Saints' Day) on 1 November and Mariä Empfängnis (Immaculate Conception) on 8 December. All eight national days, including Karfreitag, the Easter and Whit Mondays and Stephanstag, are kept. The working week is Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Sunday weekend, so a Uri due date can land several days later than the national one in a year where these feasts fall on weekdays.
Worked example
Adding 1 business days to Monday, January 5, 2026 using Uri's holidays lands on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. With the national Swiss holidays, the same calculation lands on Tuesday, January 6, 2026: the gap comes from Uri's own calendar.
