The 2026 table for Queensland lists 12 dates: 8 fall on a weekday and 4 on a weekend, and 1 of them is marked (observed) or (additional). That leaves 253 working days in 2026. Like the Australia calculator, this page counts Monday to Friday as working days; what changes is the holiday list.
How Queensland differs from the national Australian holidays
Queensland's Holidays Act 1983 departs from the national calendar. It adds the day after Good Friday (Easter Saturday), Easter Sunday and Labour Day on the first Monday in May, and it puts the King's Birthday on the first Monday in October, so the national June date is dropped. Anzac Day is observed on 25 April or, if 25 April is a Sunday, on the following Monday: Monday 26 April 2027 takes the place of Sunday 25 April 2027, while Saturday 25 April 2026 stays as it is with no extra day. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day are public holidays on their own dates every year, and the Act adds 27 or 28 December, or 2 or 3 January, when the date falls on a weekend. The Royal Queensland Show holiday applies to the Brisbane area only, so it is left out of the statewide count.

Queensland's public holiday rules, applied to 2026
Queensland adds the day after Good Friday (Easter Saturday), Easter Sunday and Labour Day on the first Monday in May, and its Holidays Act 1983 puts the Birthday of the Sovereign, the King's Birthday, on the first Monday in October, where this site's national set has the second Monday of June. In 2026 those days are Easter Saturday on Saturday, April 4, Easter Sunday on Sunday, April 5, Labour Day on Monday, May 4, and King's Birthday on Monday, October 5.
25 April is a Saturday in 2026. The Holidays Act 1983 substitutes a Monday only for a Sunday Anzac Day, so a Saturday produces no extra day and the holiday costs no working day.
The Holidays Act 1983 adds a weekday for a weekend year-end holiday rather than replacing the weekend date. The rule is stated in the schedule's separate 27 December, 28 December, 2 January and 3 January entries. Boxing Day falls on a Saturday and stays a public holiday, with Monday, December 28 added.
The Holidays Act 1983 puts the King's Birthday on Monday, October 5; this site's national set has Monday, June 8, which is why the June date is listed as a national date not in Queensland's table.
Queensland appoints show holidays district by district under section 4 of the Holidays Act 1983, and the one in the Queensland Government's public holidays table is the Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane area only): Wednesday, August 12 in 2026. A count confined to Brisbane loses that Wednesday as well; this statewide page keeps it as a working day.
How Queensland's 2026 total is built
A year's working days are its weekdays minus the holidays that land on them, and both halves move. The weekday supply depends only on the year's length and the weekday it starts on; the holiday half depends on where each fixed date falls that year. 2026 runs 365 days, 52 whole weeks and one day over. Weekend public holidays in 2026, and what Queensland does with each
A public holiday on a Saturday or Sunday removes no working day; what changes the count is whether Queensland's law adds a weekday for it or puts one in its place. In Queensland in 2026:
- ANZAC Day falls on Saturday, April 25. Queensland keeps the date and grants no weekday for it, so it removes no working day from 2026.
- Boxing Day falls on Saturday, December 26 and stays a public holiday; Monday, December 28 is added on top, so the weekend date takes no working day and the weekday does.
Only the weekday entries change the count; a public holiday on a Saturday or Sunday takes no working day from it.

The longest unbroken stretch of 2026
The longest run of working days with no weekday holiday inside it depends on how far apart consecutive closures sit, so it moves whenever one fixed-date holiday changes weekday. In 2026 it runs from Tuesday, May 5 to Friday, October 2, straddling the middle of the year: 109 working days, 21 full working weeks and four days.
The first working day of 2026 on this count is Friday, January 2, after New Year's Day. The last is Thursday, December 31, which is the latest date a count of working days can end on inside 2026.
Which calendar the 2026 count uses
The count uses the public holidays Queensland's own Act declares for the whole state, including any weekday the Act adds or substitutes for a weekend holiday. Show holidays are appointed district by district under section 4 of the Holidays Act 1983, so the Royal Queensland Show holiday, for the Brisbane area only, is not counted. Nor is the part-day public holiday on 24 December from 6 pm to midnight, which section 2(4) applies only for working out a person's entitlements under the laws it names.
