public holidays in October 2026
No Saudi public holidays fall on a weekday in October 2026, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.
Saudi Arabia October deadlines
No Saudi holiday falls in October in any year of this calculator's data. A VAT return for a tax period that ended in September is filed, and the tax paid, by the last day of October, the date for a monthly filer's September and for a three-month period that closed with it. The Zakat and income-tax returns are annual: each is due within 120 days of the end of the fiscal year. ZATCA's 2026 calendar gives October 10 as the last date to submit and pay withholding tax for September, and October 31 for the monthly VAT return for September and the quarterly return for the third quarter. October 10 and October 31, 2026 are both Saturdays.

Those dates in 2026
None of the dates named above falls on a working day in 2026 under the Saudi public calendar. A fixed calendar date advances by one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, so which side of the working week it lands on changes on a four-year cycle rather than staying put.

Saudi Arabia reporting cycles and business-day rules
A VAT return is filed, and the tax paid, by the last day of the month after each tax period, and ZATCA's Implementing Regulations of the VAT Law keep that date whether or not it is a working day; a Working Day, as they define it, is any day except Friday, Saturday and a state holiday. The period is monthly for a taxpayer whose taxable supplies exceeded SAR 40 million in the previous twelve months; three months is the standard period for all others, who may apply for a monthly one. A Zakat payer that keeps accounting books submits the Zakat return, and pays the Zakat, within 120 days of the end of the Zakat year, and a period that ends on an official holiday runs to the first working day after it (Implementing Regulations for Zakat Collection, article 102). The income-tax return is due within 120 days of the end of the tax year under article 60 of the Income Tax Law, as ZATCA quotes it. The royal order of 23 June 2013 made Friday and Saturday the weekly holiday in all ministries, government bodies and institutions, financial institutions, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the Capital Market Authority and the Saudi Stock Exchange.

October 2026 working days compared by country
Working-day counts vary across countries because each country observes its own public holidays. The table below shows October 2026 under 11 of the site's 25 holiday calendars; the summary above gives Saudi Arabia's own count.

How October 2026 compares year over year
October 2025 had 22 working days, so October 2026 has 1 fewer working day year over year. On the surrounding months, September 2026 has 21 working days and November 2026 has 21. Looking forward, October 2027 has 21 working days under the same Saudi public holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Saudi Arabia
Count the 21 business days of October 2026 on the Sunday-to-Thursday week. A royal order of 23 June 2013, as the Saudi Press Agency reported it, made those the official working days in all ministries, government bodies and institutions, financial institutions, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the Capital Market Authority and the Saudi Stock Exchange. Tax dates are not counted in business days: a VAT return is filed, and the tax paid, by the last day of the month after the tax period, whether or not that date is a working day, while the 120 days for the Zakat return, if they end on an official holiday, run on to the first working day after it.

How October 2026 is shaped
The headline count answers how many working days October 2026 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Saudi public holiday calendar and a working week that treats Friday and Saturday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
A 31-day month opening the final quarter
October runs 31 days and opens Q4, the last quarter of the calendar year, so everything deferred earlier arrives inside a period that begins here. It shares its weekday alignment with January in a common year. As a 31-day month it carries three weekdays five times, and which three is decided entirely by the day it opens on.
In October 2026 that comes to 21 working days across 31 calendar days, against 21 in September 2026 and 22 in November 2026.
The month opens on the last day of a working week
October 2026 starts on the final working day of a week. One working day stands between the 1st and the weekend, so the month's real momentum does not begin until the following week. This is the start that most compresses a monthly plan: the calendar has turned, but only one working day has passed before the first closure.
The month's first working day is Thursday, October 1, and October 2026 carries 21 working days in total.
Five working stretches
October splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of October 2026 arrive in stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from October 4 to October 8. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is back-loaded. It opens with one consecutive day and closes with five, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.
Three weekdays occur five times
A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In October 2026 the three are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.
Only Thursday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Friday and Saturday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
A month with no closures
There is no Saudi public holiday in October 2026 at all. Because a month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, the count follows directly from the calendar: 31 days, 10 of them on the Friday and Saturday weekend, leaving 21 working days.
That makes October an unusually predictable month to plan against. Its working structure will be the same shape in any year that opens on the same weekday, and no holiday date can move it.
The closures on either side of the month
Nothing closes inside October 2026 under the Saudi public calendar, so the useful question is what sits on either side of it. Adjacent closures matter to a monthly plan because deadlines that fall near a month boundary are usually satisfied on the other side of it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Saudi National Day on September 23, 2026, 8 calendar days before October began and the next is Founding Day on February 22, 2027, 114 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2026 the Saudi public calendar puts seven closures on working days, of which none falls in October. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends over a weekend
October 2026 ends on a Saturday, which this calendar treats as weekend. Month-end processing cannot happen on the last calendar day, so it happens earlier and the last few dates of the month carry no settlement at all. The distance between the final working day and the final calendar day is where month-end reconciliations go missing.
The last working day of October 2026 is Thursday, October 29. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Tuesday, October 27, four calendar days before the month closes.
The working month ends on the last working day of a week, so the final stretch is a complete one and nothing is left hanging mid-week. Two calendar days of October follow it with nothing settling on them.
The quarter opens here
October is the first month of Q4. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.
Across the whole quarter there are 66 working days, of which 21 fall in October. The other two months carry November 2026 with 22 and December 2026 with 23. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit October.
The week's first working day is the scarcest
The first working day of the week is the one October gives least often. Anything anchored to the start of the working week (a weekly kickoff, a Monday-morning cutoff, a start-of-week batch) fires fewer times this month than the calendar count suggests, because a closure has taken one of them out.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, October 2026 gives Sunday 4, Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, and Thursday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the short end of the year
October sits among the shorter working months of 2026 under the Saudi public calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.
2026 carries 254 working days in total under the Saudi public calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2026 with 23 and the shortest is May 2026 with 18, a spread of 5. October ranks 10th of the twelve with 21.
Saudi Arabia closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Saudi Arabia is placed as follows.
Across 2026 the Saudi public closures fall 3 in Q1, 3 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 0 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Friday and Saturday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2026 calendar sits between May 28, 2026 and September 23, 2026, 118 calendar days with no Saudi public closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
After the year's last closure
October 2026 falls after the last Saudi public closure of the year, so nothing further in 2026 reduces a working-day count. Where a deadline runs from this month into the next year, the closures that can move it all belong to the following year's calendar rather than this one.
2026 opens its Saudi public closures with Founding Day on February 22, 2026 and ends them with Saudi National Day on September 23, 2026. The densest month of the year is May 2026 with three closures on working days.
One working day fewer than last year
October 2026 has one working day fewer than October 2025: 21 against 22. On a monthly target that is roughly 5% less working time for the same calendar period, which is the size of gap that shows up as an unexplained miss rather than as a known constraint.
October opens 2025 on a Wednesday, 2026 on a Thursday, and 2027 on a Friday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, October 2027 carries 21 working days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in October 2026 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Saudi public calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Saudi public calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| October 1 | Thursday | Working day | October 1 |
| October 5 | Monday | Working day | October 5 |
| October 10 | Saturday | Weekend | October 11, 2026 |
| October 15 | Thursday | Working day | October 15 |
| October 20 | Tuesday | Working day | October 20 |
| October 25 | Sunday | Working day | October 25 |
| October 31 | Saturday | Weekend | November 1, 2026 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in October 2026
An invoice dated the 1st of October on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on October 31, 2026, which is not a working day under the Saudi public calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated October 1 | October 31, 2026 (rolls to November 1, 2026) | November 30, 2026 |
| Dated October 15 | November 14, 2026 (rolls to November 15, 2026) | December 14, 2026 |
| Dated October 31 | November 30, 2026 | December 30, 2026 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Saudi Arabia calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
