Spain October deadlines
Modelo 303 and Modelo 130 for Q3 both close in the first twenty calendar days of October, on the same window as the first two quarters. The AEAT's own 2026 calendar puts both on October 20. The Fiesta Nacional de España on October 12 is one of the four national days Article 37.2 of the Estatuto de los Trabajadores fixes by name, so no Comunidad Autónoma may substitute it. Monthly IVA filers settle September in the first thirty days.

Those dates in 2027
One of the dates named above does not fall on a working day in 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar. A fixed calendar date advances through the week year by year, so this resolution holds for 2027 only.

Spain reporting cycles and business-day rules
Each provision cited here sets a filing window, not a single date. Article 71.4 of the Reglamento del IVA puts the quarterly VAT return (Modelo 303) in the first twenty días naturales (calendar days) of the month after the quarter, the return for the last period of the year in the first thirty of January, and a monthly return in the first thirty of the following month, or by the last day of February for January. Article 111.1 of the Reglamento del IRPF puts the pagos fraccionados (Modelos 130 and 131) between the 1st and the 20th of April, July and October, and the fourth quarter's between the 1st and the 30th of January. Under Article 108.1, withholdings (Modelo 111 among the returns) are declared in the first twenty días naturales of April, July, October and January, and in the first twenty of every month where numbers 1 and 2 of Article 71.3 of the Reglamento del IVA apply or where, for the income the article names, the withholder is a public administration whose last approved annual budget exceeds 6 million euros. Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014 puts the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in the 25 días naturales that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. The AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369; the AEAT page on the Modelo 303 filing period adds that Saturday is inhábil and that a last filing day which is inhábil moves to the next día hábil.

How October 2027 compares year over year
October 2026 had 21 días laborables, so October 2027 has 1 fewer working day year over year. On the surrounding months, September 2027 has 22 días laborables and November 2027 has 21. Looking forward, October 2028 has 21 días laborables under the same Spain-wide holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Spain
The 20 business days of October 2027 are its Monday-to-Friday days less the days of the calculator's Spain set, the days that are a holiday in all seventeen comunidades autónomas, in Ceuta and in Melilla; a holiday missing from any of those territories is not in the set. The count measures the days the month offers for preparing a return, not where a filing window ends: Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014, for one, sets the window for the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in días naturales (calendar days), the 25 that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. A window's end can also move: the AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369, whose filing period does not move.

How October 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many días laborables October 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Spain-wide holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
A 31-day month opening the final quarter
October runs 31 days and opens Q4, the last quarter of the calendar year, so everything deferred earlier arrives inside a period that begins here. It shares its weekday alignment with January in a common year. As a 31-day month it carries three weekdays five times, and which three is decided entirely by the day it opens on.
In October 2027 that comes to 20 días laborables across 31 calendar days, against 22 in September 2027 and 21 in November 2027.
The month opens on the last day of a working week
October 2027 starts on the final working day of a week. One working day stands between the 1st and the weekend, so the month's real momentum does not begin until the following week. This is the start that most compresses a monthly plan: the calendar has turned, but only one working day has passed before the first closure.
The month's first working day is Friday, October 1, and October 2027 carries 20 días laborables in total.
One working day stands alone
One working day in October 2027 is walled in on both sides. Monday, October 11 sits between the sábado and domingo weekend and Fiesta Nacional de España, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.
The working days of October 2027 arrive in stretches of 1, 5, 1, 3, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from October 4 to October 8. A task needing more consecutive días laborables than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is back-loaded. It opens with one consecutive day and closes with five, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.
Three weekdays occur five times
A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In October 2027 the three are Sunday, Friday, and Saturday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.
Only Friday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the sábado and domingo weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
One closure, and where it lands
October 2027 carries a single Spain-wide closure on a working day: Fiesta Nacional de España on Tuesday, October 12. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.
Placed where it is, the closure also strands a working day: the run structure above shows a stretch of exactly one. That is the expensive shape for a single holiday, because it removes a day and devalues another.
seven working days pass before the closure and 13 follow it, which puts the break just short of the month's midpoint. A closure near the middle divides the month into two usable halves rather than trimming one end of it.
The closures around this month
October 2027 carries one Spain-wide closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Viernes Santo on March 26, 2027, 189 calendar days before October began and the next is Día de Todos los Santos on November 1, 2027, 1 calendar day after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Spain-wide calendar puts seven closures on working days, of which one falls in October. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends over a weekend
October 2027 ends on a Sunday, which this calendar treats as weekend. Month-end processing cannot happen on the last calendar day, so it happens earlier and the last few dates of the month carry no settlement at all. The distance between the final working day and the final calendar day is where month-end reconciliations go missing.
The last working day of October 2027 is Friday, October 29. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, October 27, four calendar days before the month closes.
The working month ends on the last working day of a week, so the final stretch is a complete one and nothing is left hanging mid-week. Two calendar days of October follow it with nothing settling on them.
The quarter opens here
October is the first month of Q4. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.
Across the whole quarter there are 62 días laborables, of which 20 fall in October. The other two months carry November 2027 with 21 and December 2027 with 21. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit October.
The week's second working day is the scarcest
The second working day of the week is the one October gives least often. Weekly cycles that run one day behind the start of the week, which is where most reporting handovers sit, lose an occurrence relative to the rest.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, October 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the short end of the year
October sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.
2027 carries 254 días laborables in total under the Spain-wide calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is January 2027 with 19, a spread of 3. October ranks 11th of the twelve with 20.
Spain closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Spain is placed as follows.
Across 2027 the Spain-wide closures fall 3 in Q1, 0 in Q2, 0 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between March 26, 2027 and October 12, 2027, 200 calendar days with no Spain-wide closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Spain-wide calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Spain-wide closures with Año Nuevo on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Inmaculada Concepción on December 8, 2027. The densest month of the year is January 2027 with two closures on working days.
One working day fewer than last year
October 2027 has one días laborable fewer than October 2026: 20 against 21. On a monthly target that is roughly 5% less working time for the same calendar period, which is the size of gap that shows up as an unexplained miss rather than as a known constraint.
October opens 2026 on a Thursday, 2027 on a Friday, and 2028 on a Sunday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, October 2028 carries 21 días laborables.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in October 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Spain-wide calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Spain-wide calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| October 1 | Friday | Working day | October 1 |
| October 5 | Tuesday | Working day | October 5 |
| October 10 | Sunday | Weekend | October 11, 2027 |
| October 15 | Friday | Working day | October 15 |
| October 20 | Wednesday | Working day | October 20 |
| October 25 | Monday | Working day | October 25 |
| October 31 | Sunday | Weekend | November 2, 2027 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in October 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of October on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on October 31, 2027, which is not a working day under the Spain-wide calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated October 1 | October 31, 2027 (rolls to November 2, 2027) | November 30, 2027 |
| Dated October 15 | November 14, 2027 (rolls to November 15, 2027) | December 14, 2027 |
| Dated October 31 | November 30, 2027 | December 30, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Spain calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
