Singapore October deadlines

CPF contributions for September are due on its last day, with enforcement against an employer that has not paid them by October 14, or the next working day when the 14th is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday. A GST-registered business whose accounting quarter ends in September files and pays GST by October 31. Deepavali changes date each year. The Ministry of Manpower lists Deepavali on Thursday 28 October 2027.

Those dates in 2027

One of the dates named above does not fall on a working day in 2027 under the Singapore calendar. A fixed calendar date advances through the week year by year, so this resolution holds for 2027 only.

Singapore reporting cycles and business-day rules

This calculator counts Monday to Friday and leaves out the 11 public holidays the Ministry of Manpower lists. When one falls on a Sunday, section 4(2) of the Holidays Act 1998 makes the next day that is not itself a public holiday a public holiday too, and the calculator leaves that day out as well. A holiday on a Saturday adds no public holiday under the Act, although MOM says an employee whose Saturday is a non-working day should get either a day off or salary in lieu; the calculator adds no day for it. The CPF Board's enforcement date, the 14th of the month after contributions fall due, moves to the next working day when it is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday.

October 2027 working days compared by country

Working-day counts vary across countries because each country observes its own public holidays. The table below shows October 2027 under 11 of the site's 25 holiday calendars; the summary above gives Singapore's own count.

How October 2027 compares year over year

October 2026 had 22 working days, so October 2027 has 2 fewer working days year over year. On the surrounding months, September 2027 has 22 working days and November 2027 has 22. Looking forward, October 2028 has 21 working days under the same Singapore holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Singapore

Count the 20 business days of October 2027 when a CPF or IRAS date is near. CPF contributions for a month are due on its last day, and the CPF Board takes enforcement action against an employer that has not paid them by the 14th of the following month, or by the next working day when the 14th is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday. A GST return and its payment are due one month after the end of the accounting period, and a company files its estimated chargeable income within three months of its financial year end, unless one of IRAS's exceptions applies.

How October 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many working days October 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Singapore holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

A 31-day month opening the final quarter

October runs 31 days and opens Q4, the last quarter of the calendar year, so everything deferred earlier arrives inside a period that begins here. It shares its weekday alignment with January in a common year. As a 31-day month it carries three weekdays five times, and which three is decided entirely by the day it opens on.

In October 2027 that comes to 20 working days across 31 calendar days, against 22 in September 2027 and 22 in November 2027.

The month opens on the last day of a working week

October 2027 starts on the final working day of a week. One working day stands between the 1st and the weekend, so the month's real momentum does not begin until the following week. This is the start that most compresses a monthly plan: the calendar has turned, but only one working day has passed before the first closure.

The month's first working day is Friday, October 1, and October 2027 carries 20 working days in total.

One working day stands alone

One working day in October 2027 is walled in on both sides. Friday, October 29 sits between Deepavali and the Saturday and Sunday weekend, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.

The working days of October 2027 arrive in stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, 3, and 1 day. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from October 4 to October 8. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is balanced end to end. Its opening and closing stretches are the same length, one day each, so work pushed from the start of October to its end finds the same amount of room it left behind. That symmetry is the exception rather than the rule.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In October 2027 the three are Sunday, Friday, and Saturday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

Only Friday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.

One closure, and where it lands

October 2027 carries a single Singapore closure on a working day: Deepavali on Thursday, October 28. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.

Placed where it is, the closure also strands a working day: the run structure above shows a stretch of exactly one. That is the expensive shape for a single holiday, because it removes a day and devalues another.

19 working days pass before the closure and only 1 follow it. With the break past the midpoint, most of the month's capacity has already been spent when it arrives, so anything the closure displaces competes for a shrinking remainder.

The closures around this month

October 2027 carries one Singapore closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was National Day on August 9, 2027, 53 calendar days before October began and the next is Chinese New Year Day 1 (approximate) on January 26, 2028, 87 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Singapore calendar puts eight closures on working days, of which one falls in October. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

The month ends over a weekend

October 2027 ends on a Sunday, which this calendar treats as weekend. Month-end processing cannot happen on the last calendar day, so it happens earlier and the last few dates of the month carry no settlement at all. The distance between the final working day and the final calendar day is where month-end reconciliations go missing.

The last working day of October 2027 is Friday, October 29. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Tuesday, October 26, five calendar days before the month closes.

The working month ends on the last working day of a week, so the final stretch is a complete one and nothing is left hanging mid-week. Two calendar days of October follow it with nothing settling on them.

The quarter opens here

October is the first month of Q4. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.

Across the whole quarter there are 65 working days, of which 20 fall in October. The other two months carry November 2027 with 22 and December 2027 with 23. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit October.

The week's fourth working day is the scarcest

The fourth working day of the week is the one October gives least often. It is the position that carries most pre-weekend handover work, so an occurrence lost here tends to push into the following week rather than into the next day.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, October 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 3, and Friday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the short end of the year

October sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the Singapore calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.

2027 carries 253 working days in total under the Singapore calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2027 with 23 and the shortest is May 2027 with 19, a spread of 4. October ranks 10th of the twelve with 20.

Singapore closures across the year

A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Singapore is placed as follows.

Across 2027 the Singapore closures fall 4 in Q1, 2 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 1 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Saturday and Sunday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 20, 2027 and August 9, 2027, 81 calendar days with no Singapore closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Singapore calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Singapore closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Deepavali on October 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is March 2027 with two closures on working days.

A materially shorter month than last year

October 2027 carries 2 fewer working days than October 2026 did (20 against 22). Two or more days is a large swing between adjacent years and it takes both causes acting together: the weekday alignment moving and a closure changing which side of a weekend it falls on.

October opens 2026 on a Thursday, 2027 on a Friday, and 2028 on a Sunday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, October 2028 carries 21 working days.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in October 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Singapore calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

DateWeekdayStatus under the Singapore calendarFirst working day on or after

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in October 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of October on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on October 31, 2027, which is not a working day under the Singapore calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Singapore calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in October 2027 under the Singapore holiday calendar?
October 2027 has 20 working days under the Singapore holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 10 fall on a weekend and 1 is a Singapore holiday that lands on a weekday. The remaining 20 weekdays are countable as working days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Singapore holidays affect October 2027?
October 2027 contains one Singapore holiday: Deepavali on Thursday, October 28. The calculator skips it. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
What happens when a Singapore public holiday falls on a weekend?
Section 4(2) of the Holidays Act 1998: if a day specified in the Schedule falls on a Sunday, the day next following that is not itself a public holiday is declared a public holiday. The Sunday stays a public holiday under section 4(1). This site's data lists the added day in place of the Sunday, which is not a business day either way, and the calculator leaves the added day out. The Act adds nothing for a holiday on a Saturday, though MOM says an employee whose Saturday is a non-working day should get a day off or salary in lieu; the calculator keeps a Saturday holiday on its date. When two public holidays fall on the same day, section 5(2) of the Holidays Act lets the President declare an additional public holiday, on any day of that year, by notification in the Gazette; it is not automatic, and this site's data lists no such day. The Ministry of Manpower lists 11 gazetted public holidays: New Year's Day, Chinese New Year (2 days), Good Friday, Hari Raya Puasa, Labour Day, Vesak Day, Hari Raya Haji, National Day, Deepavali and Christmas Day.
Why does the Chinese New Year date shift each year?
The Schedule to the Holidays Act 1998 names the days, Chinese New Year (2 days) among them, and gives no dates. MOM publishes the dates for public holidays one year in advance, by the third quarter of the year before. In this site's data, Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Hari Raya Puasa, Vesak Day, Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali fall on a different date in every year it covers. For a year MOM has not yet published, the data holds calculated dates for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Vesak Day, Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali and marks each one (approximate); where this site has no date for one of those days, the data has no row for it. Check MOM's list once it is out before relying on one of those dates for a deadline.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Singapore. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Singapore holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. October 2026 had 22 working days, so October 2027 has 2 fewer working days year over year.
When is the last working day of October 2027?
The last working day of October 2027 under the Singapore calendar is Friday, October 29. The month's last calendar day is Sunday, October 31, which is not a working day, so month-end processing has to happen two calendar days earlier than the calendar suggests. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Tuesday, October 26.
How many working days in a row does October 2027 offer?
October 2027 has 20 working days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in six stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, 3, and 1 day, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from October 4 to October 8. One working day in the month stands alone with a closure on either side.
