Genève Business Day Calculator

Last reviewed: May 19, 2026 · Holiday data: June 24, 2026

Calculate business days in Genève with its own cantonal public holidays. Genève shares the Monday to Friday working week and the Saturday and Sunday weekend with the rest of Switzerland, but its holiday calendar is different, so due dates and deadlines can land differently from the national count.

How Genève differs from the national Swiss holidays

Geneva keeps the national Swiss public holidays and adds two civic days of its own: the Jeûne genevois, the Thursday after the first Sunday of September, and the Restauration de la République on 31 December. It does not observe Saint-Étienne (26 December): the official Geneva list ends at 25 December plus 31 December, and 26 December stands in only when Christmas falls on a Sunday, which is not the case in 2026 or 2027. Easter Monday and Whit Monday are both kept. The working week is Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Sunday weekend.

Worked example

Adding 1 business days to Wednesday, September 9, 2026 using Genève's holidays lands on Friday, September 11, 2026. With the national Swiss holidays, the same calculation lands on Thursday, September 10, 2026: the gap comes from Genève's own calendar.
