Spain April deadlines
April opens the first ordinary quarter of the Spanish tax year, and both quarterly self-assessments share one window. Article 71.4 of the Reglamento del IVA and Article 111.1 of the Reglamento del IRPF each give the first twenty calendar days of the month following the quarter, so Modelo 303 and Modelo 130 for Q1 close together on April 20, not at the end of the month. The Renta campaign opens for online filing during April. Viernes Santo closes the exchanges.

Those dates in 2027
Every date named above falls on a working day in 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar. That is worth checking rather than assuming: the same calendar date moves through the week from year to year, so a date that settles cleanly this year may not next year.

Spain reporting cycles and business-day rules
Each provision cited here sets a filing window, not a single date. Article 71.4 of the Reglamento del IVA puts the quarterly VAT return (Modelo 303) in the first twenty días naturales (calendar days) of the month after the quarter, the return for the last period of the year in the first thirty of January, and a monthly return in the first thirty of the following month, or by the last day of February for January. Article 111.1 of the Reglamento del IRPF puts the pagos fraccionados (Modelos 130 and 131) between the 1st and the 20th of April, July and October, and the fourth quarter's between the 1st and the 30th of January. Under Article 108.1, withholdings (Modelo 111 among the returns) are declared in the first twenty días naturales of April, July, October and January, and in the first twenty of every month where numbers 1 and 2 of Article 71.3 of the Reglamento del IVA apply or where, for the income the article names, the withholder is a public administration whose last approved annual budget exceeds 6 million euros. Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014 puts the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in the 25 días naturales that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. The AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369; the AEAT page on the Modelo 303 filing period adds that Saturday is inhábil and that a last filing day which is inhábil moves to the next día hábil.

How April 2027 compares year over year
April 2026 had 21 días laborables, so April 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, March 2027 has 22 días laborables and May 2027 has 21. Looking forward, April 2028 has 19 días laborables under the same Spain-wide holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Spain
The 22 business days of April 2027 are its Monday-to-Friday days less the days of the calculator's Spain set, the days that are a holiday in all seventeen comunidades autónomas, in Ceuta and in Melilla; a holiday missing from any of those territories is not in the set. The count measures the days the month offers for preparing a return, not where a filing window ends: Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014, for one, sets the window for the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in días naturales (calendar days), the 25 that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. A window's end can also move: the AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369, whose filing period does not move.

How April 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many días laborables April 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Spain-wide holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
A 30-day month opening the second quarter
April runs 30 days and opens Q2. It shares its weekday alignment with July in every year, so the two months have the same internal shape before holidays are applied, and any difference between their working-day counts comes entirely from closures rather than from the calendar. April is also one of the four months that begin a quarter, which puts its first working day at the head of a reporting period.
In April 2027 that comes to 22 días laborables across 30 calendar days, against 22 in March 2027 and 21 in May 2027.
A late-week start
The month opens on the fourth working day of the week, which leaves only a short tail before the first weekend. The practical consequence is that the month's first genuinely full working week does not begin on the 1st at all. Anything scoped as "we have the first week to do this" has materially less time than the phrase suggests, and the shortfall is visible in the opening run below.
The opening stretch runs from Thursday, April 1 to April 2, two días laborables before the first break. April 2027 carries 22 días laborables in total, so that opening block is 9% of the month's working capacity.
Five working stretches
April splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of April 2027 arrive in stretches of 2, 5, 5, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from April 5 to April 9. A task needing more consecutive días laborables than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is back-loaded. It opens with two consecutive days and closes with five, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.
Two weekdays occur five times
Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Thursday and Friday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.
All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Thursday and Friday each occur 5 times. Had the surplus fallen on the weekend instead, the same month would carry 20 días laborables rather than 22.
A month with no closures, and a long one
April 2027 contains no Spain-wide holiday on any date, working or otherwise. A month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, so its count is set entirely by the weekday it opens on and its length, and here both work in the month's favour: 22 días laborables across 30 calendar days.
Months at this end of the range are the ones worth reserving for work that needs consecutive days rather than cumulative days. The constraint that usually breaks a long run, a closure landing mid-week, is absent, so the month's structure is entirely weekend-driven and repeats on a seven-day cycle.
A closure sits just outside the month
April 2027 contains no Spain-wide closure of its own, but one sits within a week of its edge. A closure just outside a month still reaches into it: work displaced from the closed day lands on the working days beside it, and those are inside April whichever side the holiday falls on.
Looking outside the month, the last was Viernes Santo on March 26, 2027, 6 calendar days before April began and the next is Fiesta Nacional de España on October 12, 2027, 165 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Spain-wide calendar puts seven closures on working days, of which none falls in April. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The working month and the calendar month end together
The month's last calendar day is also the last working day of a week. Month-end and week-end fall on the same date in April 2027, which is the one alignment where a weekly close and a monthly close cannot be separated. Everything queued for both runs on the same day, and there is no working day left in April to absorb a slip.
The last working day of April 2027 is Friday, April 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, April 28, two calendar days before the month closes.
The quarter opens here
April is the first month of Q2. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.
Across the whole quarter there are 65 días laborables, of which 22 fall in April. The other two months carry May 2027 with 21 and June 2027 with 22. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of April lands in a month with less room than this one had.
The week's first working day is the scarcest
The first working day of the week is the one April gives least often. Anything anchored to the start of the working week (a weekly kickoff, a Monday-morning cutoff, a start-of-week batch) fires fewer times this month than the calendar count suggests, because a closure has taken one of them out.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, April 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, and Friday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the long end of the year
April sits among the longer working months of 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar. Where a month falls in that ranking is decided by two independent things, its calendar length and how many closures land on its working days, so a month can move several places between adjacent years without its length changing at all.
2027 carries 254 días laborables in total under the Spain-wide calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is January 2027 with 19, a spread of 3. April ranks 2nd of the twelve with 22.
Inside the year's longest clear run
April 2027 sits inside the longest stretch of 2027 with no Spain-wide closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.
Across 2027 the Spain-wide closures fall 3 in Q1, 0 in Q2, 0 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between March 26, 2027 and October 12, 2027, 200 calendar days with no Spain-wide closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Spain-wide calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Spain-wide closures with Año Nuevo on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Inmaculada Concepción on December 8, 2027. The densest month of the year is January 2027 with two closures on working days.
One working day more than last year
There is one more días laborable in April 2027 than in April 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.
April opens 2026 on a Wednesday, 2027 on a Thursday, and 2028 on a Saturday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, April 2028 carries 19 días laborables.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in April 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Spain-wide calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Spain-wide calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 1 | Thursday | Working day | April 1 |
| April 5 | Monday | Working day | April 5 |
| April 10 | Saturday | Weekend | April 12, 2027 |
| April 15 | Thursday | Working day | April 15 |
| April 20 | Tuesday | Working day | April 20 |
| April 25 | Sunday | Weekend | April 26, 2027 |
| April 30 | Friday | Working day | April 30 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in April 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of April on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on May 1, 2027, which is not a working day under the Spain-wide calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated April 1 | May 1, 2027 (rolls to May 3, 2027) | May 31, 2027 |
| Dated April 15 | May 15, 2027 (rolls to May 17, 2027) | June 14, 2027 |
| Dated April 30 | May 30, 2027 (rolls to May 31, 2027) | June 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Spain calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
