Business Days in July 2027 for Canada
July 2027 has 21 business days under the Canadian federal holiday calendar. July 2027 contains one Canadian federal holiday on a weekday. The month covers 31 calendar days, of which 9 are Saturday and Sunday. That count drives invoice cycles, payroll runs, and any contract that defines deadlines as a number of business days in Canada.

Canada July deadlines
Canada Day is the only one of the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists to fall in July. Section 2 of the Holidays Act puts it on July 1, or on July 2 when July 1 is a Sunday. When July 1 is a non-working Saturday, section 193(2) of the Code gives the holiday with pay on the working day immediately preceding or following it; this site's data lists the following Monday, which is this site's choice and not the Code's. The Bank of Canada's schedule for 2027 puts an interest rate announcement and Monetary Policy Report on 21 July.

Those dates in 2027
One of the dates named above does not fall on a working day in 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. A fixed calendar date advances through the week year by year, so this resolution holds for 2027 only.

Canada reporting cycles and business-day rules
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a remitter type sets how often payroll deductions are remitted and affects the due dates. A regular remitter's due date is the 15th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 1 remitter remits up to twice a month: for the 1st to the 15th by the 25th day of the same month, and for the 16th to the end of the month by the 10th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 2 remitter remits up to four times a month, by the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. A quarterly remitter's due dates are April 15, July 15, October 15 and January 15. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the payment is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is processed at a Canadian financial institution, on or before the next business day. The Toronto Stock Exchange publishes its own list of market closures. Its lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday, which are not among the ten general holidays of section 166 of the Canada Labour Code, and do not list Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are.

How July 2027 compares year over year
July 2026 had 22 business days, so July 2027 has 1 fewer working day year over year. On the surrounding months, June 2027 has 22 business days and August 2027 has 22. Looking forward, July 2028 has 20 business days under the same Canadian federal holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Canada
The 21-day count for July 2027 is Monday to Friday less the weekday dates this site's data lists for the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) states an accelerated Threshold 2 remitter's payroll remittance due dates in working days: the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. For its due dates the CRA recognizes its own list of public holidays. The CRA's list of public holidays includes Easter Monday and a Civic Holiday, neither of which is among the Code's ten general holidays, so this calculator's federal list is not the CRA's list.

How July 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many business days July 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Canadian federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
A 31-day month opening the second half of the year
July runs 31 days and opens both Q3 and the second half of the calendar year. It shares its weekday alignment with April, so their internal structures match and any gap between their working-day counts is a holiday effect rather than a calendar one. Of the four quarter-opening months, July is the one most likely to sit inside a period of reduced staffing, which changes what its count means in practice even though the count itself is fixed by the calendar.
In July 2027 that comes to 21 business days across 31 calendar days, against 22 in June 2027 and 22 in August 2027.
The month opens on a closure
July 2027 begins on a public holiday. Canada Day falls on the 1st, which is a Thursday this year, so the calendar month and the working month start on different dates. Any obligation written as "the first of the month" and any obligation written as "the first business day" point at different days in July 2027, and a schedule that treats them as interchangeable is wrong by at least one day here.
The month's first working day is Friday, July 2, and July 2027 carries 21 business days in total.
One working day stands alone
One working day in July 2027 is walled in on both sides. Friday, July 2 sits between Canada Day and the Saturday and Sunday weekend, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.
The working days of July 2027 arrive in stretches of 1, 5, 5, 5, and 5 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from July 5 to July 9. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is back-loaded. It opens with one consecutive day and closes with five, so the room is at the end rather than the start. That is the safer of the two imbalances, because a slip has somewhere to go, but it also makes the opening week a poor sample of the month.
Three weekdays occur five times
A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In July 2027 the three are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.
Only Thursday and Friday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
One closure, and where it lands
July 2027 carries a single Canadian federal closure on a working day: Canada Day on Thursday, July 1. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.
Placed where it is, the closure also strands a working day: the run structure above shows a stretch of exactly one. That is the expensive shape for a single holiday, because it removes a day and devalues another.
The closure arrives before any working day has passed, so July is interrupted before it has started and the whole of its 21 remaining business days sit after the break.
The closures around this month
July 2027 carries one Canadian federal closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Victoria Day on May 24, 2027, 38 calendar days before July began and the next is Labour Day on September 6, 2027, 37 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Canadian federal calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which one falls in July. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends over a weekend
July 2027 ends on a Saturday, which this calendar treats as weekend. Month-end processing cannot happen on the last calendar day, so it happens earlier and the last few dates of the month carry no settlement at all. The distance between the final working day and the final calendar day is where month-end reconciliations go missing.
The last working day of July 2027 is Friday, July 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, July 28, three calendar days before the month closes.
The working month ends on the last working day of a week, so the final stretch is a complete one and nothing is left hanging mid-week. One calendar day of July follows it with nothing settling on it.
The quarter opens here
July is the first month of Q3. An opening month sets the baseline the rest of the quarter is measured against, and it is the one month where a slip has two further months to be absorbed in. Quarterly targets divided evenly by three ignore the fact that the three months rarely carry equal working-day counts.
Across the whole quarter there are 63 business days, of which 21 fall in July. The other two months carry August 2027 with 22 and September 2027 with 20. It sits between the other two, which makes it the month where a quarterly plan is least likely to be thrown off by the calendar alone.
The week's first working day is the scarcest
The first working day of the week is the one July gives least often. Anything anchored to the start of the working week (a weekly kickoff, a Monday-morning cutoff, a start-of-week batch) fires fewer times this month than the calendar count suggests, because a closure has taken one of them out.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, July 2027 gives Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 5. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Where the month sits in the year
July sits in the middle of 2027 by working-day count under the Canadian federal calendar. The middle of that ranking is where a month's total is least informative on its own, because a mid-ranked month can be a long month carrying closures or a short one carrying none, and the two need different plans.
2027 carries 251 business days in total under the Canadian federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is October 2027 with 20, a spread of 2. July ranks 5th of the twelve with 21.
Canada closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Canada is placed as follows.
Across 2027 the Canadian federal closures fall 2 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the Canadian federal data for 2027 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between January 1, 2027 and March 26, 2027, 84 calendar days with no Canadian federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Canadian federal calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Canadian federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is September 2027 with two closures on working days.
One working day fewer than last year
July 2027 has one business day fewer than July 2026: 21 against 22. On a monthly target that is roughly 5% less working time for the same calendar period, which is the size of gap that shows up as an unexplained miss rather than as a known constraint.
July opens 2026 on a Wednesday, 2027 on a Thursday, and 2028 on a Saturday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, July 2028 carries 20 business days.
Anchor dates that do not fall on working days
Four of the common monthly anchor dates in July 2027 land on a day this calendar does not work. A month with this many blocked anchors pushes several cycles onto the same few dates, because each of them resolves forward to the next available working day and those tend to be shared.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Canadian federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| July 1 | Thursday | Closed: Canada Day | July 2, 2027 |
| July 5 | Monday | Working day | July 5 |
| July 10 | Saturday | Weekend | July 12, 2027 |
| July 15 | Thursday | Working day | July 15 |
| July 20 | Tuesday | Working day | July 20 |
| July 25 | Sunday | Weekend | July 26, 2027 |
| July 31 | Saturday | Weekend | August 2, 2027 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in July 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of July on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on July 31, 2027, which is not a working day under the Canadian federal calendar. A term counted in calendar days can land anywhere in the week, and roughly two days in seven it lands somewhere nothing settles, which is the ordinary reason a payment shows as late by a day or two without anyone being late.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated July 1 | July 31, 2027 (rolls to August 2, 2027) | August 30, 2027 |
| Dated July 15 | August 14, 2027 (rolls to August 16, 2027) | September 13, 2027 |
| Dated July 31 | August 30, 2027 | September 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Canada calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
