Business Days in August 2027 for Canada

August 2027 has 22 business days under the Canadian federal holiday calendar. August 2027 contains no Canadian federal holidays on a weekday. The month covers 31 calendar days, of which 9 are Saturday and Sunday. That count drives invoice cycles, payroll runs, and any contract that defines deadlines as a number of business days in Canada.

statutory holidays in August 2027

No Canadian federal holidays fall on a weekday in August 2027, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.

Canada August deadlines

None of the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists falls in August. The Civic Holiday is not one of them. The Toronto Stock Exchange's lists of market holidays for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on it, on Monday 4 August 2025 and Monday 3 August 2026, and the Canada Revenue Agency's list of public holidays for 2026 has it as Civic Holiday (excluding Quebec). It is not in this calculator's federal data; the Canada calculator page links a page for each province and territory, and each of those counts its own list.

Canada reporting cycles and business-day rules

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a remitter type sets how often payroll deductions are remitted and affects the due dates. A regular remitter's due date is the 15th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 1 remitter remits up to twice a month: for the 1st to the 15th by the 25th day of the same month, and for the 16th to the end of the month by the 10th day of the next month. An accelerated Threshold 2 remitter remits up to four times a month, by the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. A quarterly remitter's due dates are April 15, July 15, October 15 and January 15. When a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognized by the CRA, the payment is on time if the CRA receives it, or it is processed at a Canadian financial institution, on or before the next business day. The Toronto Stock Exchange publishes its own list of market closures. Its lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday, which are not among the ten general holidays of section 166 of the Canada Labour Code, and do not list Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are.

August 2027 business days compared by country

Working-day counts vary across countries because each country observes its own public holidays. The table below shows August 2027 under 11 of the site's 25 holiday calendars; the summary above gives Canada's own count.

How August 2027 compares year over year

August 2026 had 21 business days, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, July 2027 has 21 business days and September 2027 has 20. Looking forward, August 2028 has 23 business days under the same Canadian federal holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Canada

The 22-day count for August 2027 is Monday to Friday less the weekday dates this site's data lists for the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) states an accelerated Threshold 2 remitter's payroll remittance due dates in working days: the 3rd working day after the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and the last day of the month. For its due dates the CRA recognizes its own list of public holidays. The CRA's list of public holidays includes Easter Monday and a Civic Holiday, neither of which is among the Code's ten general holidays, so this calculator's federal list is not the CRA's list.

How August 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many business days August 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Canadian federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The middle month of the third quarter

August runs 31 days and sits in the middle of Q3, so it opens and closes nothing: no quarter, no half, no year. That makes it the month whose working-day count is least likely to be checked and most likely to be assumed. In a common year August shares its weekday alignment with February and March, which is the widest such group in the calendar.

In August 2027 that comes to 22 business days across 31 calendar days, against 21 in July 2027 and 20 in September 2027.

The month opens across a weekend

The 1st of August is a Sunday, a weekend day under the Canadian federal calendar, whose week runs against a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.

The month's first working day is Monday, August 2, and August 2027 carries 22 business days in total.

Five working stretches

August splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.

The working days of August 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from August 2 to August 6. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with two, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In August 2027 the three are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

Only Monday and Tuesday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.

A month with no closures, and a long one

August 2027 contains no Canadian federal holiday on any date, working or otherwise. A month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, so its count is set entirely by the weekday it opens on and its length, and here both work in the month's favour: 22 business days across 31 calendar days.

Months at this end of the range are the ones worth reserving for work that needs consecutive days rather than cumulative days. The constraint that usually breaks a long run, a closure landing mid-week, is absent, so the month's structure is entirely weekend-driven and repeats on a seven-day cycle.

A closure sits just outside the month

August 2027 contains no Canadian federal closure of its own, but one sits within a week of its edge. A closure just outside a month still reaches into it: work displaced from the closed day lands on the working days beside it, and those are inside August whichever side the holiday falls on.

Looking outside the month, the last was Canada Day on July 1, 2027, 31 calendar days before August began and the next is Labour Day on September 6, 2027, 6 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Canadian federal calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which none falls in August. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

An early-week close

August runs out after the second working day of its last week. Most of that week belongs to the next month, so the tail of August 2027 is unusually thin: two working days carry whatever the month-end process needs, and the week's remaining capacity is not available to this period.

The last working day of August 2027 is Tuesday, August 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Friday, August 27, four calendar days before the month closes.

The middle month of the quarter

August is the middle month of Q3. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.

Across the whole quarter there are 63 business days, of which 22 fall in August. The other two months carry July 2027 with 21 and September 2027 with 20. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of August lands in a month with less room than this one had.

The middle of the working week is the scarcest

The third working day of the week is the one August gives least often. Mid-week scarcity is the easiest kind to absorb, because work pinned to the middle of a week can usually move a day in either direction without crossing a weekend.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, August 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the long end of the year

August sits among the longer working months of 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar. Where a month falls in that ranking is decided by two independent things, its calendar length and how many closures land on its working days, so a month can move several places between adjacent years without its length changing at all.

2027 carries 251 business days in total under the Canadian federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is October 2027 with 20, a spread of 2. August ranks 4th of the twelve with 22.

Canada closures across the year

A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Canada is placed as follows.

Across 2027 the Canadian federal closures fall 2 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the Canadian federal data for 2027 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between January 1, 2027 and March 26, 2027, 84 calendar days with no Canadian federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Canadian federal calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Canadian federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2027. The densest month of the year is September 2027 with two closures on working days.

One working day more than last year

There is one more business day in August 2027 than in August 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.

August opens 2026 on a Saturday, 2027 on a Sunday, and 2028 on a Tuesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, August 2028 carries 23 business days.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in August 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Canadian federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in August 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of August on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on August 31, 2027, a working day under the Canadian federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days
Dated August 1August 31, 2027September 30, 2027 (rolls to October 1, 2027)

Dated August 31September 30, 2027 (rolls to October 1, 2027)October 30, 2027 (rolls to November 1, 2027)

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Canada calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in August 2027 under the Canadian federal holiday calendar?
August 2027 has 22 business days under the Canadian federal holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 9 fall on a weekend and 0 are Canadian federal holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 22 weekdays are countable as business days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Canada holidays affect August 2027?
August 2027 contains no Canadian federal holidays that fall on a weekday, so on this calculator's holiday set the month loses no working day.
Which provinces does this Canadian calendar cover?
No province or territory by its own list. This calculator uses the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists. Part III of the Code, which holds section 166, applies under section 167(1), with the exception that subsection states, to employment in or in connection with the operation of a federal work, undertaking or business; the Government of Canada's list of federally regulated private sectors includes banks, telecommunications, air transportation and road transportation services that cross provincial or international borders. The same list puts the federal public service under Parts II and IV of the Code only. Family Day, on which the Toronto Stock Exchange's lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets, and Easter Monday, the Civic Holiday and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day (Quebec only), which the Canada Revenue Agency's list of public holidays for 2026 names, are not among the ten and are not in this site's federal data. The Canada calculator page links a page for each province and territory, and each of those counts its own list.
Why does the Toronto Stock Exchange calendar differ from this count?
The exchange publishes its own list of market closures, and it is not the Code's list. The Toronto Stock Exchange's lists for 2025 and 2026 close the markets on Family Day and the Civic Holiday; neither is among the ten general holidays that section 166 of the Canada Labour Code lists and this calculator excludes. Neither list names Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which are both general holidays under section 166 and are excluded here. A count of trading days therefore follows the exchange's list, not this calculator's.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Canada. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Canadian federal holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. August 2026 had 21 business days, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year.
When is the last working day of August 2027?
The last working day of August 2027 under the Canadian federal calendar is Tuesday, August 31. The month's last calendar day is Tuesday, August 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Friday, August 27.
How many working days in a row does August 2027 offer?
August 2027 has 22 business days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in five stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from August 2 to August 6. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
