Brazil March deadlines
When Easter is late, Carnival reaches into March, as it did on 3 and 4 March 2025, and when Easter is early, Good Friday falls in March, as it does on 26 March 2027. The federal government's annual list prints Good Friday as a feriado nacional, Lei 9.093/1995 counts it among the religious holidays municipal law declares, and FEBRABAN's bank-holiday calendar includes it; this calculator counts it as a closure. CVM-registered companies with a calendar year-end file their standardised annual financial statements (DFP) by March 31, or on the day they send the financial statements if that comes first (Resolução CVM 80/2022, art. 30). Social-security contributions on February's pay are due by March 20.

Brazil reporting cycles and business-day rules
Brazilian business days in this calculator follow the financial system rather than the labour calendar, and its thirteen closure days a year are of three kinds. Nine are feriados nacionais by federal statute: seven under article 1 of Lei 662/1949 as amended by Lei 10.607/2002, 12 October under Lei 6.802/1980 and 20 November under Lei 14.759/2023. Good Friday reads two ways: the federal government's annual list prints it as a feriado nacional, while Lei 9.093/1995 counts it among the religious holidays that municipal law declares, and FEBRABAN's bank-holiday calendar lists it. Carnival Monday and Tuesday and Corpus Christi are only ponto facultativo for federal staff, under the annual portaria of the Ministério da Gestão e da Inovação em Serviços Públicos. The calculator counts them because article 6 of Resolução CMN 4.880/2020 takes them, with weekends and national holidays, out of the business days for financial-market operations, and the Banco Central's STR settles only on the days that remain. B3's 2026 trading calendar also has no session on 24 or 31 December, which are business days for the financial system and which this calculator counts as business days. Two payroll deadlines share the 20th of the month after the payroll month: the FGTS deposit under article 15 of Lei 8.036/1990, as amended by Lei 14.438/2022, and the social-security contributions a company withholds and owes under article 30, I, b of Lei 8.212/1991, which fall due on the business day before when there is no banking on the 20th. The 13º salário comes from Lei 4.090/1962, not the CLT, and Lei 4.749/1965 sets its payment by December 20 with a half-salary advance between February and November.

How March 2027 compares year over year
March 2026 also had 22 dias úteis, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, February 2027 has 18 dias úteis and April 2027 has 21. Looking forward, March 2028 has 23 dias úteis under the same Brazilian bank holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in Brazil
A São Paulo treasury team uses the 22-day March 2027 count because the Banco Central do Brasil's STR, which settles transfers in real time and operation by operation, runs only on the days Resolução CMN 4.880/2020 treats as business days for financial-market operations. A Belo Horizonte payroll controller works to the two deadlines that share the 20th of the month after the payroll month, the FGTS deposit under Lei 8.036/1990 and the social-security contributions under Lei 8.212/1991, and knows the social-security payment moves to the business day before when banks are shut on the 20th. The same controller schedules the 13º salário, whose half-salary advance is due between February and November and whose balance is due by December 20 under Lei 4.749/1965.

How March 2027 is shaped
The headline count answers how many dias úteis March 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Brazilian bank holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The month that closes the first quarter
March closes Q1 and is one of the seven 31-day months. Because it ends a quarter, its final working day is also the quarter's final working day, so a March count carries two boundaries rather than one. It is also the month in which the Gregorian year's day-of-week pattern first repeats: March and November always share the same weekday alignment in any given year.
In March 2027 that comes to 22 dias úteis across 31 calendar days, against 18 in February 2027 and 21 in April 2027.
A clean start to the working week
March 2027 opens on the first working day of the week. That is the alignment where the month's own numbering and the working week agree: week one of the month is a whole working week that belongs entirely to March, with nothing borrowed from the month before. Of the 5 possible starts this is the only one where "the first week" and "the first 5 dias úteis" describe the same span.
The opening stretch runs from Monday, March 1 to March 5, five dias úteis before the first break. March 2027 carries 22 dias úteis in total, so that opening block is 23% of the month's working capacity.
Five working stretches
March splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of March 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 4, and 3 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from March 1 to March 5. A task needing more consecutive dias úteis than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with three, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.
Three weekdays occur five times
A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In March 2027 the three are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.
All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each occur 5 times. A weekend of two days can take at most two of them, and had it done so the same month would carry 20 dias úteis rather than 22.
One closure, and where it lands
March 2027 carries a single Brazilian bank closure on a working day: Sexta-feira Santa on Friday, March 26. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.
It sits directly beside a weekend rather than inside a working week, so it extends an existing break instead of creating a new one. That is the cheapest position a holiday can occupy: the month loses a day but keeps its shape.
19 working days pass before the closure and only 3 follow it. With the break past the midpoint, most of the month's capacity has already been spent when it arrives, so anything the closure displaces competes for a shrinking remainder.
The closures around this month
March 2027 carries one Brazilian bank closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Carnaval (terça) on February 9, 2027, 20 calendar days before March began and the next is Tiradentes on April 21, 2027, 21 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2027 the Brazilian bank calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which one falls in March. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
A midweek close
The month ends in the middle of a working week. Two working days of the final calendar week fall in March and the remainder in the month after, which makes the closing week a partial period on both sides. A midweek close is the pattern most likely to push month-end tasks into the following month by default, simply because the week continues past the boundary.
The last working day of March 2027 is Wednesday, March 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Monday, March 29, two calendar days before the month closes.
The quarter closes here
March closes Q1, so the quarter's last working day and this month's last working day are the same date. Everything the quarter has deferred arrives inside these 22 dias úteis, and there is no further month in the period to move it into.
Across the whole quarter there are 60 dias úteis, of which 22 fall in March. The other two months carry January 2027 with 20 and February 2027 with 18. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of March lands in a month with less room than this one had.
The week's last working day is the scarcest
The last working day of the week is the one March gives least often. That matters more than the equivalent shortfall mid-week, because end-of-week cutoffs tend to be the ones that cannot move: work deferred past them waits out the whole weekend rather than a single night.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, March 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 5, Thursday 4, and Friday 3. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the long end of the year
March sits among the longer working months of 2027 under the Brazilian bank calendar. Where a month falls in that ranking is decided by two independent things, its calendar length and how many closures land on its working days, so a month can move several places between adjacent years without its length changing at all.
2027 carries 251 dias úteis in total under the Brazilian bank calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2027 with 23 and the shortest is February 2027 with 18, a spread of 5. March ranks 2nd of the twelve with 22.
Brazil closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Brazil is placed as follows.
Across 2027 the Brazilian bank closures fall 4 in Q1, 2 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 3 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 27, 2027 and September 7, 2027, 103 calendar days with no Brazilian bank closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Brazilian bank calendar is no exception.
2027 opens its Brazilian bank closures with Confraternização Universal on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Proclamação da República on November 15, 2027. The densest month of the year is February 2027 with two closures on working days.
The same count as last year
March 2027 and March 2026 carry the same number of dias úteis, 22 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.
March opens 2026 on a Sunday, 2027 on a Monday, and 2028 on a Wednesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, March 2028 carries 23 dias úteis.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
One of the common monthly anchor dates in March 2027 lands outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Brazilian bank calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Brazilian bank calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| March 1 | Monday | Working day | March 1 |
| March 5 | Friday | Working day | March 5 |
| March 10 | Wednesday | Working day | March 10 |
| March 15 | Monday | Working day | March 15 |
| March 20 | Saturday | Weekend | March 22, 2027 |
| March 25 | Thursday | Working day | March 25 |
| March 31 | Wednesday | Working day | March 31 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in March 2027
An invoice dated the 1st of March on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on March 31, 2027, a working day under the Brazilian bank calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated March 1 | March 31, 2027 | April 30, 2027 |
| Dated March 15 | April 14, 2027 | May 14, 2027 |
| Dated March 31 | April 30, 2027 | May 30, 2027 (rolls to May 31, 2027) |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Brazil calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
