Business Days in May 2027 for Israel

May 2027 has 25 working days under the Israeli public holiday calendar. May 2027 contains one Israeli public holiday on a weekday. The month covers 31 calendar days, of which 5 are Saturday (Shabbat). That count drives invoice cycles, payroll runs, and any contract that defines deadlines as a number of working days in Israel.

Israel May deadlines

Employers report and pay national insurance contributions for April to Bituach Leumi on the 15th. Independence Day moves with the Hebrew calendar: the Bank of Israel lists it on 22 April in 2026 and on 12 May in 2027, and this calculator's data carries the same dates. In 2027 Independence Day is a Wednesday, so it takes one business day out of May in this calculator.

Israel reporting cycles and business-day rules

For Israel the calculator counts the operating days of ZAHAV, the Bank of Israel's RTGS payment system: Sunday to Friday are business days and Saturday is the only weekly rest day. It excludes the days in its data: for 2024 to 2027, every day the Bank of Israel's ZAHAV calendar for the year marks as a non-business day. In the 2026 and 2027 calendars ZAHAV's banking business day ends at 18:30, or at 14:00 on Fridays and holiday eves; those short business days count as full business days here. Government ministries on the five-day week work Sunday to Thursday (Civil Service Regulations, paragraph 31.111, in the National Insurance Institute's copy dated 29 May 2022) and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange trades Monday to Friday, so a deadline that runs on either of those weeks is not this count. Employers report and pay national insurance contributions to Bituach Leumi on the 15th of each month for the previous month.

How May 2027 compares year over year

May 2026 also had 25 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, April 2027 has 20 working days and June 2027 has 21. Looking forward, May 2028 has 21 working days under the same Israeli public holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Israel

The 25 business days of May 2027 are counted on the Sunday-to-Friday week of ZAHAV, the Bank of Israel's RTGS payment system, so every Friday that is not a holiday is in the total. A counterparty on another week needs a different count: a government ministry on the five-day week works Sunday to Thursday (Civil Service Regulations, paragraph 31.111, in the National Insurance Institute's copy dated 29 May 2022), and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange trades Monday to Friday. For the ministries' week, choose Sunday to Thursday (government ministries) under Working week on the calculator, which then leaves out the Fridays as well as the Saturdays; no setting counts the exchange's week. An employer counting toward Bituach Leumi's payment date should check where the 15th of the month falls.

How May 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many working days May 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Israeli public holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday (Shabbat) as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The middle month of the second quarter

May runs 31 days and sits in the middle of Q2, the position with neither a quarter opening nor a quarter close to anchor it. It shares its weekday alignment with January in a common year, so the two months carry the same underlying structure twelve months apart. A 31-day month always carries three weekdays five times, which is what makes its working-day count the most sensitive of the four month lengths to where it starts.

In May 2027 that comes to 25 working days across 31 calendar days, against 24 in April 2027 and 25 in June 2027.

The month opens across a weekend

The 1st of May is a Saturday, a weekend day under the Israeli public calendar, whose week runs against a Saturday (Shabbat) weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.

The month's first working day is Sunday, May 2, and May 2027 carries 25 working days in total.

Six working stretches

The month's working days fall into six stretches. Six is the shape a month takes when its weekends divide it evenly and at least one closure lands inside a working week rather than beside one, so the fragmentation is not simply a function of the month's length.

The working days of May 2027 arrive in stretches of 6, 3, 2, 6, 6, and 2 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs six days, from May 2 to May 7. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with six consecutive days and closes with two, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In May 2027 the three are Sunday, Monday, and Saturday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

Only Sunday and Monday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday (Shabbat) weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.

One closure, and where it lands

May 2027 carries a single Israeli public closure on a working day: Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) on Wednesday, May 12. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.

The closure sits inside a working week rather than beside a weekend, so it splits one stretch into two shorter ones. The month loses a day and gains an internal boundary, and the second effect is the one a plan built from the total will miss.

nine working days pass before the closure and 16 follow it, which puts the break just short of the month's midpoint. A closure near the middle divides the month into two usable halves rather than trimming one end of it.

The closures around this month

May 2027 carries one Israeli public closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was Passover (day 7) on April 28, 2027, 3 calendar days before May began and the next is Shavuot on June 11, 2027, 11 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Israeli public calendar puts nine closures on working days, of which one falls in May. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

An early-week close

May runs out after the second working day of its last week. Most of that week belongs to the next month, so the tail of May 2027 is unusually thin: two working days carry whatever the month-end process needs, and the week's remaining capacity is not available to this period.

The last working day of May 2027 is Monday, May 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Friday, May 28, three calendar days before the month closes.

The middle month of the quarter

May is the middle month of Q2. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.

Across the whole quarter there are 74 working days, of which 25 fall in May. The other two months carry April 2027 with 24 and June 2027 with 25. It is the largest of the three, so work deferred out of May lands in a month with less room than this one had.

An uneven working week

The working weekdays of May 2027 are unevenly distributed once closures are removed: two occurrences separate the most frequent from the least. A spread that wide means a weekly commitment can cost noticeably more or less depending only on which weekday it sits on, which is not visible in the month's headline total.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, May 2027 gives Sunday 5, Monday 5, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 3, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Where the month sits in the year

May sits in the middle of 2027 by working-day count under the Israeli public calendar. The middle of that ranking is where a month's total is least informative on its own, because a mid-ranked month can be a long month carrying closures or a short one carrying none, and the two need different plans.

2027 carries 304 working days in total under the Israeli public calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2027 with 27 and the shortest is October 2027 with 23, a spread of 4. May ranks 8th of the twelve with 25.

Israel closures across the year

A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and Israel is placed as follows.

Across 2027 the Israeli public closures fall 1 in Q1, 4 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 3 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Saturday (Shabbat) weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between June 11, 2027 and August 12, 2027, 62 calendar days with no Israeli public closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Israeli public calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Israeli public closures with Purim (Tel Aviv) on March 23, 2027 and ends them with Yom Kippur on October 11, 2027. The densest month of the year is October 2027 with three closures on working days.

The same count as last year

May 2027 and May 2026 carry the same number of working days, 25 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.

May opens 2026 on a Friday, 2027 on a Saturday, and 2028 on a Monday. The alignment moves every year, by one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, and here it happens to leave the totals level while changing which dates the working days sit on. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, May 2028 carries 25 working days.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in May 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Israeli public calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in May 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of May on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on May 31, 2027, a working day under the Israeli public calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Israel calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in May 2027 under the Israeli public holiday calendar?
May 2027 has 25 working days under the Israeli public holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 5 fall on a weekend and 1 is an Israeli public holiday that lands on a weekday. The remaining 25 weekdays are countable as working days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Israel holidays affect May 2027?
May 2027 contains one Israeli public holiday: Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) on Wednesday, May 12. The calculator skips it. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
Why does this calculator count Fridays for Israel?
Because it counts the operating days of ZAHAV, the Bank of Israel's RTGS payment system, which run Sunday to Friday; Saturday is the only weekly rest day. Fridays and holiday eves are short business days there (in the 2026 and 2027 calendars the banking business day ends at 14:00 on them) and count as full business days here. Not every Israeli institution keeps that week. Government ministries on the five-day week work Sunday to Thursday (Civil Service Regulations, paragraph 31.111, in the National Insurance Institute's copy dated 29 May 2022), and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange trades Monday to Friday, so a deadline that runs on either week is not the default count. For the ministries' week the calculator has a Working week setting: Sunday to Thursday (government ministries) leaves the Fridays out as well and keeps the same holidays.
How are the Jewish high holidays handled in working-day math?
The holidays follow the Hebrew calendar, so their Gregorian dates change from year to year. This calculator's data carries the same nine every year: Passover day 1 and day 7, Yom Ha'atzmaut, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah day 1 and day 2, Yom Kippur, Sukkot day 1 and Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah. For 2024 to 2027 it also carries the other days the Bank of Israel's ZAHAV payment system closes: Purim on its Tel Aviv date, the Fast of the Ninth of Av, the eve of Yom Kippur and the election days of 27 February 2024 and 27 October 2026. One that falls on a Saturday costs no business day here, because Saturday is already off, while one that falls on a Friday does cost one: in 2026, Rosh Hashanah day 1, Sukkot day 1 and Shemini Atzeret fall on Saturdays, and Shavuot falls on Friday 22 May.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Israel. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Israeli public holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. May 2026 also had 25 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year.
When is the last working day of May 2027?
The last working day of May 2027 under the Israeli public calendar is Monday, May 31. The month's last calendar day is Monday, May 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Friday, May 28.
How many working days in a row does May 2027 offer?
May 2027 has 25 working days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in six stretches of 6, 3, 2, 6, 6, and 2 days, so the longest unbroken run is six days, from May 2 to May 7. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
