India November deadlines
A monthly GST taxpayer files GSTR-3B for October by November 20, and a quarterly-scheme taxpayer pays tax for October in PMT-06 by November 25. Guru Nanak Jayanti and, in some years, Diwali fall in November. An employer remits provident fund contributions for October within fifteen days of the close of the month, by November 15, under paragraph 28 of the Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 2026. Under CBDT Circular 07/2026 the return date for the persons in serial number 2 of the table in section 139(1) of the Income-tax Act, 1961 is 21 November 2026 for assessment year 2026-27. Diwali 2026 is a Sunday, 8 November, so it closes no weekday, and Guru Nanak Jayanti is Tuesday 24 November.

India reporting cycles and business-day rules
This calculator counts Monday to Friday and leaves out the 14 holidays that the Department of Personnel and Training's Office Memorandum on the 2027 holidays (F.No.12/2/2023-JCA, dated 16 July 2026) lists as compulsory for Central Government administrative offices, plus Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti. Paragraph 3.2 of that memorandum allows no substitute holiday when a festival holiday falls on a weekly off or another non-working day, or when more than one festival falls on the same day, and the calculator adds none. Under rule 61 of the CGST Rules, 2017 a monthly GSTR-3B is due on or before the 20th of the following month, and a quarterly one on or before the 22nd or the 24th of the month after the quarter, depending on the state or union territory of the principal place of business. Section 408(1) of the Income-tax Act, 2025 has advance tax paid in four instalments, due on or before 15 June, 15 September, 15 December and 15 March. These pages give those dates as the rule and the section state them and adjust none for a Sunday or a holiday.

How November 2026 compares year over year
November 2025 had 19 working days, so November 2026 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, October 2026 has 20 working days and December 2026 has 22. Looking forward, November 2027 has 22 working days under the same Indian Central Government holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in India
The 20 working days in November 2026 are the month's Monday-to-Friday days less the dates in this calculator's data: the 14 holidays that are compulsory for Central Government administrative offices and Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti. For a project or contract timeline with a Central Government office, add the three further days that apply to that office under Advanced options. Bank holidays are not this list: the Reserve Bank of India's holiday page marks each holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act separately for each of its regional offices, so for a count that follows a bank, read that office's list.

How November 2026 is shaped
The headline count answers how many working days November 2026 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Indian Central Government holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The middle month of the final quarter
November runs 30 days and is the middle month of Q4. It shares its weekday alignment with March in every year, so a November calendar is a March calendar with a day removed from the end. Sitting between a quarter opening and a year end, it is the month where deferred work is most often assumed to have room and least often measured.
In November 2026 that comes to 20 working days across 30 calendar days, against 20 in October 2026 and 22 in December 2026.
The month opens across a weekend
The 1st of November is a Sunday, a weekend day under the Indian Central Government calendar, whose week runs against a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.
The month's first working day is Monday, November 2, and November 2026 carries 20 working days in total.
One working day stands alone
One working day in November 2026 is walled in on both sides. Monday, November 23 sits between the Saturday and Sunday weekend and Guru Nanak Jayanti, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.
The working days of November 2026 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 1, 3, and 1 day. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from November 2 to November 6. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with one, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.
Two weekdays occur five times
Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Sunday and Monday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.
Only Monday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
One closure, and where it lands
November 2026 carries a single Indian Central Government closure on a working day: Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday, November 24. A holiday's cost to a month is not only the day it removes; it is also where the removal falls, because the same closure can extend an existing break or cut a working stretch in half.
Placed where it is, the closure also strands a working day: the run structure above shows a stretch of exactly one. That is the expensive shape for a single holiday, because it removes a day and devalues another.
16 working days pass before the closure and only 4 follow it. With the break past the midpoint, most of the month's capacity has already been spent when it arrives, so anything the closure displaces competes for a shrinking remainder.
The closures around this month
November 2026 carries one Indian Central Government closure of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Dussehra on October 20, 2026, 12 calendar days before November began and the next is Christmas Day on December 25, 2026, 25 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2026 the Indian Central Government calendar puts 12 closures on working days, of which one falls in November. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends where a week begins
The final calendar day of November 2026 is the first working day of a week. A single working day of that week belongs to November and the rest to the month following, which is the least amount of closing capacity a month can have. Anything that must be done "in the last week" of November really has to be done before the preceding weekend.
The last working day of November 2026 is Monday, November 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Thursday, November 26, four calendar days before the month closes.
The middle month of the quarter
November is the middle month of Q4. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.
Across the whole quarter there are 62 working days, of which 20 fall in November. The other two months carry October 2026 with 20 and December 2026 with 22. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit November.
The week's second working day is the scarcest
The second working day of the week is the one November gives least often. Weekly cycles that run one day behind the start of the week, which is where most reporting handovers sit, lose an occurrence relative to the rest.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, November 2026 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Toward the short end of the year
November sits among the shorter working months of 2026 under the Indian Central Government calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.
2026 carries 249 working days in total under the Indian Central Government calendar. The longest month of the year is July 2026 with 23 and the shortest is May 2026 with 19, a spread of 4. November ranks 11th of the twelve with 20.
India closures across the year
A month's working-day count only means something against the country's whole calendar. Two countries that share a weekend and happen to have the same closure-free month can still run very different years, and India is placed as follows.
Across 2026 the Indian Central Government closures fall 2 in Q1, 5 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the Saturday and Sunday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2026 calendar sits between January 26, 2026 and March 31, 2026, 64 calendar days with no Indian Central Government closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Indian Central Government calendar is no exception.
2026 opens its Indian Central Government closures with Republic Day on January 26, 2026 and ends them with Christmas Day on December 25, 2026. The densest month of the year is April 2026 with two closures on working days.
One working day more than last year
There is one more working day in November 2026 than in November 2025: 20 against 19. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.
November opens 2025 on a Saturday, 2026 on a Sunday, and 2027 on a Monday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, November 2027 carries 22 working days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in November 2026 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Indian Central Government calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the Indian Central Government calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 1 | Sunday | Weekend | November 2, 2026 |
| November 5 | Thursday | Working day | November 5 |
| November 10 | Tuesday | Working day | November 10 |
| November 15 | Sunday | Weekend | November 16, 2026 |
| November 20 | Friday | Working day | November 20 |
| November 25 | Wednesday | Working day | November 25 |
| November 30 | Monday | Working day | November 30 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in November 2026
An invoice dated the 1st of November on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on December 1, 2026, a working day under the Indian Central Government calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated November 1 | December 1, 2026 | December 31, 2026 |
| Dated November 15 | December 15, 2026 | January 14, 2027 |
| Dated November 30 | December 30, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the India calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
