United States November deadlines
Veterans Day on November 11 is the second of the two days each year that split the markets, a federal holiday on which the bond market closes while the NYSE trades a full session. Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday and closes both. The NYSE then runs a shortened session the following day, closing at 1 p.m. Eastern. November is one of only two months carrying two federal holidays, alongside January, so the settlement calendar is unusually broken up.

Those dates in 2026
None of the dates named above falls on a working day in 2026 under the US federal calendar. A fixed calendar date advances by one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, so which side of the working week it lands on changes on a four-year cycle rather than staying put.

United States reporting cycles and business-day rules
Periods under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure are not counted in business days. Rule 6(a)(1) excludes the day of the event that triggers the period and counts every day after it, including intermediate Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays; when the last day is a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the period runs to the end of the next day that is none of those. Before the 2009 amendment the rule left intermediate Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays out of periods shorter than 11 days, and that exclusion no longer applies. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, this calculator leaves out the Friday before it, which 5 U.S.C. 6103(b) makes the holiday for federal employees on a Monday-to-Friday workweek; the Federal Reserve Banks stay open that Friday. Estimated tax payments of a corporation are due on the 15th day of the 4th, 6th, 9th and 12th months of its tax year, which for a calendar-year corporation is April 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15. IRS Publication 509 states the general rule that an act due on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday is timely on the next day that is none of those, and by legal holiday it means any legal holiday in the District of Columbia.

How November 2026 compares year over year
November 2025 had 18 business days, so November 2026 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, October 2026 has 21 business days and December 2026 has 22. Looking forward, November 2027 has 20 business days under the same US federal holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in United States
The 19 business days in November 2026 are the count to use for invoice due dates, contract deadlines and SLA windows stated in business days. Federal contracts under the FAR count in calendar days, because FAR 2.101 defines a day as a calendar day unless otherwise specified. For an invoice payment, FAR 32.904(b)(1) sets the due date at the later of the 30th day after the designated billing office receives a proper invoice and the 30th day after government acceptance of the supplies or services. Paragraphs (c) through (f) of the same section set other dates for architect-engineer, construction, cost-reimbursement service and food contracts.

How November 2026 is shaped
The headline count answers how many business days November 2026 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the US federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The middle month of the final quarter
November runs 30 days and is the middle month of Q4. It shares its weekday alignment with March in every year, so a November calendar is a March calendar with a day removed from the end. Sitting between a quarter opening and a year end, it is the month where deferred work is most often assumed to have room and least often measured.
In November 2026 that comes to 19 business days across 30 calendar days, against 21 in October 2026 and 22 in December 2026.
The month opens across a weekend
The 1st of November is a Sunday, a weekend day under the US federal calendar, whose week runs against a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.
The month's first working day is Monday, November 2, and November 2026 carries 19 business days in total.
One working day stands alone
One working day in November 2026 is walled in on both sides. Friday, November 27 sits between Thanksgiving Day and the Saturday and Sunday weekend, with no adjacent working day on either side. That single day still counts toward the month's total, but it cannot carry work that needs a second consecutive day, and anything that slips on it slips across a full closure rather than overnight.
The working days of November 2026 arrive in stretches of 5, 2, 2, 5, 3, 1, and 1 day. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from November 2 to November 6. A task needing more consecutive business days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with one, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.
Two weekdays occur five times
Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Sunday and Monday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.
Only Monday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
Two closures in the month
Two US federal holidays fall on working days in November 2026: Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11 and Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 26. Two closures remove two days from the total, but their effect on the month's usable structure depends on how far apart they are.
They sit 15 calendar days apart, one in each half of the month, so November is interrupted twice at roughly even spacing rather than once heavily. That spreads the loss but leaves no long uninterrupted stretch in either half.
seven working days pass before the closure and 12 follow it, which puts the break just short of the month's midpoint. A closure near the middle divides the month into two usable halves rather than trimming one end of it.
The closures around this month
November 2026 carries two US federal closures of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Columbus Day on October 12, 2026, 20 calendar days before November began and the next is Christmas Day on December 25, 2026, 25 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2026 the US federal calendar puts 11 closures on working days, of which two fall in November. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends where a week begins
The final calendar day of November 2026 is the first working day of a week. A single working day of that week belongs to November and the rest to the month following, which is the least amount of closing capacity a month can have. Anything that must be done "in the last week" of November really has to be done before the preceding weekend.
The last working day of November 2026 is Monday, November 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Wednesday, November 25, five calendar days before the month closes.
The middle month of the quarter
November is the middle month of Q4. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.
Across the whole quarter there are 62 business days, of which 19 fall in November. The other two months carry October 2026 with 21 and December 2026 with 22. It is the smallest of the three, so the quarter's capacity sits mostly in the other two months and a plan that spreads work evenly across the quarter will over-commit November.
The middle of the working week is the scarcest
The third working day of the week is the one November gives least often. Mid-week scarcity is the easiest kind to absorb, because work pinned to the middle of a week can usually move a day in either direction without crossing a weekend.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, November 2026 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 3, Thursday 3, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
One of the year's shortest working months
No month of 2026 carries fewer business days than November under the US federal calendar. Two forces set a month's position in that ranking, its length and its closures, and they can either compound or cancel: a long month with several closures and a short month with none can land on the same count.
2026 carries 250 business days in total under the US federal calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2026 with 22 and the shortest is November 2026 with 19, a spread of 3. November ranks 12th of the twelve with 19.
Inside one of the year's denser months
November 2026 carries more than one US federal closure, which puts it among the year's denser months. Closures are never spread evenly across a year, so a month's own count says as much about the country's calendar as about the month.
Across 2026 the US federal closures fall 3 in Q1, 2 in Q2, 2 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. Every holiday in the US federal data for 2026 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2026 calendar sits between February 16, 2026 and May 25, 2026, 98 calendar days with no US federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the US federal calendar is no exception.
2026 opens its US federal closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2026 and ends them with Christmas Day on December 25, 2026. The densest month of the year is January 2026 with two closures on working days.
One working day more than last year
There is one more business day in November 2026 than in November 2025: 19 against 18. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.
November opens 2025 on a Saturday, 2026 on a Sunday, and 2027 on a Monday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, November 2027 carries 20 business days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in November 2026 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the US federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the US federal calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 1 | Sunday | Weekend | November 2, 2026 |
| November 5 | Thursday | Working day | November 5 |
| November 10 | Tuesday | Working day | November 10 |
| November 15 | Sunday | Weekend | November 16, 2026 |
| November 20 | Friday | Working day | November 20 |
| November 25 | Wednesday | Working day | November 25 |
| November 30 | Monday | Working day | November 30 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in November 2026
An invoice dated the 1st of November on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on December 1, 2026, a working day under the US federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated November 1 | December 1, 2026 | December 31, 2026 |
| Dated November 15 | December 15, 2026 | January 14, 2027 |
| Dated November 30 | December 30, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the United States calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
