bank holidays in November 2026
No England and Wales bank holidays fall on a weekday in November 2026, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.
United Kingdom November deadlines
The Monetary Policy Committee's November announcement is on Thursday 5 November 2026, with the November Monetary Policy Report, and the next is on Thursday 17 December. An employer who pays monthly owes the PAYE bill for the tax month ending November 5 by November 22, or by the 19th if it is paid by cheque through the post. November has no bank holiday in England and Wales; for Scotland, Schedule 1 to the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 names November 30, or the following Monday when that day falls on a weekend.

United Kingdom reporting cycles and business-day rules
HMRC's guidance gives PAYE two separate dates. An employer sends the Full Payment Submission on or before its employees' payday, even if it pays HMRC quarterly instead of monthly, with the exceptions HMRC lists for sending one after payday. An employer that pays monthly pays its PAYE bill by the 22nd of the next tax month, and a cheque sent through the post must reach HMRC by the 19th. A tax month starts on the 6th. The Bank of England describes the CHAPS system as usually open from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank or public holidays in England and Wales, and says customer payments must be submitted by 5.40pm. Section 442 of the Companies Act 2006 gives a private company nine months after the end of the relevant accounting reference period to file its accounts, with other periods for a first accounting reference period of more than twelve months and for a shortened one. Section 443 counts that period in months: it ends with the date in the ninth following month that corresponds to the last day of the reference period, or with the last day of that month where the reference period ends on the last day of a month.

How November 2026 compares year over year
November 2025 had 20 working days, so November 2026 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, October 2026 has 22 working days and December 2026 has 21. Looking forward, November 2027 has 22 working days under the same England and Wales bank holiday calendar.
Using this calculator in United Kingdom
With the bank holidays of England and Wales left out, November 2026 has 21 working days from Monday to Friday. Where your contract counts a period in business days, the UK calculator on this site counts it with the bank holidays of England and Wales. Court time limits under the Civil Procedure Rules are a separate matter. Rule 2.8 computes a period expressed as a number of days as clear days, which leaves out the day on which the period begins and, if the end of the period is defined by reference to an event, the day of that event. Where the specified period is 5 days or less, a Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holiday, Christmas Day or Good Friday in it does not count. For VAT, HMRC gives the deadline for submitting a return online, which is also the deadline for paying, as usually one calendar month and 7 days after the end of an accounting period, and says the return and the payment must reach it on or before the deadline even if it is on a weekend or bank holiday.

How November 2026 is shaped
The headline count answers how many working days November 2026 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the England and Wales bank holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.
The middle month of the final quarter
November runs 30 days and is the middle month of Q4. It shares its weekday alignment with March in every year, so a November calendar is a March calendar with a day removed from the end. Sitting between a quarter opening and a year end, it is the month where deferred work is most often assumed to have room and least often measured.
In November 2026 that comes to 21 working days across 30 calendar days, against 22 in October 2026 and 21 in December 2026.
The month opens across a weekend
The 1st of November is a Sunday, a weekend day under the England and Wales bank calendar, whose week runs against a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.
The month's first working day is Monday, November 2, and November 2026 carries 21 working days in total.
Five working stretches
November splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.
The working days of November 2026 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 1 day. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from November 2 to November 6. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.
The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with one, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.
Two weekdays occur five times
Thirty days is four seven-day cycles plus two, so a 30-day month has exactly two weekdays occurring five times and five occurring four times. Here they are Sunday and Monday. The pair is always consecutive, because the surplus days are the first two of the month repeated at its end.
Only Monday among them is a working day, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the Saturday and Sunday weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.
A month with no closures
There is no England and Wales bank holiday in November 2026 at all. Because a month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, the count follows directly from the calendar: 30 days, 9 of them on the Saturday and Sunday weekend, leaving 21 working days.
That makes November an unusually predictable month to plan against. Its working structure will be the same shape in any year that opens on the same weekday, and no holiday date can move it.
The closures on either side of the month
Nothing closes inside November 2026 under the England and Wales bank calendar, so the useful question is what sits on either side of it. Adjacent closures matter to a monthly plan because deadlines that fall near a month boundary are usually satisfied on the other side of it.
Looking outside the month, the last was Summer Bank Holiday on August 31, 2026, 62 calendar days before November began and the next is Christmas Day on December 25, 2026, 25 calendar days after it ends.
Across the whole of 2026 the England and Wales bank calendar puts eight closures on working days, of which none falls in November. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.
The month ends where a week begins
The final calendar day of November 2026 is the first working day of a week. A single working day of that week belongs to November and the rest to the month following, which is the least amount of closing capacity a month can have. Anything that must be done "in the last week" of November really has to be done before the preceding weekend.
The last working day of November 2026 is Monday, November 30. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Thursday, November 26, four calendar days before the month closes.
The middle month of the quarter
November is the middle month of Q4. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.
Across the whole quarter there are 64 working days, of which 21 fall in November. The other two months carry October 2026 with 22 and December 2026 with 21. It sits between the other two, which makes it the month where a quarterly plan is least likely to be thrown off by the calendar alone.
The week's second working day is the scarcest
The second working day of the week is the one November gives least often. Weekly cycles that run one day behind the start of the week, which is where most reporting handovers sit, lose an occurrence relative to the rest.
Counted as worked rather than as occurring, November 2026 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.
Where the month sits in the year
November sits in the middle of 2026 by working-day count under the England and Wales bank calendar. The middle of that ranking is where a month's total is least informative on its own, because a mid-ranked month can be a long month carrying closures or a short one carrying none, and the two need different plans.
2026 carries 253 working days in total under the England and Wales bank calendar. The longest month of the year is July 2026 with 23 and the shortest is May 2026 with 19, a spread of 4. November ranks 7th of the twelve with 21.
Inside the year's longest clear run
November 2026 sits inside the longest stretch of 2026 with no England and Wales bank closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.
Across 2026 the England and Wales bank closures fall 1 in Q1, 4 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 2 in Q4. Every holiday in the England and Wales bank data for 2026 falls on a working day, so the country's holiday count and its working-day loss are the same number this year, which is not usually the case.
The longest uninterrupted run in the 2026 calendar sits between August 31, 2026 and December 25, 2026, 116 calendar days with no England and Wales bank closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.
Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern
Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the England and Wales bank calendar is no exception.
2026 opens its England and Wales bank closures with New Year's Day on January 1, 2026 and ends them with Boxing Day (observed) on December 28, 2026. The densest month of the year is April 2026 with two closures on working days.
One working day more than last year
There is one more working day in November 2026 than in November 2025: 21 against 20. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.
November opens 2025 on a Saturday, 2026 on a Sunday, and 2027 on a Monday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, November 2027 carries 22 working days.
Where the month's anchor dates fall
Two of the common monthly anchor dates in November 2026 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the England and Wales bank calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.
| Date | Weekday | Status under the England and Wales bank calendar | First working day on or after |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 1 | Sunday | Weekend | November 2, 2026 |
| November 5 | Thursday | Working day | November 5 |
| November 10 | Tuesday | Working day | November 10 |
| November 15 | Sunday | Weekend | November 16, 2026 |
| November 20 | Friday | Working day | November 20 |
| November 25 | Wednesday | Working day | November 25 |
| November 30 | Monday | Working day | November 30 |
The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.
Net terms dated in November 2026
An invoice dated the 1st of November on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on December 1, 2026, a working day under the England and Wales bank calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.
| Invoice date | Net 30, calendar days | Net 60, calendar days |
|---|---|---|
| Dated November 1 | December 1, 2026 | December 31, 2026 |
| Dated November 15 | December 15, 2026 | January 14, 2027 |
| Dated November 30 | December 30, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the United Kingdom calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.
