días festivos in August 2027

No Spain-wide holidays fall on a weekday in August 2027, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.

Spain August deadlines

August is the thinnest month in the Spanish year for statutory deadlines. Withholding for July is due in the first twenty calendar days and monthly IVA filers settle July in the first thirty, but no quarterly window opens or closes. Asunción on August 15 is one of the twelve national and autonomous fiestas the Dirección General de Trabajo publishes each year, though it is among those a Comunidad Autónoma may substitute with a traditional holiday of its own.

Those dates in 2027

None of the dates named above falls on a working day in 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar. A fixed calendar date advances by one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, so which side of the working week it lands on changes on a four-year cycle rather than staying put.

Spain reporting cycles and business-day rules

Each provision cited here sets a filing window, not a single date. Article 71.4 of the Reglamento del IVA puts the quarterly VAT return (Modelo 303) in the first twenty días naturales (calendar days) of the month after the quarter, the return for the last period of the year in the first thirty of January, and a monthly return in the first thirty of the following month, or by the last day of February for January. Article 111.1 of the Reglamento del IRPF puts the pagos fraccionados (Modelos 130 and 131) between the 1st and the 20th of April, July and October, and the fourth quarter's between the 1st and the 30th of January. Under Article 108.1, withholdings (Modelo 111 among the returns) are declared in the first twenty días naturales of April, July, October and January, and in the first twenty of every month where numbers 1 and 2 of Article 71.3 of the Reglamento del IVA apply or where, for the income the article names, the withholder is a public administration whose last approved annual budget exceeds 6 million euros. Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014 puts the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in the 25 días naturales that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. The AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369; the AEAT page on the Modelo 303 filing period adds that Saturday is inhábil and that a last filing day which is inhábil moves to the next día hábil.

How August 2027 compares year over year

August 2026 had 21 días laborables, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, July 2027 has 22 días laborables and September 2027 has 22. Looking forward, August 2028 has 22 días laborables under the same Spain-wide holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Spain

The 22 business days of August 2027 are its Monday-to-Friday days less the days of the calculator's Spain set, the days that are a holiday in all seventeen comunidades autónomas, in Ceuta and in Melilla; a holiday missing from any of those territories is not in the set. The count measures the days the month offers for preparing a return, not where a filing window ends: Article 124.1 of Ley 27/2014, for one, sets the window for the Impuesto sobre Sociedades return (Modelo 200) in días naturales (calendar days), the 25 that follow the six months after the end of the tax period. A window's end can also move: the AEAT's 2026 taxpayer calendar says that a deadline which falls on a local or regional holiday ends on the next día hábil, except Modelo 369, whose filing period does not move.

How August 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many días laborables August 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Spain-wide holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The middle month of the third quarter

August runs 31 days and sits in the middle of Q3, so it opens and closes nothing: no quarter, no half, no year. That makes it the month whose working-day count is least likely to be checked and most likely to be assumed. In a common year August shares its weekday alignment with February and March, which is the widest such group in the calendar.

In August 2027 that comes to 22 días laborables across 31 calendar days, against 22 in July 2027 and 22 in September 2027.

The month opens across a weekend

The 1st of August is a Sunday, a weekend day under the Spain-wide calendar, whose week runs against a sábado and domingo weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.

The month's first working day is Monday, August 2, and August 2027 carries 22 días laborables in total.

Five working stretches

August splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.

The working days of August 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from August 2 to August 6. A task needing more consecutive días laborables than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with two, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In August 2027 the three are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

Only Monday and Tuesday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the sábado and domingo weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.

Every holiday this month falls on the weekend

August 2027 does contain a Spain-wide holiday, but it lands on the weekend (sábado and domingo under this calendar): Asunción de la Virgen on Sunday, August 15. A holiday costs a working day only when it displaces one, so a weekend-falling holiday leaves the month's count untouched.

Whether the day off is recovered on an adjacent weekday depends on the substitution rule of the jurisdiction, which varies and is not assumed here. This calculator counts only the dates its holiday data publishes, and for August 2027 that data lists no Spain-wide closure on a working day. Where a substitute weekday is granted, the data set carries it as a separate entry with its own date.

A long stretch with no closure at all

August 2027 sits inside an unusually long run without a Spain-wide closure. Neither the month itself nor either edge of it carries one within a month, which means the working-day count here is set by the weekend pattern alone and will repeat exactly in any year with the same alignment.

Looking outside the month, the last was Viernes Santo on March 26, 2027, 128 calendar days before August began and the next is Fiesta Nacional de España on October 12, 2027, 42 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Spain-wide calendar puts seven closures on working days, of which none falls in August. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

An early-week close

August runs out after the second working day of its last week. Most of that week belongs to the next month, so the tail of August 2027 is unusually thin: two working days carry whatever the month-end process needs, and the week's remaining capacity is not available to this period.

The last working day of August 2027 is Tuesday, August 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Friday, August 27, four calendar days before the month closes.

The middle month of the quarter

August is the middle month of Q3. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.

Across the whole quarter there are 66 días laborables, of which 22 fall in August. The other two months carry July 2027 with 22 and September 2027 with 22. All three months of the quarter carry the same working-day count, which happens when their weekday alignments and closures cancel out exactly.

The middle of the working week is the scarcest

The third working day of the week is the one August gives least often. Mid-week scarcity is the easiest kind to absorb, because work pinned to the middle of a week can usually move a day in either direction without crossing a weekend.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, August 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Where the month sits in the year

August sits in the middle of 2027 by working-day count under the Spain-wide calendar. The middle of that ranking is where a month's total is least informative on its own, because a mid-ranked month can be a long month carrying closures or a short one carrying none, and the two need different plans.

2027 carries 254 días laborables in total under the Spain-wide calendar. The longest month of the year is March 2027 with 22 and the shortest is January 2027 with 19, a spread of 3. August ranks 5th of the twelve with 22.

Inside the year's longest clear run

August 2027 sits inside the longest stretch of 2027 with no Spain-wide closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.

Across 2027 the Spain-wide closures fall 3 in Q1, 0 in Q2, 0 in Q3, and 4 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between March 26, 2027 and October 12, 2027, 200 calendar days with no Spain-wide closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Spain-wide calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Spain-wide closures with Año Nuevo on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Inmaculada Concepción on December 8, 2027. The densest month of the year is January 2027 with two closures on working days.

One working day more than last year

There is one more días laborable in August 2027 than in August 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.

August opens 2026 on a Saturday, 2027 on a Sunday, and 2028 on a Tuesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, August 2028 carries 22 días laborables.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in August 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Spain-wide calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in August 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of August on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on August 31, 2027, a working day under the Spain-wide calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Spain calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in August 2027 under the Spain-wide holiday calendar?
August 2027 has 22 días laborables under the Spain-wide holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 9 fall on a weekend and 0 are Spain-wide holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 22 weekdays are countable as días laborables for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Spain holidays affect August 2027?
August 2027 contains no Spain-wide holidays that fall on a weekday, so on this calculator's holiday set the month loses no working day.
Why does the Spanish calendar vary year-to-year?
Part of the calendar is each comunidad autónoma's choice. Article 37.2 of the Estatuto de los Trabajadores allows no more than fourteen fiestas laborales a year, two of them local, and lets a community add one more, recoverable, in a year when too few national holidays fall on a Sunday for it to set one of its traditional holidays. It names four national days to be respected in any case: the Natividad del Señor, Año Nuevo, 1 May and 12 October. Article 45.1 of Real Decreto 2001/1983 lists the national days, and nine of them, those four included, cannot be replaced (letters a to c). The letter d days, Jueves Santo, the Epifanía del Señor and San José or Santiago Apóstol, a community may replace with traditional holidays of its own, as it may the Monday rest that follows a national holiday on a Sunday (article 45.3). The communities send their lists to the ministry before 30 September (article 45.4), and the lists for 2024 to 2027 were published in the BOE as resolutions of the Dirección General de Trabajo, each counting twelve days under these rules. Article 46 adds up to two local holidays a year in each municipality. The calculator's set holds only the days that are a holiday in all seventeen comunidades autónomas, in Ceuta and in Melilla; add a regional or local date under Advanced options.
What happens when a Spanish national holiday falls on a Sunday?
The rest day moves to the Monday. Article 37.2 of the Estatuto de los Trabajadores says the rest for a holiday that coincides with a Sunday is moved "en todo caso", in every case, to the Monday immediately after, and article 45.2 of Real Decreto 2001/1983 repeats it for the national holidays. Each comunidad autónoma may replace that Monday with a traditional holiday of its own (article 45.3), so whether the Monday is a holiday depends on the territory: the list the BOE publishes for the year marks it territory by territory. Those Mondays are not in the calculator's set, which keeps the holiday on its own date; if your territory keeps the Monday, add it under Advanced options.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Spain. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Spain-wide holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. August 2026 had 21 días laborables, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year.
When is the last working day of August 2027?
The last working day of August 2027 under the Spain-wide calendar is Tuesday, August 31. The month's last calendar day is Tuesday, August 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Friday, August 27.
How many working days in a row does August 2027 offer?
August 2027 has 22 días laborables in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in five stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from August 2 to August 6. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
