bank holidays in August 2027

No Brazilian bank holidays fall on a weekday in August 2027, so the month loses no working day to a holiday on this calendar.

Brazil August deadlines

August has no feriado nacional, so every day from Monday to Friday counts as a business day here. The second-quarter ITR of a calendar-year CVM registrant is due by August 14, 45 days after June 30 (Resolução CVM 80/2022, art. 31). Social-security contributions on July's pay are due by August 20, or on the business day before when banks do not open (Lei 8.212/1991, art. 30, § 2º, II), and the FGTS deposit on July's pay by the 20th (Lei 8.036/1990, art. 15). The STR, which settles transfers between its participants in real time, runs only on business days for financial-market operations (Resolução BCB 105/2021, arts. 3 and 17).

Brazil reporting cycles and business-day rules

Brazilian business days in this calculator follow the financial system rather than the labour calendar, and its thirteen closure days a year are of three kinds. Nine are feriados nacionais by federal statute: seven under article 1 of Lei 662/1949 as amended by Lei 10.607/2002, 12 October under Lei 6.802/1980 and 20 November under Lei 14.759/2023. Good Friday reads two ways: the federal government's annual list prints it as a feriado nacional, while Lei 9.093/1995 counts it among the religious holidays that municipal law declares, and FEBRABAN's bank-holiday calendar lists it. Carnival Monday and Tuesday and Corpus Christi are only ponto facultativo for federal staff, under the annual portaria of the Ministério da Gestão e da Inovação em Serviços Públicos. The calculator counts them because article 6 of Resolução CMN 4.880/2020 takes them, with weekends and national holidays, out of the business days for financial-market operations, and the Banco Central's STR settles only on the days that remain. B3's 2026 trading calendar also has no session on 24 or 31 December, which are business days for the financial system and which this calculator counts as business days. Two payroll deadlines share the 20th of the month after the payroll month: the FGTS deposit under article 15 of Lei 8.036/1990, as amended by Lei 14.438/2022, and the social-security contributions a company withholds and owes under article 30, I, b of Lei 8.212/1991, which fall due on the business day before when there is no banking on the 20th. The 13º salário comes from Lei 4.090/1962, not the CLT, and Lei 4.749/1965 sets its payment by December 20 with a half-salary advance between February and November.

How August 2027 compares year over year

August 2026 had 21 dias úteis, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year. On the surrounding months, July 2027 has 22 dias úteis and September 2027 has 21. Looking forward, August 2028 has 23 dias úteis under the same Brazilian bank holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in Brazil

A São Paulo treasury team uses the 22-day August 2027 count because the Banco Central do Brasil's STR, which settles transfers in real time and operation by operation, runs only on the days Resolução CMN 4.880/2020 treats as business days for financial-market operations. A Belo Horizonte payroll controller works to the two deadlines that share the 20th of the month after the payroll month, the FGTS deposit under Lei 8.036/1990 and the social-security contributions under Lei 8.212/1991, and knows the social-security payment moves to the business day before when banks are shut on the 20th. The same controller schedules the 13º salário, whose half-salary advance is due between February and November and whose balance is due by December 20 under Lei 4.749/1965.

How August 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many dias úteis August 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the Brazilian bank holiday calendar and a working week that treats sábado and domingo as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The middle month of the third quarter

August runs 31 days and sits in the middle of Q3, so it opens and closes nothing: no quarter, no half, no year. That makes it the month whose working-day count is least likely to be checked and most likely to be assumed. In a common year August shares its weekday alignment with February and March, which is the widest such group in the calendar.

In August 2027 that comes to 22 dias úteis across 31 calendar days, against 22 in July 2027 and 21 in September 2027.

The month opens across a weekend

The 1st of August is a Sunday, a weekend day under the Brazilian bank calendar, whose week runs against a sábado and domingo weekend. Nothing that settles on working days moves on it. A month that opens this way loses its first working day to the calendar before any holiday is counted, and monthly cycles keyed to the 1st all resolve forward to the same date, which concentrates them.

The month's first working day is Monday, August 2, and August 2027 carries 22 dias úteis in total.

Five working stretches

August splits into five working stretches. That is the ordinary shape of a month whose only interruptions are its weekends, and it means the month's internal boundaries are all predictable a year in advance: nothing here depends on a holiday date moving.

The working days of August 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from August 2 to August 6. A task needing more consecutive dias úteis than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with two, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In August 2027 the three are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

Only Monday and Tuesday among them are working days, so part of the surplus is absorbed by the sábado and domingo weekend and never reaches the working total. That split is why two months of the same length can carry different working-day counts without any holiday being involved.

A month with no closures, and a long one

August 2027 contains no Brazilian bank holiday on any date, working or otherwise. A month with no closure loses working days only to weekends, so its count is set entirely by the weekday it opens on and its length, and here both work in the month's favour: 22 dias úteis across 31 calendar days.

Months at this end of the range are the ones worth reserving for work that needs consecutive days rather than cumulative days. The constraint that usually breaks a long run, a closure landing mid-week, is absent, so the month's structure is entirely weekend-driven and repeats on a seven-day cycle.

A closure sits just outside the month

August 2027 contains no Brazilian bank closure of its own, but one sits within a week of its edge. A closure just outside a month still reaches into it: work displaced from the closed day lands on the working days beside it, and those are inside August whichever side the holiday falls on.

Looking outside the month, the last was Corpus Christi on May 27, 2027, 66 calendar days before August began and the next is Independência do Brasil on September 7, 2027, 7 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the Brazilian bank calendar puts ten closures on working days, of which none falls in August. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

An early-week close

August runs out after the second working day of its last week. Most of that week belongs to the next month, so the tail of August 2027 is unusually thin: two working days carry whatever the month-end process needs, and the week's remaining capacity is not available to this period.

The last working day of August 2027 is Tuesday, August 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Friday, August 27, four calendar days before the month closes.

The middle month of the quarter

August is the middle month of Q3. Middle months carry the least visibility in a quarterly cycle: the opening month sets expectations and the closing month is where they are settled, so a shortfall here is the one most likely to be noticed late.

Across the whole quarter there are 65 dias úteis, of which 22 fall in August. The other two months carry July 2027 with 22 and September 2027 with 21. It sits between the other two, which makes it the month where a quarterly plan is least likely to be thrown off by the calendar alone.

The middle of the working week is the scarcest

The third working day of the week is the one August gives least often. Mid-week scarcity is the easiest kind to absorb, because work pinned to the middle of a week can usually move a day in either direction without crossing a weekend.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, August 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Where the month sits in the year

August sits in the middle of 2027 by working-day count under the Brazilian bank calendar. The middle of that ranking is where a month's total is least informative on its own, because a mid-ranked month can be a long month carrying closures or a short one carrying none, and the two need different plans.

2027 carries 251 dias úteis in total under the Brazilian bank calendar. The longest month of the year is December 2027 with 23 and the shortest is February 2027 with 18, a spread of 5. August ranks 5th of the twelve with 22.

Inside the year's longest clear run

August 2027 sits inside the longest stretch of 2027 with no Brazilian bank closure in it. Where a month falls relative to its country's closure clusters changes what the same working-day count is worth: an uninterrupted month inside a long clear run behaves differently from one of equal length wedged between two closures.

Across 2027 the Brazilian bank closures fall 4 in Q1, 2 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 3 in Q4. A further three holidays land on the sábado and domingo weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 27, 2027 and September 7, 2027, 103 calendar days with no Brazilian bank closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the Brazilian bank calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its Brazilian bank closures with Confraternização Universal on January 1, 2027 and ends them with Proclamação da República on November 15, 2027. The densest month of the year is February 2027 with two closures on working days.

One working day more than last year

There is one more dias útei in August 2027 than in August 2026: 22 against 21. A single-day swing is the ordinary case, produced by the calendar shifting forward one weekday between consecutive common years, and it is large enough to matter to a monthly target and small enough to be missed.

August opens 2026 on a Saturday, 2027 on a Sunday, and 2028 on a Tuesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The number of closures on working days is the same in both years, so the whole of any difference comes from weekday alignment. Looking ahead, August 2028 carries 23 dias úteis.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in August 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the Brazilian bank calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in August 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of August on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on August 31, 2027, a working day under the Brazilian bank calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days

Dated August 31September 30, 2027October 30, 2027 (rolls to November 1, 2027)

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the Brazil calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in August 2027 under the Brazilian bank holiday calendar?
August 2027 has 22 dias úteis under the Brazilian bank holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 9 fall on a weekend and 0 are Brazilian bank holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 22 weekdays are countable as dias úteis for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which Brazil holidays affect August 2027?
August 2027 contains no Brazilian bank holidays that fall on a weekday, so on this calculator's holiday set the month loses no working day.
Are Carnival and Corpus Christi national holidays in Brazil?
No. Federal statute makes nine days feriados nacionais: 1 January, 21 April, 1 May, 7 September, 2 November, 15 November and 25 December under Lei 662/1949 as amended by Lei 10.607/2002, 12 October under Lei 6.802/1980 and 20 November under Lei 14.759/2023. Carnival Monday and Tuesday, 48 and 47 days before Easter Sunday, and Corpus Christi, the Thursday 60 days after it, are ponto facultativo: each year a portaria of the Ministério da Gestão e da Inovação em Serviços Públicos sets them for the federal administration only (Portaria MGI 11.460/2025 for 2026), and it binds no private employer. This calculator counts them anyway, because article 6 of Resolução CMN 4.880/2020 makes all three non-business days for financial-market operations, so banks do not settle on them. Good Friday reads two ways: Lei 9.093/1995 counts it among the religious holidays that municipal law declares, while the federal government's annual list prints it as a feriado nacional. The calculator counts it with the national holidays, as FEBRABAN's bank-holiday calendar does. Ash Wednesday stays a business day, on which the same resolution allows banks special opening hours.
When did Dia da Consciência Negra become a national holiday?
Lei 14.759 of 21 December 2023 declared 20 November a feriado nacional, the Dia Nacional de Zumbi e da Consciência Negra, with effect from its publication, so 20 November 2024 was the first time it fell as a national holiday. As a national holiday it is also a non-business day for financial-market operations under article 6 of Resolução CMN 4.880/2020, and B3's 2026 trading calendar lists it among the exchange's closures. Because it always falls on the 20th, it always coincides with the due date for the social-security contributions a company owes for October, which then moves to the business day before under article 30, § 2º, II of Lei 8.212/1991.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for Brazil. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, Brazilian bank holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. August 2026 had 21 dias úteis, so August 2027 has 1 more working day year over year.
When is the last working day of August 2027?
The last working day of August 2027 under the Brazilian bank calendar is Tuesday, August 31. The month's last calendar day is Tuesday, August 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Friday, August 27.
How many working days in a row does August 2027 offer?
August 2027 has 22 dias úteis in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in five stretches of 5, 5, 5, 5, and 2 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from August 2 to August 6. No working day in the month is isolated between two closures.
