United Arab Emirates March deadlines

Salaries for February are due on March 1, and VAT for a tax period ending in February is due by March 28. Eid al-Fitr follows the Hijri calendar and its days are set by moon sighting; this calculator converts it from the Umm al-Qura calendar and marks the years not yet announced as approximate. This calculator dates Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 March 2027, approximate. March 28 is a Sunday, so under Article 49 of the Tax Procedures Law the VAT deadline runs to Monday 29 March.

Those dates in 2027

One of the dates named above does not fall on a working day in 2027 under the UAE federal calendar. A fixed calendar date advances through the week year by year, so this resolution holds for 2027 only.

United Arab Emirates reporting cycles and business-day rules

This calculator counts Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, the official weekend of the UAE federal government since 1 January 2022, and Friday as a working day, although federal offices close at 12.00 pm on Fridays. The Government of Sharjah also takes Friday off. Under Article 3 of Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, as the government portal quotes it, a public holiday that falls on a weekend is not moved to another day, so a weekend holiday removes no working day from the count. The Ministry of Finance gives a corporate tax return 9 months from the end of the tax period.

March 2027 working days compared by country

Working-day counts vary across countries because each country observes its own public holidays. The table below shows March 2027 under 11 of the site's 25 holiday calendars; the summary above gives United Arab Emirates's own count.

How March 2027 compares year over year

March 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year. On the surrounding months, February 2027 has 20 working days and April 2027 has 22. Looking forward, March 2028 has 23 working days under the same UAE federal holiday calendar.

Using this calculator in United Arab Emirates

A Dubai finance team uses the 20-day March 2027 count, on the Saturday-Sunday weekend the UAE federal government has kept since 1 January 2022, to line up payment runs with European counterparties. A supplier to the Government of Sharjah, which works Monday to Thursday, treats Friday as a closed day as well and recounts. A company closing its financial year at the end of {month} counts toward its corporate tax return, which is due within 9 months of the end of the tax period.

How March 2027 is shaped

The headline count answers how many working days March 2027 contains. It does not answer where they sit, and for anything measured in consecutive days rather than cumulative days that second question is the binding one. What follows is derived entirely from the UAE federal holiday calendar and a working week that treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, with no assumption about how any particular obligation behaves.

The month that closes the first quarter

March closes Q1 and is one of the seven 31-day months. Because it ends a quarter, its final working day is also the quarter's final working day, so a March count carries two boundaries rather than one. It is also the month in which the Gregorian year's day-of-week pattern first repeats: March and November always share the same weekday alignment in any given year.

In March 2027 that comes to 20 working days across 31 calendar days, against 20 in February 2027 and 22 in April 2027.

A clean start to the working week

March 2027 opens on the first working day of the week. That is the alignment where the month's own numbering and the working week agree: week one of the month is a whole working week that belongs entirely to March, with nothing borrowed from the month before. Of the 5 possible starts this is the only one where "the first week" and "the first 5 working days" describe the same span.

The opening stretch runs from Monday, March 1 to March 5, five working days before the first break. March 2027 carries 20 working days in total, so that opening block is 25% of the month's working capacity.

Several working days stand alone

March 2027 contains two working days with a closure on both sides: Monday, March 8 and Friday, March 12. A working day walled in like that has no adjacent working day to absorb a slip, so anything due on it either happens that day or moves across a full closure. Isolated days are also the ones most often mistaken for part of a longer stretch when a plan is drawn from a total rather than from the calendar.

The working days of March 2027 arrive in stretches of 5, 1, 1, 5, 5, and 3 days. The longest unbroken stretch runs five days, from March 1 to March 5. A task needing more consecutive working days than that cannot be completed inside a single stretch, whatever the month's total looks like.

The month is front-loaded. It opens with five consecutive days and closes with three, so capacity thins toward the end. Work deferred out of the first stretch arrives in a shorter one, which is how a schedule that looked comfortable in week one stops fitting.

Three weekdays occur five times

A 31-day month contains four full seven-day cycles and three days over, so exactly three weekdays occur five times and the other four occur four times. In March 2027 the three are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Which three it is follows entirely from the weekday the month opens on, which is why the working-day count of a 31-day month moves year to year even when its holidays do not.

All of them are working days here, so the surplus lands entirely on the working week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each occur 5 times. A weekend of two days can take at most two of them, and had it done so the same month would carry 18 working days rather than 20.

A month with several closures

March 2027 carries three UAE federal closures on working days: Eid al-Fitr (day 1) (approximate) on March 9, Eid al-Fitr (day 2) (approximate) on March 10, and Eid al-Fitr (day 3) (approximate) on March 11. At this density the month's working-day total stops being a useful planning number on its own, because the days that remain are cut into short stretches rather than distributed evenly.

The run structure above is the figure to plan against. Where several closures cluster, a month can hold a respectable total and still offer no stretch long enough for a multi-day deliverable, and only the run lengths show that.

six working days pass before the closure and 14 follow it, which puts the break just short of the month's midpoint. A closure near the middle divides the month into two usable halves rather than trimming one end of it.

The closures around this month

March 2027 carries three UAE federal closures of its own, and the months on either side add their own. Where a deadline sits close to a month boundary, the closure that moves it is as likely to be outside the month as inside it.

Looking outside the month, the last was New Year's Day (unconfirmed) on January 1, 2027, 59 calendar days before March began and the next is Eid al-Adha (day 2) (approximate) on May 17, 2027, 47 calendar days after it ends.

Across the whole of 2027 the UAE federal calendar puts eight closures on working days, of which three fall in March. That ratio, rather than the raw count, is what tells you whether a month is carrying more than its share of the year's downtime.

A midweek close

The month ends in the middle of a working week. Two working days of the final calendar week fall in March and the remainder in the month after, which makes the closing week a partial period on both sides. A midweek close is the pattern most likely to push month-end tasks into the following month by default, simply because the week continues past the boundary.

The last working day of March 2027 is Wednesday, March 31. Counting back from there, the third-to-last is Monday, March 29, two calendar days before the month closes.

The quarter closes here

March closes Q1, so the quarter's last working day and this month's last working day are the same date. Everything the quarter has deferred arrives inside these 20 working days, and there is no further month in the period to move it into.

Across the whole quarter there are 60 working days, of which 20 fall in March. The other two months carry January 2027 with 20 and February 2027 with 20. All three months of the quarter carry the same working-day count, which happens when their weekday alignments and closures cancel out exactly.

The week's fourth working day is the scarcest

The fourth working day of the week is the one March gives least often. It is the position that carries most pre-weekend handover work, so an occurrence lost here tends to push into the following week rather than into the next day.

Counted as worked rather than as occurring, March 2027 gives Monday 5, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 3, and Friday 4. A weekly commitment pinned to a particular weekday fires that many times in the month, which is the number a rota needs and not the one the calendar shows.

Toward the short end of the year

March sits among the shorter working months of 2027 under the UAE federal calendar. A month reaches this end of the ranking either by being short or by absorbing closures, and the two produce the same headline number while behaving differently: a closure fragments the month, a shorter calendar does not.

2027 carries 253 working days in total under the UAE federal calendar. The longest month of the year is April 2027 with 22 and the shortest is May 2027 with 19, a spread of 3. March ranks 11th of the twelve with 20.

Inside one of the year's denser months

March 2027 carries more than one UAE federal closure, which puts it among the year's denser months. Closures are never spread evenly across a year, so a month's own count says as much about the country's calendar as about the month.

Across 2027 the UAE federal closures fall 4 in Q1, 2 in Q2, 0 in Q3, and 2 in Q4. A further four holidays land on the Saturday and Sunday weekend and cost no working day at all, which is why a country's holiday count and its working-day loss are different numbers.

The longest uninterrupted run in the 2027 calendar sits between May 18, 2027 and December 2, 2027, 198 calendar days with no UAE federal closure in between. Stretches like that are where multi-week work belongs, and they move from year to year whenever a movable holiday does.

Where the month sits in the year's closure pattern

Closures are not spread evenly across a calendar year. They cluster around fixed anniversaries and around whichever lunar or movable feasts a jurisdiction observes, so two adjacent months can carry very different loads, and the UAE federal calendar is no exception.

2027 opens its UAE federal closures with New Year's Day (unconfirmed) on January 1, 2027 and ends them with National Day (day 2) (unconfirmed) on December 3, 2027. The densest month of the year is March 2027 with three closures on working days.

The same count as last year

March 2027 and March 2026 carry the same number of working days, 20 in each. An unchanged total does not mean an unchanged month: the working days sit on different dates and break into different stretches, so a schedule copied forward date by date will not line up even though the capacity has not moved.

March opens 2026 on a Sunday, 2027 on a Monday, and 2028 on a Wednesday. That movement, one weekday in a common year and two after a leap day, is what makes the three counts differ. The count of closures on working days differs between the two years as well, so alignment is not the only thing moving. Looking ahead, March 2028 carries 23 working days.

Where the month's anchor dates fall

Two of the common monthly anchor dates in March 2027 land outside the working week or on a closure. The table below resolves each one against the UAE federal calendar, together with the first working day on or after it.

DateWeekdayStatus under the UAE federal calendarFirst working day on or after

The final column is arithmetic, not a legal conclusion. Whether an obligation actually moves when its date is not a working day depends on the instrument that sets it, and this site does not assume a shift rule for any jurisdiction. Where a rule is known it is stated in the holiday data methodology and on the country page it applies to.

Net terms dated in March 2027

An invoice dated the 1st of March on calendar-day Net 30 terms comes due on March 31, 2027, a working day under the UAE federal calendar. Terms counted in calendar days move independently of the working week, so the same term written on two consecutive months can settle cleanly in one and roll across a closure in the other.

Invoice dateNet 30, calendar daysNet 60, calendar days
Dated March 1March 31, 2027April 30, 2027

Dated March 31April 30, 2027May 30, 2027 (rolls to May 31, 2027)

Net 30 and Net 60 are commercial conventions rather than statutory periods, and both are counted here in calendar days, which is how they are almost always written. Where a contract counts in working days instead, use the between-dates calculator with the United Arab Emirates calendar selected, because the two produce different dates whenever a closure falls inside the term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in March 2027 under the UAE federal holiday calendar?
March 2027 has 20 working days under the UAE federal holiday calendar. The month spans 31 calendar days, of which 8 fall on a weekend and 3 are UAE federal holidays that land on a weekday. The remaining 20 weekdays are countable as working days for invoicing, deadline tracking, and contract math.
Which United Arab Emirates holidays affect March 2027?
March 2027 contains 3 UAE federal holidays: Eid al-Fitr (day 1) (approximate) on Tuesday, March 9; Eid al-Fitr (day 2) (approximate) on Wednesday, March 10; Eid al-Fitr (day 3) (approximate) on Thursday, March 11. The calculator skips each of them. Regional or industry-specific closures may add further non-working days for narrower contract definitions; layer them into the calculator's Advanced options if needed.
Which weekend does this UAE calendar use?
Saturday and Sunday. Since 1 January 2022 the UAE federal government has worked a four-and-a-half-day week, Monday to Thursday from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm and Friday from 7.30 am to 12.00 pm, with Saturday and Sunday as its official weekend, and that is the weekend this calculator counts. The governments of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah adopted a similar week; Sharjah's government works Monday to Thursday and takes Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, so for a deadline that depends on a Sharjah government office, treat Friday as closed too. For private employers, the government portal refers the weekly rest day to the labour contract or the work regulations, so check the counterparty's own.
How are Islamic lunar holidays handled in the calculator?
The UAE government portal lists Eid al-Fitr, Arafat Day, Eid al-Adha, the Hijri New Year and the Prophet's birthday as public holidays determined by moon sighting, and Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024 lets the Cabinet move any holiday except the Eid holidays to the beginning or end of the week. Where this site has read the federal government's announcement for a year, its data uses the announced day, marked (observed) when it differs from the Resolution's date. For later years it converts the dates from the Umm al-Qura calendar and tags them (approximate), because the day actually taken off can differ. Under Article 3 of the Resolution, as the portal quotes it, a public holiday is not moved to another day when it falls on a weekend or coincides with another public holiday.
Why does the business-day count vary year to year?
Two things shift the monthly count for United Arab Emirates. First, the day of the week the first of the month lands on changes the count of each weekday. Second, UAE federal holidays anchored to a fixed date shift their weekday across years. Some years a fixed-date holiday lands on a weekend; some countries shift the observance to an adjacent weekday and some absorb it into the weekend. March 2026 also had 20 working days, so the working capacity is unchanged year over year.
When is the last working day of March 2027?
The last working day of March 2027 under the UAE federal calendar is Wednesday, March 31. The month's last calendar day is Wednesday, March 31, so the two are the same date this year. Counting back, the third-to-last working day is Monday, March 29.
How many working days in a row does March 2027 offer?
March 2027 has 20 working days in total, but they do not run consecutively. They arrive in six stretches of 5, 1, 1, 5, 5, and 3 days, so the longest unbroken run is five days, from March 1 to March 5. Two working days in the month stand alone with a closure on either side.
